My husband and I started staying here in 2014. We have a favorite room that just so happened to be the room we used for our honeymoon. Every time we need to get out of the city for a weekend we end up in Newport and staying at our favorite place, Embarcadero. The view is nice. The rooms are nice. We always felt the staff appreciated us....however after this past weekend we will not be back. Our first night was so peaceful and quiet. However the second day a family checked in below us. I am fully aware that families and children stay here and I DO expect to hear them. Problem was this family allowed the three yr old to throw a tantrum for over an hour...SCREAMING. Then the father and sister kept yelling at the kid. It was 9:30 at night, they were making dinner, slamming doors, they kept yelling at the kid to stop slamming something....I gave it till ten and called the front desk as they were pulling out Candyland and about to have a family game....by the way, they were also cooking dinner and talking about buying a helmet and gear for someone....I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I COULD HEAR THEIR CONVERSATION THEY WERE SO LOUD!......I called front desk.........she said she would call them. I heard the phone ring, I hear said father answer. He gets off the phone and begins to spend the NEXT hour calling me a B*^ch and how if they dont be quiet cause Im a B&%ch they will get thrown out and hell lose his deposit and he paid more money for his room then I, so I should shut the F up. Plus, he said, "who comes to Fn Newport during an Fn festival and complains about people being Fn loud?" And the F word was his favorite. This rant went on for an hour. About 12 pm I finally noticed I could barely hear them but for a few door slams. I finally slept until about 2 pm when it started again. I did not call again. I could have. I truly felt for the wee one with an ignorant pops. I am quite clear now on how THIN the flooring is for sound to travel. But honestly, these were not people who respected others. Other kicker is my husband LOVES his morning coffee. He didnt get to drink any either morning as the coffee pots they offer do not work. Upon check out my husband shared his grievance only to be told they really cant do anything about boisterous guests?????? I paid over 200 a night to hear the F bomb and screaming and doors banging. So Embarcadero will keep Mr. inconsiderate father of the year, and lose two really great guests and anyone I can steer clear. If your charging over $200 a night...get a better coffee pot people!! It really is important to people. And I get family stays but have a strict policy for noise and make sure guests like me feel like you care and for Gods sake, dont tell the guy the lady upstairs is complaining about you and your family??????? If I wanted this I would have picked Motel 6!

Checked into my hotel. Went to my room and found that is resembled that of a halfway house or rescue mission. The furnishings were beyond old. Meaning the couch had holes (VERY LARGE HOLES), the lamp had holes (not to mention it was circa 1960) The bed linens were stiff and the comforter was clumpy like it had been around for a long long time. Its not like you sleep with them anyhow, but still, for 90 bucks a night you would think the quality would be higher. Along with the couch and lamp having holes in them, the carpet which was a light blue, had bleach stains, it looked like they tried to "cover up" the bleach stains and actually sprayed bleach around the room to make it look "ty-dye-ish". The furniture itself was a bunch of Goodwill rejections. The dresser and "tv stand" (not really a tv stand, but being used as one) had the finish worn off so much that I got a splinter when I slid my hand across the top of the dresser. The bathroom was old, but tolerable except for the grout peeling off and showing the mold behind it - yuk. After driving 2 1/2 hours with my 3 year old to get to this hotel I decided to try the pool and have some fun since the room was so disappointing. Yea right..... there were no towels, there were 2 teenagers sitting on each others laps giggling, so I am sure the hot tub was then out of commission (well at least in my book), so, I went to the lobby to ask for some pool towels. The guy at the desk with coke bottle glasses said, "that is all we have", I told him there were only 2 towels in the room, could I have some extra room towels and he said they did not have anymore. WTF!!!!!!!!!! I then told the clerk that I wanted to cancel my reservation that I was disappointed with my room and with the service (and this all happened within 15-20 minutes of check-in). He told me "OK, if you are not satisfied", I asked if he had charged my card and he raised his hands up and rubbed/washed them together and said that he did not, come to find out they already pre-authorized my card and it will now take 3-5 business days to remove. I am not much of a complainer, but I worked really hard to pay for this trip and my 3 year old that was very much looking forward to this trip as well. What a terrible experience. I cant believe this place is open and that people are actually going to stay here! Word of advice, DONT DO IT! For the price you pay, you can absolutely find a better, cleaner, friendlier, less teenage porn type hotel. Like we did after leaving this place. The Hallmark, while under construction was only 20 bucks more, clean and sanitary, quiet and the staff was friendly and very kind to my little one. Moral of this story is SAVE YOUR MONEY, SAVE YOUR HYGENE, SAVE YOUR NERVES and go SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Embarcadero Resort is a Condo Hotel. The condo owners can rent their units during peak tourist periods. Units rented through the "Hotel" reservation system have to meet minimum requirements for furniture available and cleanliness and are generally in decent condition. Units rented through individual property owners (internet, Craigs List, etc) or Property Management companies can be hit and miss. Some (ie Dolphin Realty) have strict requirements of owners and renters and those units are usually the nicest and give some long term rental options. When booking through whatever source, the prime rentals are on the water in the two buildings closest to the pool. The majority of units require the use of stairs to access, something to consider if any in your party have mobility issues. When booking through whomever, you can request pictures. Get bathroom, kitchen (if in unit), and view from balcony pics in particular. If a picture request is turned down, theres probably a reason to not rent that unit. Some rooms will have housekeeping options, others wont, youll want to ask. Units in the "hotel" pool are provided with linen. If you go through any other source, ask if you should bring your own. The property is on the bay side of the bridge, not on the ocean. Nye beach is the closest and is about a ten minute drive or forty minute walk each way (but really, dont walk it, for many reasons). I thought the hotel restaurant okay for the standard menu youll find at any Dennys, etc. It was good for breakfast, but I suggest getting out and walking just a short way down the bay road for the food options that bring people to an oceanside town like Newport. I think anyone thats coming for a day or two to primarily be in the room (honeymooners, etc) would be satisfied in any of the nicest units. Active families staying for longer might consider properties closer to one of the local beaches.
