Crimson Peak is horrifically Gorgeous. If you’re looking for a screamer horror, a gore, or even a psychological thriller, this is not that story, although those elements are present. The plot is very simple: rich girl is duped into marrying the very wrong guy and bad things happen. Yet that is by no means a weak point in this movie. In fact, I find this to be a positive. Knowing the basics of the tale releases the audience to let go of control, let go trying to figure it out, and dive into the glory of the madness in the characters. For indeed we are all mad here. There are no tedious exposition moments that explain the whys and wheres. Just simple character flaws that understate and reveal the history of this gothic place known by description as Crimson Peak. I love the subtle mystery that enticed me to hold on to each character that I may get to know them better. And not one of them disappointed. Each performance gave subtle nuances that delighted and enchanted. I really did love this story. It is classic Goth with all the entrails necessary: the beauty at first sight, the hidden fear of unknown, all wrapped up in the crumbling majesty of madness gone by. Things are rarely what they seem, and even when you guess the hidden, that which is darkness isn’t always quite so dark… unless it truly is. Be haunted by the love of Crimson Peak.

Dont believe any positive reviews of this theater. If you have any respect for yourself, your guests or you wallet, you will avoid this place Read the positive reviews and you will notice that they really have nothing to do with the overall movie experience.(pricing, picture and sound quality, theaters and overall service) The majority are posted by "Local Guides", trust me, they are guiding you down a rabbit hole of despair. I assume they have never actually been to another movie theater...sadly CR has few options... which is why Galaxy sees fit to rip off their guests and treat them as if they dont matter. I Cant give this theater even 1 star. Absolutely horrible customer service...actually no customer service (too many examples to note here) and concession prices that are shameful. That would be enough to never, ever return, but when you add dirty, outdated, poorly maintained theaters and you have all the information you need. Anybody posting a positive review of this theater either works there and is trying to provide for their own job security, or has never been to Collins Road Theater where customers are respected and prices are reasonable. Much better overall experience and locally owned and operated.

Its a decent theater. Its my preferred theater in Cedar Rapids. Concessions are ridiculously priced. If you like to go to movies, I highly recommend that you join their rewards program - at least youll earn points toward free concessions, movies, discounts, etc. Also, avoid going during evenings when you can. At least the matinee is less costly (most of the time - some movies are charged full price even during matinees - no idea why). It is a shame that seeing a movie is such an expensive thing to do. Its going to kill the industry especially as Netflix, Redbox, etc., continue to penetrate the movie market. Nothing beats a movie on the big screen, but it will when people are priced out of the entertainment. It was wrongly stated in another review. There are 2 other theaters in town and one shows new releases, as well. The Carmike Wynnsong has 12 screens - new releases. Collins Road Theater is a nice, economical theater with late released movies but with ticket and concession prices at a fraction of the others costs. Collins just got new seats and they are not very comfortable at all, but its probably the best for overall experience.

I hate to be a complainer, and I typically wont write about a bad experience, but I just felt like I had to get this out, 2 things have convinced me not to go back. 1. Seats are almost broken if you sit in any good spot that gets a lot of use. The padding on all the seats in the front-middle were so worn you were sitting on like plastic. Really uncomfortable. I left with a back pain I didnt come in with. 2. The movie was literally too loud, I was actually relieved when it would hit silent parts (it was an action movie to be fair), so my brain could relax. I could have enjoyed it just a little less loud. I left with a headache I didnt come in with. There were other factors like annoying people, long previews, expensive concessions, etc, but realistically the theater cant control that, and I am sure thats anywhere. My next movie will be at the other CR theater, and if that doesnt work, maybe Im just too old for a loud cramped movie theater. TL:DR, makes me feel too old to enjoy movies in the theater, and Im a 26 year old drummer......!

Used to be our favorite theater but the years have taken their toll. Their seats have become worn out and uncomfortable and prices have really become ridiculous! I take advantage of their rewards program which really does help bring he cost down a bit overall. They are under new management and I think they really need to start bring the quality of the place back up to what it used to be. They transitioned to digital little by little and I think they are sufficiently modern, they just need to work on new chairs, more efficient staff, and bring the prices down a little. They recently added a Tuesday night special that we take advantage of a few times. Its a great way to make a sound budget choice to see movies we are dying to see without breaking the bank. Yes, its a Tuesday, but its a good option. There is one other local place that gets most of our business these days, but this place is still a good place to see a movie.

Definitely the worst theater in town. Very expensive and low quality. Staff is rude and clueless. Popcorn is nasty and way over priced. Just about every time we have been there they have had technical difficulties. One time the sound quit halfway through the film. One time the lights never dimmed and were on for the whole film. Once the theater was so hot everyone was sweating by the time the film was over. They also put 20-30 minutes of commercials ahead of every film. They dont start seating a film until a few minutes before it is scheduled start. For popular films this means that they will have a huge line of people waiting in the lobby. The lobby is not capable of handling this. And you do NOT want to be late to a film here, you will end up sitting in the first few rows that are so close to the screen that you will ether leave with a neck ache or miss half of the action. Avoid this theater if at all possible.

We had an amazing time at the movie theatre and we loved the show but the customer service has made us returning a never again ordeal. I personally made a mistake and left my bag at the show and we went back to the theatre and asked and the manager said he would call us back after looking and he never did. So we went back the next day and they gave us the stick. Yes I made a mistake and left my bag but the manager could not even tell us what happened and be honest and kind because of him we will not be returning to this theatre. We also will tell all our friends of our experience because we went to an 11:30 show the last show of the day so deductive thinking leads us to think the only person who could be enjoying my bag was an employee. This movie theatre is expensive and has horrible customer service find somewhere else to go to the movies.
