Where do I begin? ... i guess Ill talk about one thing at a time ... the management/personnel .... (lack of) autonomy for your own wedding ... cookie cutter facilities that make every wedding there very similar (although a nice facility) ..... a business that cares only about the bottom line and not their clients. #1) Antonia: this is your wedding planner from your worst nightmare that you cannot get rid of. She not only is hostile to even the bride/groom and family, but she will try to take over and dictate how the wedding will go. Abrasive personality that will run your wedding like a business event. Not very bright, not very professional, but acts surprisingly haughty regardless #2) Lighting and the facility is great I have to admit. This is what attracted us to the place in the first place. However, have you seen any pictures from two different weddings taken at the indiana roof? Well .... no need, youve seen one wedding there, then youve seen them all. Every single wedding at the facility looks exactly the same. I mean .... its still nice at the end of the day, if you dont mind the internet or your indy facebook friends posting pics of a wedding that has the very same look and feel regardless of the amount of time youve spent making it your own (best you could do given #1 above) ... but it will still not be unique. #3) So a little more than half way through the planning, we had enough. Could not take all the ridiculous restrictions this place has! They abuse the fact that there arent many venues in indianapolis downtown that can host a big party. Thankfully some new places have come up recently to compete and.... maybe improve the professionalism and people friendliness ... that indiana roof feels is unnecessary given luxury of the lack of competition. Antonia, at this point tried to swindle much more money than the contract would entitle them. Most places would even nullify the contract fees if they were to find a replacement party. Roof however would like to replace you and take as much money from the initial client as possible. I promised to pay all the fair losses from the contract, however she (apparently with little legal suave/moral sense) attempted to make ridiculous claims that their formal written contract could not support. #4) back to antonia ... I just cant understand how a person with such little business-social etiquette for this industry could function as their face? I guess because given the lack of competition, Roof cares about the bottom line and will sell their souls for every penny. This was not only frustrating/insulting but really just disappointing and outrageous .... leading me to write such a thorough and critical review. Especially since every review Ive ever written online is only to praise a facility. This was a review that was overdue but felt necessary to warn other locals to STAY AWAY. now if you wan a easy fix where you do not mind everything looking very much structured and dont have much of your own style to incorporate .... and dont mind being passive to such a facility .... you can still have a nice facility to entertain your guests with less work on your part. You will just have to sacrifice originality, pride, money and support a corrupt establishment .... IMO. End of the day, its about the people at a party than anything else .... but Id rather take my people elsewhere. good luck

My parents drove 3 hours to look at prospective venues for my wedding. We arrived and no one offered to assist us, so we just stood around for 5 minutes before I saw 3 girls holding clipboards and talking. I approached them and they didnt acknowledge me, so I had to interrupt and ask for help. They pointed me toward a girl who they said could help I approached this woman who, again, ignored me. After I yet again butted in, she informed me that she doesnt know who can help me. At this point, Im standing around with my fiance and my parents and were about to leave when a woman named Antonia comes up and says shes the sales manager and asks what we want. I told her we had an appointment, and she was quick to say they dont do appointments on Saturday, even though I was holding the email that had our appointment confirmation. She told me she could only spare 10 minutes to talk with me. I asked to see the dressing room for the bridal party, and she made a rude face, as if I were the biggest inconvenience ever. She begrudgingly said she could show me. She interrupted me at every sentence and was extremely patronizing. At that point I was fed up and told her that I dont want to waste her time and that wed go somewhere else. She said "ok." Im not a bridezilla by any means, and I dont expect people to bend over backward for me, but the staff are beyond rude. So we and our $35,000 walked out the door.

Stunning place. Being ballroom dancers, we stopped on a Friday morning just on the chance that we could see the place. Doors were unlocked, so we entered. Dont try the stairs... use the elevator. The facility is used mostly as a rental venue for weddings, and was being set up for one tomorrow. The manager, Craig, greeted us and not only welcomed us for photos, which he took, but gave us a tour which included the backstage door upon which two workers had recorded their ratings of musicians almost a century ago. The floor in this place is phenomenal. Rated by Lawrence Welk as the most comfortable dance floor in the world, due to its 1x6" boards (on side so the surface boards are 1" wide & 6" deep) twice suspended, the floor is circular. Unlike any I have ever seen. They have public big band dances 6 times yearly. We have put it on our bucket list. The ceiling has starlight optics and a moon. Check the photos on their website. Magnificent.

What an amazing experience we had for our daughters wedding. Everything about this venue is done down to the detail. The managers were extremely attentive to our needs, very professional and wonderful to work with. The dinner presentation was outstanding, the food and drinks were delicious, and we cannot say enough about the entire staff of the Indiana Roof Ballroom.
