This is a great venue to see a concert. It seats about 3200 people and there is not a bad seat in the place. The seats are terraced so you need not worry about a tall person sitting in front of you. Alcohol and food are available. I have read reviews from whiny people doing what they do...whining. There are some things you need to know that should be obvious to those with a pulse. It is an outside venue and it is located in Florida. This means that if you go to a concert there in July, there is a good chance that it is going to be hot. This should not come as a surprise. Some have complained that "there is not enough parking and you end up having to pay $10 to park." Oh My...how horrible. The fact of the matter is that you are going to pay for parking, on or offsite, whenever you go to a concert. Virtually NO large venue, anywhere, has enough parking for everyone that can be seated at the venue and parking offsite is a simple reality. St. Aug. Amphitheather has a great deal for parking. You pay $10 and catch a bus to the venue. Buses run every ten minues. I have been to over 10 shows and have never waited even 5 minutes for a bus. I am also pretty sure that the parking benefits a charity. It may seem shocking or unconscionable to some but many times I have chosen to...WALK!. The horror! The one valid complaint that I have read is that it is true that the folding chair seats in the pit area are very small and are too close together. I simply choose not to pay extra to sit in this section. As for sound; I have sat in virtually every section of the amphitheater and the vast majority of the bands I have seen there have had an excellent mix. Unfortunately, "Rise Against" played so loud that they distorted their PA System This was the fault of the band and not the venue. As for the person who complained about the sound in the pit seating area at the"Steely Dan" concert; I atended that concert and sat in that same section and thought the sound was excellent. Perhaps they needed new batteries in their hearing aids. Even better yet; maybe they should have stayed home and waited for the Palladium broadcast that they could watch from the comfort of their own couch. In summary, this is a great, fairly small venue. With the possible exception of a few obstructed view seats, there are no bad seats. It is outside. Weather is a factor. Deal with it or stay home. As with all concerts, You will have to pay to park and probably walk a bit to get to the venue. in closing..... Dont listen to the whiners. This is a great place to see a show. Waaaaah. Would you like some cheese with that whine?

Ive been to the St Augustine Amphitheater a number of times for concerts. Went on May 14, 2016 to see Styx, 38 Special and the Outlaws. Concert was amazing especially 38 Special and Styx.Outlaws could have used a better sound person. Music was distorted. I only had one complaint. I am disabled and use a 4 wheel walker to help me get around. Once I was inside the amphitheater I needed someplace safe to stow the walker because it is too big to store next to my seat and the only places they could offer was to put it between a walkway barrier and a pole at the end of a row of seats or leave it next to a wall in one of the entrance/exit ramps into the seating area. Neither area was near where our seats were but I was told they would try and keep an eye on it. My husband offered to take it back out to our vehicle but was told he wouldnt be allowed to re enter the venue. I attended a concert at an amphitheater in Charlotte, NC and they had a place where I could actually leave my walker in a storage area specifically for stuff like that. They gave me a ticket to claim it after the concert and provided a golf cart ride to within a few feet of my seat. Granted this amphitheater was much larger than St Augustines and I didnt need the ride to my seat but it would have been nice to actually have a safe place where you leave stuff like mobility aids that you cant take to your seat with you rather than taking a chance of just leaving it basically out in the open and hope the volunteer actually keeps an eye on it. There is very little handicapped seating and I feel its better left for people who are confined to their mobility aids such as wheelchairs, electric scooters or wheelchairs so thats why I didnt want to try to purchase a seat in those areas. Thankfully my walker was still there where I had to leave it. Just a suggestion for the powers that be at the amphitheater to come up with a better system for issues such as this. Otherwise everything about the place is fantastic. Really enjoyed this concert and the others Ive attended there.

Steely Dan 09/08/2013...sat in the center pit section for $100 per ticket. Upon arriving there were four huge guys in our seats without wristbands for the section so the ushers obviously let their friends in to use unoccupied seats. Nice way to start a show! The seats are sized for kindergarden kids so you have to sit sideways or alternate one person leaning forward the next leaning back. We were center pit about 15 rows from the stage and could not hear any highs such as lead vocal, lead guitar, etc. To our amazement when we went to the upper deck the sound was pretty good but not very loud. We went to the Alabama concert the month before and sat in the cheap seats and the sound was good but the heat and humidity were oppressive. Finally, the parking sucks big time. The moral is only buy the cheapest tickets for this venue so you can offset a horribly directed sound system, only go in the cooler months and take a cab. Better yet, go see your show somewhere else.

The amphitheater itself is beautiful and a very pleasant place to be in at a concert. Ive never had problems with security they are usually really nice until last time where security was being unfair to the people who arrived early. They were ok with letting people who arrived hours later to go in before the people who there much earlier( except the security guard Chris, he was very nice). They were not honoring those who arrived first and this was extremely unfair. We had put numbers on our hands to indicate who was there first, and we were all agreeing to be civil in walking in our order. In my opinion I think they should have let those people in first and not those who didnt have a number at all. This is possible to do Ive seen it done at the Amalie arena in Tampa, theyre security was very fair and efficient, st Augustine amphitheater should take notes...

We traveled from Orlando to St. Augustine for the OAR concert and was surprisingly impressed with this venue. Im a fan of more intimate locations but this was great. We met up with some friends who were camping and walked to the show through the "secret back way".. or what felt like it at least. The alcohol vendors were setup up front and there were never any long lines. And considering our group was drinking a lot, that was a great thing. The bathrooms were clean and it didnt feel overcrowded. I really liked the fact the General Admission area was up front. We usually go to the Amphitheater in Tampa but this venue is so much better!
