UPDATE AMC Highwoods 20: Now AMC owns this location, I was hoping that 2 months after the takeover AMC would at least clean this rat trap up...but no luck for us locals. This place is still a dirty dump and I asked the "manager" last weekend when will they are at least start cleaning the place and I didnt get a sound answer, so now I guess Cobb Grove 16 is our new place (after 20 years) to see movies. I looked at the review on this page, and this must be FAKE NEWS! Because on one in their right mind would give this place 5 Stars. It gets one Star at best for "good location", but the management is lazy and ownership is malfeasant. Past under Carmike ownership: This place used to be awesome, until Carmike Cinemas bought out Florida based Muvico! Muvico was a gem of a theater, like my family, people would always go out of their way to go to Muvico Starlight 20, over other area theaters. Now, Carmike’s is disgustingly dirty and run down. Carmike is notoriously known to buy out nice properties and then run them in to the ground, milking out every cent until it becomes that movie theater that people once would go to, until the new _ _ _ Theater opened. Carmike did this to the theater next to Universal Squire Mall back in the day…boy, want a dump that place was. Carmike won’t even spend $200 to have some pressure washing done to the front walkway when you buy your tickets, let alone actually clean the inside. Almost everything is broken inside as well. It’s like that classic 1970’s New York City cheep theater, where urchins would congregate. You wouldn’t dire to turn a light on to look around to see the filth and if you dropped some personal belonging on the theater floor, kiss it goodbye, because there is no way you would want it after it fell into that roach infested filth on the floor. This is all managements fault. The kids that work here seem nice, but have a lack of any good leadership from management. I give it One Start for location, that is it. It’s very sad to see happen to a once nice place.

The AMC Highwoods, formerly CineMike Muvico, needs a facelift. While there are a lot of screens at this location, and theres a theme of classic movie fun, the place feels run down and old. The staff are friendly and responsive. It is clear they are doing what they can to keep the place running well. However, the problems are many, and AMC will need to renovate to resolve them. The carpeting is old and dirty. The decorations need dusting and touch-ups. The windows need cleaning. The entry doors need cleaning and painting. The concession counters need a face lift and cleaning. The butter counter needs cleaning or replacement. A fresh coat of paint and a deep cleaning would go a long way. The theater seats are simply dirty and not comfortable. On our last visit to the theater, there was gum (or some other foreign object) stuck to one of the seats. Thankfully I noticed before sitting down and ruining my pants. The mens bathroom needs an update as well as they always look dirty. One of the stalls has no functional lock, and two of the sinks I tried didnt work with the sensor. They also have an arcade area on either side of the entry-way. Its standard fare video games, racing simulators and skee-ball. They are all well-worn. This is okay, except they have a disgusting game called, "Pull my finger." Really?! This is how a company chooses to show how classy they are by resorting to low-brow bodily function humor? Disgusting. On the plus side, the screens are okay with no visible damage to the theaters Ive been in. The sound is good, and the AC was working fine. They have the 100+ choice Coke machines, which are awesome. AMC is also honoring the popcorn bucket for those who purchased one late last year, which is a nice plus. The bottom line is that when we have a choice to go to a theater we prefer to go somewhere else that is cleaner--even though this one is more convenient.

My First experience here and it was absolutely the worst theater Ive been to for a few reasons. First we arrive and the outside maintenance was very poorly kept. As we enter to the counter to purchase our tickets, the floors and counters were filthy. We could barely understand the guy behind the counter with his very low tone and spoke so fast. Then we asked for a cup of water and he said the soda is free you gotta pay for the cup(hmmmm)never got told that before over some water. All the soda machines and counters in that area were disgusting as well. We go in the theater my mouth dropped(OMG)The seats were soo worn, old, stained, gum in the drink dispensers, food and trash on the floor and under the seats in almost every row. I just wanted to vomit thinking about all the germs that people are getting. I was furious, I went back to get a manager and guess what? No one was in sight. Not one person to assist a paying customer. So with this being said, I am contacting the corporate office and getting a full refund to go to another Carmike Cinema. I hope everyone reading this is Aware and do yourself a favor dont go to this location. If you do,when you get home immediately wash your hands and clothes from those seats...Lol. I have been going to this particular theater for 95% of the time for the last sixteen years since they first opened. Although I have for the most part been historically pleased with Muvico, I have been rather disappointed to see it having gone down hill for the last couple years since Carmike became the parent company, with changes such as the Box office being shuttered (except during peak times) to save on staffing by having the Concession stand sell tickets as well, resulting in VERY long lines even on weekdays, especially since there is usually only one worker attending to people at a time. My most recent experience in the last week had me even more disgusted at this theater when we showed up around 15 minutes before the movie to find they had Reserved Seating only for the particular showing, and ended up leaving as a result. Although I have continued to deal with the annoyance of long waits with buying tickets at the concession stand for some time now, I will not be returning to this theater again if we now have to deal with the hassle of Reserved seating when going to the movies.

This place has gone completely downhill. Its disgustingly filthy, poorly maintained in every way from the dirty floors, to the busted wall and stalls in the bathroom, to the overflowing trash cans, it is just terrifyingly unsanitary. Customer service is non existent. The front automated ticket machine is inoperable, and there was no one working in the ticket windows out front so all patrons had to head in to the special services area to purchase tickets which added a chunk of time to the process of gaining entry. Concessions area is a use at your own risk experience. Shameful. The actual theater rooms are in such disrepair and smell of urine. The AC was not on in the theater which exacerbated the foul odors and made the entire showing unbearably uncomfortable. Im so appalled by what my family and I just experienced. We will never return to this theater and will certainly warn our friends and family of the same. This place used to be nice back in the day. Management has really failed. AMC took what was once a lovely place and ran it in to the ground.
