This place is a hidden gem and a staple in the area. The food is really good and the cost is reasonable. Parents can have pizza, beer and wings while kids can have chicken fingers, popcorn etc. Its a great place for families and people are relaxed and dont judge you if your kid cries or talks during the movie. The atmosphere is super relaxed. It has a vintage feel. Its a bit run down, but it gives it charm. I dont think the experience would be the same if it was renovated. The only thing is it gets cold in the winter time. You need to bring a heavy sweatshirt or blanket.

Ive taken my girls here almost a dozen times in the short time I lived in Dunellen. Its got a classic theater feel with updated amenities. They offer the typical movie theater fair as well as a menu of hot foods that are made in the kitchen of the attached Zupcos restaurant. They have removed every other row of seats to allow tables for food placement, so you can order before you sit and the food is brought to you while you enjoy the movie. Theres also a balcony that can be reserved for small birthday parties. The staff is always friendly and courteous.

Definitely different than a typical theater. Screen is smaller, sounds not as loud, but I thought those were pluses actually, not minuses. I have heard to food is good but I didnt try it. Reasonable ticket and concessions prices, at least compared to the big guys. The biggest plus-no one right behind or in front of you! Instead there are low coffee tables for food. Lots of leg room, no one kicking your seat or talking right behind you. Took one star away cause it does look a bit run down, which makes it look kind of dirty. But Ill definitely be back.

We love the Dunellen theater. We always go there to see movies with the kids. Its a historic theater with memorabilia on the wall in the lobby. It is a bit run down, but I think that gives it so much charm. We always go there with the kids earlier in the day because they are young and can get a little rowdy. We get a couple of pizzas, a pitcher of juice and enjoy the movie. They have tables in every row for your food.

Great (2nd time) experience for a grand"Pa" and his six y.o. grandson. Prissy people complaining about the environment and accommodations are really fussy. If an old guy like me can tolerate the seats and (enjoy the) kids having a family night out, Id suggest the negative reviewers search for an upscale theater. We drove 45 minutes to have a good time and hope to return in the future.

Went to a birthday party. It was horrible. They were extremely disorganized and the person in charge of the party was rude. The birthday boys presents were thrown in the restaurant. Forks and plates were thrown on the table. Children were singing happy birthday in the bar.This place is definitely not meant for childrens birthday parties.

Awesome place to bring the kids! They serve dinner while you watch the movie. Pizza, burgers, and such are derived to you, also sodas and beer. Every movie I have seen here was better with the children singing or dancing along. It is a very inviting atmosphere for the children and there is no fear of being shushed.

Not the best sound or screen quality but the foods delicious and the price is amazing. Wonderful choice for catching a movie with kids since no one minds if they get a bit restless! And the coffee tables are a great place for little ones to quietly play with toys if they get bored with the movie.

They removed every other row to add tables so you can eat and drink while you watch the movie. You can get a whole pizza and a pitcher of beer with your movie tickets. Great date night, or great for the kids! They only have one screen, so you should look to see what they are playing before going.

We went for a childrens birthday party hosted here. Its a nice old-style movie hall. Nothing fancy but its a fun experience. The kids thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant/bar right next to it is a nice place to hang-out during the kids party.

Awesome food and prices. Would recommend going there. Service over there is great as well. This theatre vs AMC dine in? AMC food is from chain food companys while Dunellen theatre food is made homemade fresh. Thats another pro.

I love this place. The pizza and wing are really good. My son enjoys going but I enjoy it as much as he does. Family friendly and its OK if your little one makes noise when their excited about the movie. Highly recommended

Great for families. Inexpensive and if your toddler randomly talks during the movie you dont feel as bad as in a normal theater. Love ordering their Pizza/soda combo. Great deal! My kids love their chicken tenders too.

Although the movie is older, the employees are friendly and the price is right; the tickets and food. They also have a bar/restaurant attached. I think they were the first to come out with the movie and a dinner...lol

Old fashioned theme, yummy pizza. Their birthday packages are very cool. There is only one screen, but you can HEAR the movie in the bathroom with speakers!

Terrific place. You can have anything from Zupkos menu, the tavern next door. A pitcher of Yuengling is around $6. Great value.
