Had a great experience. Drive up form Lexington, KY whenever there is a band worth seeing. Staff have always been friendly and helpful. Security, never had a problem with security, then again, I never did anything to get their attention. I grew up in Southern California and this place is nothing even close to a dive. You go to shows on the Sunset Strip in the 80s and 90s, then you will have some life experience to use to make an educated statement about a place. The only people I have seen with any problems are the typical "me first" brats who think they are entitled to anything and everything. All in all, great venue, good prices, good staff. ** Updated 1/2/14 Went and saw The Misfits play, and apparently every other band within 50 miles of Covington KY was on the bill also. It was ridiculous. The band that was actually touring with The Misfits had to speed through their set because every other band had to play. I think in total we had to wait through 6 or 7 locals to get to Attack and The Misfits. Why do I say 6 or 7? Because I quit counting after the third band. I am sure this was a pay to play event, after all what aspiring act wouldnt want on their resume that they were an opening act for The Misfits. Also, the sound was awful when The Misfits took the stage. I grew up listening to the band since 82 and I couldnt even tell what half the songs were. Dont say Im getting to old because the opening acts had better sound than the headliner.

Saw Hinder last night. The venue is very dirty, security is not very tentative to issues going on at the venue, I had to pay $3 to get cash out of an ATM because they only took cash (I didnt figure a venue big enough to book Hinder would not take credit cards). Acoustics where very bad. They advertised a 7:00 door and 8:00 show, even though they didnt open doors until 7:28 and the first band played at 7:35 rather than 8:00 as advertised. Here is the kicker: They advertise Hinder w/ several other bands. However, I end up sitting through 7 different opening bands with at least a 1/2 hour set each before Hinder took the stage at 11:30. Crazy! By the time Hinder actually started to play I wanted to go home - as I have been standing for over 4 hours already. The entire venue only has maybe 5 tables and no place else to sit down. Overall, a very bad concert experience. I had to wonder why a big band like Hinder only drew maybe 400 people in the entire venue, I guess because most people wont see a show here.

Super cop complex security! This place has great shows. But the security made me go all the way back to my car to put my bag up I showed them all I had in it was one book. Then forced me to wait at the back of the line again. They never gave a reason why I could not bring it in.Then a female security personnel wouldnt let me go down a isle to get to my seat using her body to shield me demanding rudely if i didnt have a 1st row ticket I couldnt go. I suggested she watch me as I only wanted to go to the other side instead of go through a small isle bothering other patrons. When another patron told her to calm down he was escorted out promptly by someone she called in. I watched as one younger security guy flirted with women all night on the job. I will not be going back if this is how the people who are supposed to make the place fun and safe behave in such a horrible way. STAY CLEAR!

Beautiful venue and nice space. However, a shorter brunette bar tender was rather rude to me. She fussed at me for "double ordering," (which I didnt do, since I just walked up to the bar when she took my order) informing me that I pissed her off for doing so. Her attitude scared me off from ordering another drink. Also check your receipts because I think the tenders added extra tips to both mine and my friends bill. What I signed and what my bank account says are totally 2 different numbers. Alas, I did not keep my receipt so I cannot prove it. (But $20 for 2 drinks that cost around $6? And with a $2 tip. It shouldnt have been over $15.)

Derek turner booked a tour coming through the market and canceled a few days before the show. He neglected to promote the event in an industry standard and refused to reply to any emails about the event. He neglected to send the deposit and when the band was in route he fell off of the face of the earth. I sent him a Facebook message which he read asking him to call me but again he avoided contact. Come to find out this has happened with a few bands that Im friends with in the past. If youre a touring band stay away from this venue and promoter because there is a good chance he will leave you stranded on the side of the road.

I can understand the concern about people smoking in your theater but please for the love of GOD shut off the freaking house lights from the stage. The last concert I was there for (Slightly Stoopid) they kept them on the entire time and even raised the intensity several times. I was both blinded and deaf by the end of the show due to the poor lighting and the horrible sound quality. Shame on the board operator for cranking it to an uncomfortable level. The beer prices were reasonable but there was no garbage cans to put your trash in so it went on the floor. Would reconsider going to see another band there.

This is one of my favorite places to see a show. They are far from perfect... and probably deserve more of a 4.5 star rating... But they are pretty solid on most fronts. Beer prices and selection is good. Plenty of local craft beer to choose from. Its not cheap, but its not crazy. The sound at the madison theater is great. Its better than you would expect. Parking can be tricky here, you might have to walk a few blocks. The neighborhood isnt bad... it looks a little sketchy - but it is actually quite safe.

Neat venue with reasonable drink prices. Unfortunately overzealous security completely ruined the experience for my brother and me. I flew in from Minnesota just for this concert and we were kicked out within 20 minutes of the act we had waited hours to see because I let my brother sniff a shot of tequila someone had purchased for me to smell how strong it was. I wont be coming back here and advise others to avoid. There are much nicer venues around.

I havent been to this place for a show yet, but they sure making getting tickets tough.. they dont take credit cards at the box office, have not been there during times when they were supposed to be open, and dont sell tickets over the phone or online... They need to update their processes!!! If I get into the show I want to see and its a great place, Ill write a better review...
