I had always enjoyed the Collins Rd Theater. The popcorn was fresh, the theater was clean, the staff was professional. However, recently I was there during a summer Free kids movie event. Part of the audience included special needs children. The audience was crowded. The wheelchair option seat were taken by a woman with no wheelchair. She refused to move. When the child was physically lifted and set in a standard theater seat he was stressed. His caregivers attempted to calm him. The theater staff made it clear they had no alternatives and insisted he and his caregiver leave. The staff was rude, loud and completely unprofessional. I appreciate that management has created the free kids movie option. What I dont appreciate was how incredibly rude, insensitive and lazy the staff (and other theater patrons) were. There was no need to make a scene. They could have escorted them quietly. Instead the chose to embarrass them. I will not return to Collins Road theater.

My husband and I love coming to this theatre! The only time we go to one of the "other guys" is when we feel like we must see a movie when it immediately comes out on the big screen. I cringe every time I open up my billfold at one of the "other" theatres. Not only do their concessions cost almost double what Collins Road Theatre charges, but now they charge for the popcorn cheeses and seasonings...are you kidding me? Not only are the prices much more reasonable at Collins for the concessions, but the popcorn tastes so much better!!! Anyone who has ever been to this theatre knows that they are the only theatre in town that serves REAL butter on their popcorn!!! Lastly, its nice to be greeted by the owner and manager on duty every time we come into Collins Road Theatre. That NEVER happens at one of the "other" theatres. Thank you Collins Road Theatre for many enjoyable outings I have shared with my family!!!

The owner introduces himself before every movie and welcomes the audience, kindly requests to turn off cell phones or be asked to leave (should be done everywhere), and draws ticket numbers for prizes. No obnoxious commercials before the movie. No shoving 3D down your throat. The friendliest atmosphere Ive ever experienced at a movie theater. Best prices in the area, including refreshments. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere and insistence on customer service, being half the price of other cineplexes, is well worth the waiting a few more weeks to watch recent movies. I go here or the Bijou at U of I, otherwise no other area theater compares. There is also the annual Super Bowl Sunday event, which is free and all proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity. At which I won a $50 gift card.

The BEST theater in Cedar Rapids, by a LONG way. We have been going to this theater since it opened as a welcome alternative to the big expensive first-run movie houses in Cedar Rapids. We have always had a great experience here. The theater is always clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful. They also have the BEST popcorn in town. It is always fresh and they offer real butter to put on it. They also allow you to butter it yourself, so you get it exactly how you want. The have done a great job of maintaining the theater. The seats are new and comfortable, not all broken and worn out like at the big theaters. They have state of the art digital projection and sound systems, even 3d for some films. We will continue to go back every chance we get!

My family and I just came from this movie theater and it was not pleasant at all. The only thing good about this movie theater was the popcorn. While watching the movie there where kids screaming out profanity in the back of us and they kept walking in out of the isle. As well two kid in front of us shouting out god only knows. Which any good theater will check inside the room to make sure the people are able to enjoy the showing. When I went to ask for a refund the said sorry for the disruption but we cant give you a refund. This by far is the worst movie theater Ive every been to and will be the last. I rather spend more money and be able to enjoy what I watching, then to hear misbehaved children who parents should have been with their kid

Who needs to spend mega-bucks and hassle with long lines and packed theatres to see a movie the first day it is out? Not us. This theatre is the best kept secret for prices, comfort, snacks, and movies you want to see. We love going here. Usually end up going just before a movie we want to see is about to leave. Never crowded. Matinees are the best! And the best popcorn in town with REAL butter; not that "buttery tasting" popcorn oil (that doesnt really taste like butter anyway). Take the whole family and enjoy a great movie for not a lot of $.

The best of movie theaters, by far, in the CR area. Bruce is constantly in front of the public, whether it be behind the counter overseeing the (friendly and helpful) staff, or when he is handing out free food coupons, raffle-style, at the beginning of shows. Keep in mind, the movie theatre is mostly a second-run showing, but I can easily wait 2,3, 4 weeks to see the movie at a 60% savings. Real buttered popcorn and concessions (at half the cost of other theatres), helpful staff, and clean theatres make this an easy choice for movie-going.

I have been a faithful customer of Collins Road theater since you have opened. Unfortunately, what has made you great in the past is being lost. Rarely do you give away free popcorn or pop anymore. Your budget theater is no longer a deal. You have to realize that your screens are tiny. I dont see the need to actually pay more to see second run movies than $5 first run movies down the street on massive screens. The gimmick of "real butter" popcorn has worn off.

Have always loved going here since I was a kid and was happy when it re-opened. I echo the voices of other reviewers: great staff, very affordable prices, good audio-visual quality, great seats, plenty of room. Years ago that 1-star review was written about disruptive children. I would stand up and tell them to shut up before I get them kicked out and would do just that if they carried on. Never had that experience here, though. Always a great time!

The trolls that dont like this dont understand the model or how it is different from big boxes like Wehrenberg...kids yelling profanities bitched one reviewer...never, ever experienced anything even remotely like that...Bruce is great and runs a tight ship and offers tremendous value to his customers. Trailer park kids are everywhere...sadly their parents arent with them !

Had the greatest experience at Collins road, was able to buy 2 tickets and a popcorn for $13 seats were great and movie was great. I ended up forgetting my wallet, I called and they happily invited me to come back and get it. The employee working stayed late just so I could get my wallet and seemed very happy doing so. Could not be happier would give 6 stars if I could
