My sister and I have been going to the Tabernacle for years and weve always considered it one of our favorite concert venues. Lately, however, its changed for the worse. We went to see Vance Joy and I was super excited because it had been a few months since Id been back at the Tabernacle, and my sister and I were pumped to see one of our favorite artists. So we get there and security now checks bags and pats you down from waist to toe. That was really unexpected- heard someone say they have to now for liability reasons. I really dont think that is at all necessary, it felt like going through security at the airport. Plus Id been going there for years and never had to get bag checked before let alone a pat down just felt off-putting. So we enter and we prefer standing at concerts and even though we got there early it was already crowded in the middle area. Now, we usually always stood off to the side near the bar but now they wont even let you go past the poll?? I understand why you dont want people blocking the bar but why not set up a rope for a line to the bar and let people closer to the stage. Plus when the main acts are on stage I feel like the bars on the side should close. The placement of those bars to the side are ridiculous. Either sell less ticket to these events or let people pass the poll! Security told us to squeeze in the middle or go to the back. First off, we didnt want to be rude and get in front of people that had been waiting but thats really what people were doing. They are straight up disrespectful to people who got there hours early and then late people pushed themselves in- I would have been angry if people got in front of me like that. So we just went behind the poll but of course that is where everyone is talking so we could barely hear Vance Joy. Also security are crazy rude about people being in the emergency exit aisle. I understand its a safety reason but having one foot on the mat shouldnt be a big deal. I was trying to enjoy the concert but the security guard kept going up and down the aisle shinning a flashlight in my eye yelling at people to PUSH IN!! He was doing that at literally every song, the concert was almost over nobody was gonna die. Although, I could see someone in the middle getting hurt because of the amount of people being shoved in there. If they arent going to allow people to stand on the sides anymore then they need to sell less tickets. Also drinks are way overpriced and the girls that served us were incredibly rude. Even the sound quality wasnt great, I really noticed it being further from the stage than I prefer. All in all Im really disappointed at how this place has changed. I wont be going back anytime soon, in fact I will avoid this venue at all costs.

Though I agree with many people that the sound system needs an upgrade, the venue itself is hands down the best indoor venue in Atlanta. I have never had any problems with any of the staff, and on several occassion have asked a bartender to hold my jacket until the end of the show (which always works out). The atmosphere, decor, and overall feel on the inside is fantastic. Regarding the sound system; I have heard the loudest single show (bassnectar) of my life here, but also the most quiet show (deadmau5) of my life. On average I do feel as though the volume and/or quality is lacking. Like I said before, even with the poor sound, the Tabernacle is STILL the number 1 indoor venue in ATL. Edit: During my last visit to venue I was approached by one of the staff because I was smoking a cigarette inside, which I had honestly forgot was not allowed. The employee proceeded to pull me to the back of the crowd and demanded that I give him $20 dollars or I would be thrown out of the show. This type of behavior is not something I have ever experience by any of the staff at the Tabernacle, and is completely unacceptable. After paying him $10, the only amount I had on me, I went straight to another staff member and asked to see the manager. The manager (i hope it was the actual manager) informed me he would be dealt with accordingly. I understand I was initially in the wrong, but this still does not give a staff member the ability to blackmail a customer. I hope that in the future, I do not see this man working at the Tabernacle again.

We were a group of 4. We arrived around 730. We were on the main floor. There was not any problems until Shinedown started. The opener was fine, for what we could hear. There was not a proper sound check for the opener, it all sounded fuzzy and not very clear. Once Shinedown started, my wife had to use the bathroom. After about another 15 minutes my friend needed to use the bath room. It was about another 15 minutes later that I noticed my wife still had not returned to show. I look at my phone to see that they were not allowed to return to the floor. I left my friends wife in the show to go see what the problem was. After leaving the main floor there is a line to get back into show. The security guy would not allow my friend at this time to retrieve his wife from the show, as she did not know what was going on. This is when things started to get worse. The security guy starts with this 1 person in / 1 person out, however, his math was very fuzzy, as many people came out the many less were let back in. After about another additional 15 minutes, the Fire Marshall shows up, and we try to explain the situation, and then very heatedly start to explain the situation, and the staff was not very understanding or helpful. I will NEVER return to the tabernacle, I will NEVER recommend the Tabernacle, actually I will tell everyone that I know and anyone that will listen to never return. A completely awful experience. YOU OVERSOLD THE SHOW YOU STOLE FROM ME I WILL NOT FORGET

2/19/16 Excision The Paradox My fiancé and I went to see excision and we almost left before he even came on. First I would like to say that this does not reflect my views on excision bear grillz or Figure. To start the security were extremely rude and overbearing. The Tabernacle or live nation who ever puts on the shows at the Tabernacle over sold tickets all three levels and the downstairs were packed. The dancefloor felt was extremely over packed and made it impossible to dance walk or move without bumping into ten people. Luckily durring the intermission between Bear Grillz and Excision some seats opened up upstairs. The extreme presence of rude security and police made the whole event feel hostile. I understand they both had a job to do but the security especially made us want to leave. If youre planning on going to an edm show no matter who is playing I wouldnt. The ac/heat doesnt work they oversell the venue and the security are rude and overbearing. You cannot bring in camelbaks, Led gloves or anything flow art related, kandi bracelets necklaces or peeler anything, no fanny packs, gum, or gopros. They do not accommodate their edm guests at all! I will never return to the tabernacle again IDC who is playing I will strongly recommend that you dont and anyone who asks doesnt go as well.
