This theater looks like a theater should look like. When you walk in, theres a nice popcorn counter. On the other wall are posters for upcoming movies. Next comes the hallway where there are about half a dozen doors that lead to the aisles of the main theater. This is your first clue youre not in a 6 screen megaplex - all the doors lead to the same screen. When you walk through the doors, theres one large screen. The walls and ceiling are very ornate. You feel as if youre going to rub shoulders with movie stars. Some other fun facts - if you have kids, during Summers they have a Wednesday morning movie deal. Movies for a buck with some fun games and some movie character to greet. They toss out t-shirts. Pretty fun but get there early as they can get pretty packed. They run some traditional movies around the holidays - you may see "Its a Wonderful Life" during Christmas or the original Halloween in October. They also have an organist that plays their vintage organ periodically. And to add to all the above, the price is very reasonable. This place is the way movies should be.

The theater gave a free tour one Saturday from 10 to noon. Even though it was free I never imagined a line around the block. Apparently with the mass email, a write up in the paper and a Facebook notice, half of the western burbs came out. They have done tours before and never had quite the turn out. Unfortunately we never got the full tour because of the crowd. While waiting in line for almost two hours in the sun the staff brought out water and kept us up to date of the situation. When we got near the door they realized that we were not going to get in even after they extended the number of tours. They ended up letting the excess into the theater where the owner gave a short lecture about the theaters history and then let us roam around the building including behind the stage, down in the basement and the back of the bowling alley. Staff was all over giving impromptu short talks about the inner workings of the beautifully historic building. They were so nice and accommodating - I was super impressed as they could have said "screw it" and sent us all packing.

I love this theater. My husband and I try to go out once a month even if it is just to see a movie. This time around we decided to see Batman at the Tivoli Theater. I absolutely adored it. It was so beautiful and elegant inside it is hard to even describe. I felt as if I was living in the Renaissance, it truly has it’s charm to it. The movie experience was great as well. We had some popcorn and soda (prices are just like a regular movie theater). We will return here again shortly because I really fell in love with this place. The staff was very pleasant as well!!

This is a cool theater. The guy playing the organ before evening movies on weekends is a lot of fun. The classic styling and decorations are a nice throwback and add the the charm of the place. The sound does echo ever so slightly during movies because the space is so huge and the walls arent sound dampened; however the tickets are cheap enough that that can be overlooked. Also, there are so many seats that its unlikely that you will end up sitting next to any annoying people. Usually, youll have an entire row to yourself!

An excellent evening out. Movie tickets are cheap, popcorn has free refills, and its in an excellent part of town to wander around after the movie and enjoy the evening. The screen is enormous and theres more than enough seating for any film they show. On top of all this, theyll have their club films which are classics or little known but powerful independent films and at these events you can get yourself a beer or mixed drink. Ive taken all my friends to the Tiv, they all agree its the best theater around.

Just saw INTERSTELLAR on original 35mm last night. The movie was great but the movie-going experience was incredible. They really rolled out the red carpet for everyone. The CEO was there to personally greet everyone and invite us up to see the actual film reel hooked up to the projector. The concessions are fairly priced and they give you free refills on ANY size popcorn. Also the mints at the end make it such a welcoming experience. Love all of their theaters!

HUGE screen! 1,000 seats. Real classic Theater. Air conditioning perfect. Seats comfortable. Seats set so all seats are good - staggered and floor slant. Drink holders at seats. Snack bar good. Pizza shop next door. Ice Cream store less than one block away. Across from Downers Grove Main Street Train Station North side . Street and lot parking. After Hours Film Society showings usually at this theater on some Monday nights.

We went here to go see Argo and I couldnt believe how huge and gorgeous this theater is. The screen is huge and the sound was great. The organ player in the beginning was really entertaining and the cost was only $5 for the movie. The place feels like a 1920s theater that was done well, feels very warm and vintage. By far the best theater in the Chicago suburbs and the cheapest. Highly recommend checking it out!

I love the classic cinema theaters because they are the best theaters in the world. My goal is to visit each one at-least once. I am a classic rewards member. It really benefits me because I go to this movie theater on a regular basis. I have visited at-least 6 cinema thus far and looking to visit each one in Illinois. Great seats, popcorn and great atmosphere is better than Netflix.

This is my all time favorite movie theater and one of the last of its kind. One giant screen with 5 isles, beautiful high ornate ceiling & if you go there on the right night, an organ playing before the previews. Its old school Hollywood glam. A few years ago they renovated and put in seats with armrests that go up, but the retro charm is still in tact.

I love coming here with my friends during the summer for Wednesday morning movies and the Wednesday morning movies only cost 1 dollar for a ticket! Awesome plus there are free refills on drinks and popcorn but be careful when Star Wars comes around there are long lines around the block so buy your ticket early! (learned that the hard way last year)

Love this place! I go every Wednesday morning in the summer with my best friends to see the movies that are only $1 tickets! Normal movies however are around $5. The staff there is super nice! I have made so many wonderful memories there! I also really enjoy the bowling alley right next to the theatre!!!

I love this theatre! Classic and classy. Way to go on preserving the history of this theatre. Great atmosphere and entertainment before the show on fridays and saturdays with the organist. The staff are super friendly and the admission is great. I even seen they used this theatre in a Geico commercial.

A beautiful step-back in time, with all of the benefits of modern technology (digital projection, awesome surround-sound) and comfy seats. Never a packed house...its too massive (I did not attend, but Star Wars may have filled the place up). Travel to see this place...even if the movie is garbage!
