I think that this is one of my most favorite Zoo. I think that there is so much more though that over time they will fix/add to the Zoo to make it way more awesome. I found that one of my favorite exhibits was the one of the Gorrillas and as well of the Grizzly Bears. I find them so fascinating to study and see them not behind some form of barriers that prevent from seeing them in full view. I love how open the Zoo is, most of the time you will not find bars or glass obstructing your view of said animals. They also take great care of their animals. I have seen many places that they dont care to properly provide for the animals, but want to make sure the customers like the rides in the Zoo. I will definitely come back here and recommend this Zoo to anyone that I meet. Went there again and you know what??! There is so many more animals that are out now that it has started to warm up. Everyone will love it. The flowers are in bloom and the backdrop for your pictures are amazing since the grass and things are becoming luscious green. Definitely advice people to go and check out the Lego exhibits as well. Mind-blowingly awsome for how much time these people have put forth, for it to bring people happy thoughts as they see what another human has accomplished.

We visit this zoo at least once a month and it is always a lovely experience. I always feel safe inside as well as in the parking lot. It is so great to have a nice, safe place outside to walk around when the weather is nice. The food is expensive so bring sandwiches or eat before you go. The prices are on par with any other nicer zoo or amusement park. The food IS good so if you dont mind the price and you HAVE to eat dont worry about that. I love the black bean burger(although it is a little spicy) and sweet potato fries. The chicken tenders are standard and good, too. The cat house café used to have a Back Yard Burger inside and it seems like the burgers are still the same as BYB. As far a treats go the cotton candy is priced well, in my opinion, especially the large bag and dip-n-dots are the same price they always are. There are always plenty shows going on even in the off season and on days there arent many people there, which is nice. I recommend a membership. If you go at least twice in a year youll at least break even depending on if you have/how many children you have. You can go once and if you want to join stop by the box office before you leave and theyll put the money you paid for your tickets that day towards your membership.

our family went to the Memphis Zoo Saturday 5/9/2015 for my granddaughters birthday....our family used to go to the Memphis Zoo a lot...but it has been several years since I have visited...I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!! After I paid $70.00 to get my group in........there were hardly any consession stands open......the ones that were, were over priced to sat the least.....there were hardly any animals out............maybe there just arent many animals at the Memphis Zoo....the ones that are there are terrible looking..........they are dirty and look very unhappy.....not a good experience for myself and my family.........needless to say............we will not be going to the Memphis Zoo again.......all in all for my little group of 4 adults one child and a baby....we joined other groups we were meeting there.........it cost just for us.....well over $200.00.........it was horrible.........clean the place up........take better care of those poor animals.......and lower your prices........heck I would not have minded paying that high a price.....if there were something to do.......and something to see.........the food prices are way way way too high..........as far as I am concerned the Memphis Zoo FAILED!!!!

We received a very inhospitable reception at the Zoo today, November 20, 2012. While visiting my sister, who has a family membership, we decided to spend this beautiful, abnormally warm, fall day at the zoo. Between having the zoo membership and it being free afternoon at the zoo, we were excited to have a wonderful place to spend time with our family. Imagine how discouraged we were to walk up to the window and be told that we would need to pay for 3 of the 5 people in our party because we were not from Tennessee and were not on the membership registry. Instead of having an inexpensive family outing we payed $30 just to enter the zoo for the 2.5 hours until closing time. As a visitor to Memphis from Texas I was so disappointed to find out that I was not welcome in the World Renown Memphis Zoo as family of a Zoo Member nor was I welcome to enter for free (as all those in line before and after us) because of my state of residency. Next time were looking for something to do for a few hours during a visit to Memphis we will head to the Fire Museum - they may not have free entry but at least they are nice to out of state guest!

I love love LOVE the Memphis zoo. The layout is very nice, the staff are always friendly and eager to answer any questions you may have about the animals or their careers in general, its definitely family oriented as there are rules in place to prevent smoking, drinking, etc. and overall its just a nice place to be. There are lots of animals to see, including a new Hippo exhibit they just opened over the past few months, and theres almost always something going on no matter where you go in the zoo too, whether its a feeding or a show or just a talk about the animals. The price of admission is fair too, and their memberships are definitely worth the price; even if you go just three times in an entire year, youve already saved money, not to mention the discounts you get at the food carts and gift shops. All in all, a great place, and if I lived closer I would go nearly every day.

If this is a 5-star zoo then I am disappointed because that means it doesnt get much better than this, and this was nothing overly impressive to me. We had a good day, and it was not bad for the money, but 5 stars? Come on. In my opinion, St. Louis is better, or at least as good, and it is FREE. It was clean, and kid friendly. They had a good assortment of animals. However, some of the things they brag about are very disappointing. They call it the "Memphis Zoo and Aquarium", but that is a bit misleading. Calling it an "aquarium" is sort of like calling Heidi Montag a celebrity. The aquarium was not bad, but it sure was not impressive. The meerkat exhibit was disappointing. The below average Nashville Zoo has a much better meerkat exhibit. I am glad we went, but we probably will not make the two hour drive to return anytime soon.

This was our second trip to the zoo here. Me and my husband went once while on a trip and couldnt wait to being our kids back to what we have bragged about being the best zoo in the south! Well we were sadly disappointed upon our return trip. There were many many animals that had been removed or were not on display anymore! Many empty exhibits. I mean like half of sections across the zoo! The cart sellers didnt even have stocked carts! My little boys asked for 3 different things and the girl said...Well I dont have that size...Im out of that...So we said forget it your trying to sell stuff and dont even have half the products you are advertising! Food is highly priced across the zoo so be prepared to spend $30 for a couple drinks and snacks. Gifts shops are great however!! Lots of options and reasonably priced stuff for all price ranges.
