I have been going to this theater for a while now. Its reasonably priced, they have spacious seating, a large selection of films, and now they have a new feature I particularly enjoy: a lack of redneck idiots who feel they have to bring their bang-bang toy EVERYWHERE. Hey guys, were you aware that you were far more likely to be killed driving to the theater in your truck (especially on 35E) than you are by some crazed psycho in a movie theater with a gun? Of course not, that would assume that you had the ability of critical thinking. Just because you are a CCW holder doesnt mean you know how to shoot your gun in a high pressure, combat situation. If the ridiculously small chance that someone does decide to shoot up the theater, how do I know that you have combat training? Its not going to be the same as shooting at a target at the gun range. In fact, how do I know that you wouldnt pee yourself and accidentally shoot several innocent bystanders? Or better yet, how do I know that youre not like the idiot in Renton, WA a couple of months ago who decided to bring his loaded weapon to see "13 hours", then pop a Xanax, drink some alcohol and then accidentally drop his gun and shoot the woman sitting in front him. Im sure she will really feel safe going to the movies now. I dont have a problem with gun owners, especially since most gun owners keep their guns at home and use them for home protection, hunting, or recreational use. I have a problem with irrational idiots who use Google reviews to disparage a place of business because they cant carry a loaded weapon with them everywhere they go. It has nothing to do with safety, if it did they would also carry a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher, and insulin medicine with them everywhere they went as well. Hey, the building might catch on fire, right? Someone may have a diabetic seizure? Someone might trip and fall. If you care about safety, go the extra mile. Now, if you are a sane, rational person, this is a great place to see a movie, and I highly recommend it.

They may not be the fanciest, but heres why Im giving this organization 5 stars: they are genuinely good people. Not only do they care about their theater, they did me a favor that solidified their value in my eyes. I preordered tickets on a Saturday for Star Wars through Fandango. I was going with several members of my family on Sunday. Tickets were ordered, all was good. Until I got an alert at 3:30pm from Google saying, "Your show will begin in one hour." WHAT?! I realized I had ordered tickets for the right timeslot, but the wrong day. I contacted Fandango and was told there was nothing they could do. My wife told me to talk to Carmike. I called them and after explaining my predicament, with no hesitation they were offering solutions. I ended up being able to use my Saturday 4:30 tickets on Sunday, with no issues. That was the perfect solution that I was honestly surprised to arrive at. This particular Carmike is a good organization and they deserve your business. Besides all that, the movie experience was just as good as AMCs or Cinemarks. Oh and thank you for being sane and not allowing deadly weapons into your facility. I would walk right out of the door if I saw someone other than an LEO packing heat in a theater, legally or otherwise. And Im a veteran. What do you guys think is going to happen if tragedy were to strike? Do you honestly think youre going to be calm and rational enough to take aim and hit your target in the midst of such a chaotic event? The last thing I would want in the middle of that, other than the already existing situation, is untrained and unseasoned civilians firing rounds into a crowd of panicking people. Only more people will be injured or killed. Unless youre a military special operator currently on leave from a recent deployment, I dont think you are going to be helpful. Sorry, but even well trained LEOs suffer from panic and shaky trigger fingers.

Absolutely the best casual theatre experience around. Ive been coming to this theater for ~5 years and through 3 different owners. The management team has been pretty consistent throughout all transitions and they really make your theater experience perfect. Workers are always cheery and talkative if you want to chat. From beginning to end, the staff is really what makes this theater stand apart from the crowd. Everything is also always clean too. The actual theater rooms are average, but with larger, more comfy chairs; the arms also raise up, perfect for dates. The projectors and sound systems are pretty average, no complaints but also nothing to write home about, though one or two rooms have minor damage to speakers or screens. Always improving! The theater now has new soda machines that allow for 100+ flavors, which Im very excited about. I have also been told by corporate that they are looking in to reports of damaged equipment mentioned earlier, so expect that to be fixed soon. Finally, prices. Nobody comes close to the prices for tickets or concessions, especially if you get a refillable popcorn bucket. For me this is a big bonus because Im a student as well as a movie and popcorn addict. At this Carmike from the time you buy your tickets until you leave, youll know this theater is for you.

I went to this theater for the first time today and will not be returning. I arrived at 3:30 for a 3:45 showing and the theater was pitch black with nothing on the screen. Myself and other patrons who walked in at the same time had to use the flight lights on our phones to find seats. The trailers started more than 10 minutes after the scheduled start time... and then abruptly stopped, the lights came on and that was it. Someone went outside to say there was no movie and about 4 minutes later the movie started but without sound and at a scene that was clearly not the beginning. I then left to get a staff member (who I had to find in a bathroom because there was no one else around) who simply shrugged his shoulders and said "Ok. Ill tell someone else." Several minutes later the movie started over from the beginning and with sound but something wasnt centered and we watched the entire film with the bottom of the film cut off from the screen. The film ended up starting (correctly) almost 40 minutes after the scheduled start time and without one apologetic/sympathetic word from a manager or staff member.

I have been going to this theater at least once a week for the past 10 years. Its even easier now my wife and I bought a house a Lake Dallas. I have been a CCW for the past 6 years. I am an honest, hard working American that never intends to do anyone harm. I just want to protect my wife, and family at all costs. Yesterday I wanted to a see a movie with the wife and walked to the door to notice your 30.06 sign properly posted. My heart sank as now I have to find a new place to go see movies. The ONLY thing that sign does is keep law abiding citizens in handcuffs and might as well be a bright beacon to any criminal wanting to do harm, that the employees and customers of Carmike Theaters are un-armed. Fish in a barrel per say. I really hope your theater as well as Carmike brand rethink this horrible idea. Criminals dont obey laws, and you have legally made it impossible to protect my family if someone comes in with a gun intending harm. Bad move guys. My money as well as numerous others will be going somewhere else.
