I have been to this theatre a few times in the last 13 years. Today, my wife and I brought our two kids (8 and 4) to see Cars 3. After purchasing tickets and popcorn, my son and I went to the bathroom. I was shocked by the plentitude of sensual photos of women on the wall of the mens bathroom. This is supposed to be a "family-friendly" theatre in small, quaint downtown Sycamore. At best, these photos are distasteful and no doubt perpetuate the perspective of women as enticing, sexual objects. I kindly and gently spoke to the manager immediately after exiting the bathroom. I told her that I thought the photos were inappropriate for a family theatre like this. Without hesitation, she was staunchly defensive. "All the women are clothed," she said. "Ive been here 10 years, and no one has ever brought that up," she continued. I would humbly ask that Sycamore State Theatre replace these photos, in addition to evaluating their quality of customer service at the management level.

My family and I come here all the time to catch the latest films. The prices are perfect for families, and like the reviews before mine, the staff are very warm, and welcoming to the people coming and going to the theatre. They are always up to date on the newest movies and speaking of which, I have to silence my phone cause Im watching a movie here right now. Hope you take some time to come and visit the theatre to watch a movie sometime!!

Nice local Mom and Pop place. Priced very reasonable. First run movies. Theather is very old, but kept fairly neat and clean. If you want statium seating this is not the place to go. But much of the experience you get from the visit has to do with the ambiance. It takes me back to when I was a kid going to the movies. Popcorn, pop, candy, and a good movie for a good price...what more do you want?

Great theater i come from the chicago area nw burbs and you do not have places like this there. This theater is great and has prices well below the large corporate movie houses. Good place for a date. Also good place for people on a tight budget like college students. But few venture out this far from campus like my self.Consetions are also very reasonably priced. All in all a very good theater.

This is not a huge theater but the movies are new and the people are so unbelievebly friendly., the prices are less than in a bigger place and when you are taking several kids, that really helps. $6.00 per ticket. And the prices of the popcorn and candy and pop are way less than in the new, bigger theaters. All in all it is wonderful place to go and see a movie.

This theatre is a family run establishment doing the best it can to deliver. Youll get the hometown feel from it as soon as you step through the door. If youre looking for the high tech reclining chairs and the brand spanking new coke machines, this isnt your place. This is a classic theatre straight out of the 70s that is a staple of Sycamores downtown.

This, by far, is the best movie theater in the area. Admission is the least expensive in the area, the theaters are cleaned after EACH showing- no sticky floors here. It is a family owned and operated business, so they really care about making the experience a good one so people with come back. Its the only place well go for movies.

We accidentally got the time for the movie wrong and so they allowed us to go to the next showing with the same ticket. Friendly staff. Not anything fancy but decent. Clean. Didnt like that you have to pay an extra .50 cents if you use a credit/debit card but the price is still decent so... Cant complain too much

Really enjoyed my first visit last week. Fresh popped popcorn as well as caramel, cheddar, and a few others. There were plenty of concession available at a price where the whole family could get something and not bust the entertainment budget. Enjoyed it the first time and hope to many times to come.

Friendly family owned theater with a standard of quality movies no R rated movies, fun to take the kids to or have a date night. Loads of fun restaurants and pubs walking distance too. The hoppers poppers popcorn at the concession stand is expensive but delicious and worth the splurge.

We love this theatre! Close to home with family friendly prices. The BEST popcorn and theatre candy around. Actually, that is one of the reasons the kids prefer Sycamore State Street Theatre. Love the owner and so very pleased they are part of our community!

This theater is great. Screens arent huge but neither are the ones at carmike and at least they treat you nice here and the tickets and food are a lot cheaper and oh yeah the place is cleaned regularly. Its worth the extra drive for people in dekalb.

Hubby and I prefer this theater to "Carmike" in DeKalb. Not only is it SO MUCH CLEANER, and less expensive but the staff are genuinely a pleasure to talk to. Great location, quaint, and its "locally owned and operated". Oh, and GET THE POPCORN!!!!

I always enjoy this theater. It is very nice, and I like that it is small. Everyone is very friendly and it is nice and clean. They show good and new movies and though it is an old building it is very comfortable.

This is a small family owned theater. The prices are lower than large theaters and the crowds are usually smaller. Seats are kind of old and not very comfortable. The popcorn is great here.

Lovebthe theatre. Just what a historic public theatre/ now movie theatre should be. Its a little dank and shabby, , but its the only theatre I want to go to in the DeKalb area

Theyve given up. This is a beautiful, historic building. But it desperately needs some repairs. Floors were sticky, seats are uncomfortable. Dark lobby but friendly staff.

Check there first whenever there is a movie I want to see. Small and never packed. And has cheap 2 dollar movies sometimes
