Main Event is a decent place to spend a few hours to pass time with friends and acquaintances, but many employees come across as rude, snarky, and generally unfriendly. I visited M.E today with a group of friends, and each of us purchased the $15.00 "Fun Pass" that guaranteed unlimited bowling and laser-tag, which were the two activities we came for. The waitress who served us our food was very helpful and friendly, unlike other staff members we came in contact with that day. After completing bowling and laser-tag, we decided to play billiards BEFORE 4:00PM, when Happy Hour begins. We walked into the bar area, where the billiards tables are, and walked up to a table. Three other patrons notified us to go to the bar to get pool balls, which we proceeded to do. We were given a set, and instructed to occupy a certain billiards table, and began playing. About ten minutes into playing, I walked up to the bar to place an order for a non-alchoholic beverage, as we had done in the past without difficulty. When I had placed an order, a younger employee with reddish hair, whose name I did not catch, decided to card me for a coke. I informed him I was purchasing a coke, and that it wouldve been unnecessary to card me for said drink, and likewise, I did not have my ID on me as a minor of 16 years. He then retorted "Why come to a bar without an ID, man?" I replied that I wasnt looking to buy alcohol and according to the policy posted outside the bar area, Happy Hour began at 4:00PM, and at that time, those under 18 had to be accompanied by an adult with an ID, therefore I was not violating any posted policy at 12:30 PM. He then sneered and told my friends and I to leave despite the protest of the bartender. Out of the desire to not cause a problem, we left, albeit unhappy. This was the first distasteful experience Ive had at Main Event and hope that employees understand their policy and Main Event make it very clear to both employees and patrons. What we experienced today was anomaly to previous visits and should be addressed by the management, which Ive heard is just as bad.

Ive been here a few times, usually just for bowling, but Ive tried it all. Main Events has a great variety of things to do, and it is that variety that you have to be looking for. They have a full-service bar, and its a bit pricey. Their bowling lanes are seem very short. The scoring system is nice, and malfunctions are few and far between. Getting your lane can be an adventure, as the time estimates youll be given seem arbitrary at best, and it is a regular thing for there to be a long wait when multiple lanes are sitting there unused (but fully functional). It was a little suspicious that on two separate occasions, one of the "reserved" lanes that had been off-limits was suddenly and inexplicably assigned to me after I pointed out that my group had already waited well past (+20 minutes) the estimated wait time. Considering that the system shuts down mid-game when your time is up, it is disappointing that they cannot give accurate estimates on when a lane will be available. The laser tag is fun, although they put way more people in there at a time than the course can accommodate. It is so saturated with bodies that the experience suffers considerably (compared with dedicated laser tag centers like Blazer Tag in Austin). Their arcade area has a decent variety, but if thats what you want then youd be much better off -- and even end up spending less money -- just going to a Dave & Busters. In summary, there is a lot to do at Main Event, and if you are looking to do multiple activities in a single visit, then thats the place to go. If you are looking for just bowling, just arcade, or just laser tag, though, you should probably find a dedicated venue.

Server? What Server? We saw several people last night (Sat, July 24th, 7 to 9 pm, lanes 25 and 26) but none of them were our server. One person was cleaning up the party before us and I asked if he was our server? He said he was not but would call "her". Over the course of two hours, between us and our neighbors, we asked someone to call the server 5 times. After the second time the person who was helping us said the server was on the way but it would be a while because they were short handed. I asked if it would be better if we went to the concession ourselves and the person said yes. When i went to the concession they were very confused and said things were not done that way. They did help us with the food and helped us to our lanes. Should we have gone to the bar instead? I want to emphasize that the people we did speak with were very nice. They all really wanted to help. Ive worked in service for 14 years and the experience was disheartening. They just need a better system to make the experience more smooth. ESPECIALLY considering the amount of money that was spent. (2 lanes for 8 people, 3 $25 fun cards, laser tag, food = $450.00). Not sure yet if I will try the place again. The food was good, the place clean, and I really liked the renovation. The 2 stars are for the service, communication, and the new system that needs a lot of work.

Im only writing about a birthday party experience. I would recommend it only for older kids, like at least age 7. We just had a birthday party there for a 6 and 7 year old, and there were 13 kids in our party with the youngest being 4 yrs old. We were told to come early to get shoes, so we would have enough time to bowl. However we got there early, but our host was late because she was still setting up our room. As a result, we started bowling late, so the kids only got about 40 minutes to bowl instead of the full hour. That wasnt even enough time for one complete game (probably b/c the kids were younger and needed a lot of help). In the midst of the chaos, my son lost his shoes for a while. When we went to the room, the food wasnt in there yet, so the kids just sat around for a while doing nothing. The time was not utilized very well, and it was very disorganized to have a party for the younger kids, especially since there was only one host and the place is big. Several of the parents had to help serve the kids food, drinks, and cake. Usually, you pay these party places in order to have a stress-free experience, but from the very beginning, it was stressful. On a positive note, their pizza was pretty good.

Describe my experience. It was horrible. My family along with another, 8 people, 4 kids under 5, spent over $200 at this place. Only to be thrown out of the table we were sitting at because they wanted the lanes for other customers. Thats right, while halfway through our meal 4 blue shirts swarmed our table and told us we were being moved. So I take my son and go to the new table after being told they will relocate our food. Nope they tossed the garbage from the table on top of my plate. When confronted about their horrible service the manager offered to comp only part of my meal ... because I had already eaten part of it. When I asked why it was so important we be moved I was told because they needed 3 lanes. we had two. The lanes we were at remained empty for over 30 minutes after we were evicted. Avoid this place folks, theyll take your money and treat you like pan handling vagrants at their convenience.
