THE best movie theater experience Ive ever had. As someone who travels for work and has seen movies in multiple theaters in every major city. When I walked in I asked the personable ticket counter if it was like movie tavern. He candidly said, "Better." I was skeptical but found him to be precisely right. -I also tune sound systems as part of my profession and I could not find a thing wrong with the sound, it was dynamic, balanced and just loud enough for action thrillers to shock you at the films intended moments. I am also a photographer and have a decent eye for spotting bad projectors--there are many in DFW and this one is def top 3 best. -I also cant sit in one seat for more than an hour before my lower back starts to bother me and the seats are so densely padded, pain didnt cross my mind. The best seats Ive encountered. -I only had one entree, which was good, but the service was impeccable. Unlike movie tavern where the servers have little to no regard for an uninterrupted movie experience; bumping into the back of your chairs, walking tall in front of the screen, interrupting loudly during dialogue parts to take your order, et Cetera--here you write your order on a card, my server hunch-walked out of line of sight with the screen, and leaned in to whisper and confirm a question I had. -Also the pre movie ads arent dated, awkward and annoying like movie tavern and most theaters. They are modern and witty and absolutely adamant about Mgmt taking care of cell phone issues or loud guests. -So to sum up, I went on a slow Saturday lunch to cure a hangover. It wasnt busy, but their model works. Id like to take a date on a busy night and see if they hold the same standard. I was however completely immersed in the film and plan on making it my default theater to see movies at.

Very disappointed with this place, and have no plans of going to this joint again. I prepaid for the ticket to All Eyez on Me, I get there, walk in to the room where the ticket specifies they would be showing the movie, only to find out that it was a completely different movie. So I walk over to concierge, who informed me that they had had technical issues with the projector (when I walked in it seemed to be working fine) and therefore had moved the showing to another auditorium and handed me a new ticket. I walk in and I find out that my new seat is a dam folding chair!! A fn folding chair! How do we go from expecting to get (and pay for) a nice cushiony reclining seat to a folding chair?? I stayed to watch the movie(an almost 2.5 hours long movie, mind you, while sitting in a folding chair), but I was steaming. Seriously, not even the local dollar movie theaters would have a customer sit in a folding chair! But this supposedly "high end" place put me in one. Im not usually one to complain, but this was ridiculous! Needless to say, I am not going to recommend this place to anyone (and Ill make sure I tell people about this experience, if for laughs, if nothing else), and theyve lost my business. Ill stick to going to the dollar movies, at least there the movies are only a buck and they have nice seats. Im surprised Alamo didnt have me sitting Indian style on the floor instead, so I guess it couldve been worse. Thanks for the wonderful movie experience, Alamo! You guys suck. Oh and I only gave it one star because you have to give them a rating if you want to post this. I prefer to give it ZERO stars.

We have always loved going to Alamo Drafthouse, no other theater has the personality of Alamo, and the strictest no talking no phone policy around. It makes for an amazing movie going experience. And the staff is almost always some of the most amazing servers around. Having said that the one in Richardson we always went to had the problem of uncomfortable seats as it was an older theater. This one though wins hands down as our new favorite theater. I currently have a bum knee (Twerking injury, and sadly not kidding...) and came in on crutches. We started talking with Patrick, one of the amazing staff members here about the movie we were here to see (Dogma for those curious, another great reason to pick Alamo as they show a lot of older amazing movies) and when he learned of my injury he took really good care of us so I didnt have to stand around hobbling on one crutch. Our server was dressed for the movie, and was amazingly friendly and funny. The food as always was pretty Damn good for one of these theaters. And unlike Studio Movie Grill where some complain about people talking to servers during the movie, while the movie is playing everything is done via order cards so no talking needed! Oh and those seats I mentioned? This new one has comfy reclining seats where we were sitting and my god have we found our new favorite theater. If you have not tried Alamo before, you need to and this one especially is our new favorite theater!

The venue is nice and was greeted upon entrance and asked if I needed any assistance finding my movie. First impression was great. Got seated and a waiter quickly came to take drink order. I ordered a pizza and the bottomless soda. Food and drink arrived in a moderate amount of time. This being my first time to Alamo Drafthouse I activated the light on my phone to see the food and drink i was served because it is very dark otherwise. A waitress quickly came over and told me that I could not use my phone for any reason in the theater and this was my one warning and next time I would be removed by the manager and away she went. I never saw my waiter again and wasnt sure if there was a button to activate to notify the staff that I needed more diet coke since I ordered and paid for the bottomless soda. After about 30 minutes I finally had to hold up my drink cup in the air and wave it around in order to get noticed to get a refill. Im sure this is just as distracting to other viewers as turning on your phone light to see your food and drink. I did notice that others in the theater did the same when their food and drink arrived which I completely understood. Who wants to bite into or drink something you havent viewed? Perhaps a run down of the protocol upon first ordering would be nice instead of a scolding once unbeknownst protocol is broken. No tip was left this trip and Im normally a great tipper.

Big fan of the Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson. Even though I live in the downtown area and there are multiple theaters that are closer, I would still drive out to Richardson for this theater. Now theyve built one 5 minutes away, so Ive found my new home. Theater has a restaurant/bar, karaoke rooms(havent tried yet, but will), and an outdoor patio to hang out before or after the movie. I really like that you can choose your seats in advance. Beer selection is really good, just like the one in Richardson. Food is good. I also like that they tailor the pre-movie experience to something related to the movie you are watching. Its always something crazy or ridiculous to keep your attention. Its also a mostly adult theater. I dont think Ive ever seen people bring babies or young kids, which is a huge plus for me. Oh and the seats recline a little bit, which is something nice that they dont have at the Richardson location. There is a permanent arm rest between the seats, so unlike the Richardson location, you cant lift it and snuggle with your partner if youre watching a scary movie. Not a big deal for me because I almost never get scared.
