This is the only modern theater in Elizabethtown and the better of options within 30 miles. They have recently upgraded their seating in some of the theaters with slightly reclining, taller seats that allow you to lift the arms. Much better then the original stiff, short seats. Their lobby looks run down and it doesnt help that they have some old run down leftover arcade games in there. At least it is some entertainment if you have to wait. Concessions are overpriced for their size, as most theaters are, but there are no refills on even the large popcorn or drinks for that price. The concession stand area as a whole just feels unpleasant with its extremely outdated look. The concessionaires dont even serve you as you take pre-bagged popcorn and fill your own drinks. Plus, the butter machine is on the opposite side of the room, between the bathrooms. As for the theaters, they are stadium seating but have a strange layout as some only have one set of stairs on the opposite side that you enter from. All of the screens seem worn and in some movies you end up focusing on the distracting defects in the screen more than you realize because they stand out so bad, especially if watching 3D movie with a defect as it will seem as if it always stands out. Their location seems a bit off as it does not face the highway and the parking lot is even more confusing. If you enter from 31W, you are entering from the back. There are no One-Way or Do Not Enter signs on either side of the building, but once you start on the wrong side you begin to notice all the spaces are in the opposite direction and there is nowhere for oncoming traffic to go. The spaces are also really tight and the area that looks like overflow parking just look like an empty lot that people just started parking in. On the bright side, the place is rarely crowded. On some movies, after 2 weeks of release, there were practically no one in there and we have even had the whole theater to ourselves before. This is not the worst theater I have ever been in, but dont set your expectation high.

This theatre is mediocre. It has popcorn and shows movies but for the price of the tickets and concessions, the experience is part of the magic. Unfortunately, this theatre is severely lacking in that area. It is a full price theatre in a dollar theatre setting. When we take our kids, the cost of the movie and concessions is over $100. I expect a lot more for my hard earned dollars, yet this is the only local theatre option. (The theatre in Radcliff also leaves much to be desired.) Regarding the Movie Palace (definitively a misnomer) - The seating is old and outdated - a few months ago I sat in a chair that had an arm repair made by using a piece of unfinished wood, appearing to be a 2x4. The bathrooms are small, dark, frequently dirty, and often in disrepair. There are no refills of Large popcorns and Large drinks, which you often find at most theaters. Elizabethtown is a good sized town and would be an excellent market for Rave, Keystone, Regal, or Cinemark. (I hope they are listening!) The Movie Palace could then be the dollar theatre its meant to be. For a dollar theatre showing movies past their prime, it would be worthwhile.

I considered this theater pretty great 10 years ago when I was going to college in Elizabethtown and, I should note, caught a movie on the days that I had a 3 hour lull in my class schedule. However, I got out of the rural bubble that is the Western Kentucky Parkway corridor and got a taste of quality movie theaters and, even, drive-ins. When my husband and I decided to catch a movie recently, we were sorely disappointed and it was nothing like I had remembered. The seats were terribly uncomfortable, several of them were actually falling apart and appeared to be busted, the floors had not been cleaned and were sticky from spilled drinks and littered with popcorn. Naturally, we have not been back. It sucks that the owner apparently does not see fit to renovate the theater because it is the only option in the void zone of the WKY Parkway and people are forced to drive a distance to Bowling Green or Louisville (Ive not heard a lot of great things about Radcliffe and it sounds on par with the Movie Palace). If it had been 10 years ago, I would have given it 4 or 5 stars but, sadly I have to give it 1. What a shame.

This is the worst theater that Ive ever been to. I tried to give a zero but it wouldnt let me. I just moved to the area (will be moving again shortly), and this is the only theater unless you want to travel to Louisville or Radcliff. It smells like cat pee, they charge the same prices for sub-par viewing and sound. A $200.00 basic HDTV that you can buy at any store truly has a better picture than any of their screens. Also, they are very unorganized. Ive been there before where they have one person cleaning the theaters and withhold seating well after the start time of the movie. As a result, they restarted the movie 15 minutes into it to let those who had not been seated yet due to the theaters mistake to view the beginning. Absolutely horrible. If I was living here any longer I would petition to get a major chain to come to town, lucky for me, I do not have to experience this theater for much longer. They will be out of business shortly if they do not upgrade screens, organize/train staff, and do major overhauls to the building.

This place has seriously gone down hill. I get that we live in a smaller rural community, but when half your staff are your relatives and simply dont give a crap cuz they know you wont fire them. it really reflects on your business. The seats are uncomfortable. the bathrooms are always filthy, the concessions are over prices and the concession area is dirty. And most recently I have had my movie interrupted not once but twice because of people "triple parking" in the parking lot and blocking people in, mainly because there are no lines painted in the parking lot. As much as you charge for popcorn, you would think you could afford a can of paint. When I mentioned that the parking lot should be painted, the VERY rude woman at the ticket booth told me "COMMON SENSE SIR< COMMON SENSE" Is this how you should treat someone after dropping 21 dollars on a movie ticket, a coke and some cold popcorn?

Im a local Etonian and I have to disagree with the previous statements. The reason they leave the lights dimmed sometimes is to help people see the steps better. They are steep and longer than normal steps, which can be a problem for children and the elderly- simply put they do that out of consideration for their guests. Secondly, compared to movie ticket prices elsewhere, they are relatively cheap. Concessions are not that bad either, especially when looking at their newer combo deals. I am a regular customer and I think and have always thought that they do pretty well for a small town theatre. Yes, the cleanliness could improve, but rude guests who trash the place dont help the situation. If you dont like something, be courteous enough to address your complaint appropriately -to management. Otherwise, go somewhere else if youre that dissatisfied.
