For a city the size of Little Rock its about the ideal size. The staff was friendly; one zoo volunteer carried around a corn snake for guests to touch. It was a extra hot Saturday so many of the animals were inside their shelters and we couldnt view them; Id say over half were not visible. The animals we did see were interesting. The layout of the zoo was confusing, but thankfully we received free map with our paid entrance fee. The zoo was very clean and the animal dwellings were well maintained. There was a bit of construction in a couple of areas. Unfortunately, nearly all the concession stands were closed and that seemed odd for a hot Saturday afternoon. There was a small train to ride but for additional cost. Overall, I felt that the cost of an adult ticket of $12.50, child ticket of $9.95 for 3 and up, plus a $3 fee for parking was pricey for such a small zoo. No outside food and drink allowed, except water bottles. So, it was unfortunate that most of the concession stands were closed as it was a tad inconvenient, if you didnt plan ahead. All in all, we had a good time. Its not on my "gotta go again" list.

For my family it would have been 79 dollars to go to the zoo just one time. However they had an offer, that if we became members for 89 dollars, we would have unlimited numbers of trips to the zoo for the year and a 10% discount in the cafe. There are other perks of course, but what caught my attention, is that just two trips to the zoo and my membership pays for itself. Being that I am a homeschooling mother, this was an excellent opportunity to teach my 7 and 11 year old boys about animals for the year. Also if you get the Large cups in the cafe, refills are super cheap for the rest of the year...cheaper than a 20 ounce coke at a local gas station. I recommend the pizza for a large group. In my first trip, I almost made my ten bucks back on food in the cafe and refills in drinks. If you have a large family, its a total no brainer. The animals were well displayed. The walk was fun. The kids had a blast. We intend to return for zoovies in the zoo this July. Look into it, you will think its worth the extra ten bucks and now you have a place to walk while looking at beautiful animals.

Charming zoo, great collection of animals, not sure why theres all the hate. I asked about "trash" in the exhibits, and the staff told me that they were "enrichment items," which give the animals activities like puzzles to figure out or something to tear at and destroy. Its good for them. And why is everyone saying that the animals are mistreated? I visit the zoo fairly frequently (since I live nearby), and every time I see animals theyre bright-eyed, sleek, and clean. There are lots of cool animals of all different kinds in lots of exhibits, and they all just look like theyre moseying around, enjoying life. Also, the staff are always kind and helpful to me, so I dont know why others are having problems. Anyways, I like the zoo and plan to visit frequently in the future, and I always have had a good time, so five stars.

I have purchased zoo passes since my children were born. I would frequent the zoo at least one time a week to give my children an outing outside and help educate them on animals. I have never ever liked our zoo. The Little Rock zoo is an absolute disgrace. I will never buy a season pass again. There are very few exhibits that are actually decent and when repairs/upgrades are being made it takes months for these changes to take place. WHERE ARE THE ANIMALS? Everything seems broken and under repair. I almost never see any animals out or on display at the time and the ones I do see are hardly active. Some of the animals appear gnarly and gross. I think the Little Rock Zoo is an absolute embarrassment. I decided after my most recent visit I will not go back.

I brought my son here for his birthday two days ago and I also brought him a year ago. Last year I assumed that it was just bad timing and so I thought I would give it another try this year. Bad idea. Its hard to push the stroller on their walkway because its so torn up. There really isnt much shade so its scorching hot. You have the option of using the mist stations to cool off but thats only going to burn you quicker. The route is confusing to follow. The worst thing however was the state of the animals. The ones we saw (most exhibits were empty or closed) were not active. They didnt have access to cool themselves off. Not one animal in the entire zoo seemed happy. Not one! There was construction both visits. One year apart. Expensive prices. Dont go!

Went to the zoo on 11/13. The animals we saw looked healthy and well cared for. It was cold and I guess a lot of the animals were in their shelters so we didnt see many. But several displays were closed or the animals had been removed. If I had known this I probably would have made others plans for the day. It would have been nice if this was noted on the website. I was disappointed in general condition of the zoo. Piles of leaves were everywhere and there was a good amount of trash on the ground. There were many staff members there engaged in cleaning up the grounds but it looks like that was let go for a good while. The staff members I talked to were friendly and helpful. The food at the Africa Cafe was good and reasonably priced.

Terribly disappointing!! We took my 3yr old twin granddaughters today, May 20, for their first trip to a zoo. Many exhibits didnt have any animals at all in them and others were under construction. The carousel wasnt working or not open. The bear education area supposedly was to end on May 21st, yet nobody was there either. The bear exhibits only had 1 species of bear and the others were empty. The cafe was extremely expensive, it cost $30 for the 4 of us to eat. The map/brochure even said in at least 2 places to please excuse the construction or areas not accessible to see any animals, but it doesnt say that anywhere before you enter. For $10 per child, $13 per adult and $3 to park I would have taken them somewhere else!

Zoo is very run down. Not what it was in the 90s. Way way to over prices, with your food prices, and entry prices, youre losing business. Too high for kids to come daily or even several times a week. You are only going to get that monthly family out with prices like that. Would you want to spend 45$ just for your family of about 5 to get a snack? Hell no. My advice is, get an investor, and put some money into revisiting your business plans, from the top to bottom, and implement things that help earn you repeat business. Maybe allow independent food stands owned by someone else to cater. Etc. but until these things change its going to continue to lose revenue and lose customers. Boo at the Zoo needs way more security
