Visited Russian Chapel Hills Winery this past weekend and as a first time visitor enjoyed the owners company. She is incredibly personable and attentive to customers. The tasting room is adorable. Nicely decorated and theres a comfortable vibe here. My husband and I did the full flight of whites and reds, but regretfully did not venture out on the grounds to see the chapel itself. The grounds layout makes it a bit hard to know where to go here, and even parking was a bit confusing. Once you follow the signs to parking, theres a house, a couple of levels of driveway, and a circle but theres a private property feel and a lack of signage that clearly says "Customer Parking." The wines themselves are good, though I did purchase more of the imported bottles than the winerys own. I bought a Viura and a Tempranillo, as the latter is kind of an obsession for me right now. Russian Chapel Hills Winery enjoys a relationship with a fellow who owns a Spanish vineyard and imports to them via the Ukraine, I believe. I have an appreciation for the fact that RCHW grows their own grapes as I have been to others that do not. RCHW offered a plate of assorted crackers during our tasting. I had a backpack picnic lunch and brought in some other food to round out the experience after checking with the owner of course. Outside food is apparently welcome. Its worth noting that RCHW tastings are slightly less expensive than others in the area but do not include a souvenir wine glass. The bottles of wine were nicely packaged in a box that made for easy transport. Overall, a nice location with a full selection of homegrown wines tended by the sweetest proprietor.

My husband and I love vineyards and have hit over a dozen in Western North Carolina as part of an ongoing road trip. We go as much for the ambiance as for the wine. Really loved this one on both counts. Have to say this is some of the best wine we have had anywhere. So unique! Nothing tastes quite the way you expect it to, and it is all so much different and better than what you can get in a grocery store. The wine really has its own personality. We spent a beautiful afternoon looking out into the beautiful vineyard from a table in the shade and just enjoying the ambiance. The owner and those who run it are awesome hosts with a great story and youll like them as much as the wine. Cant wait to go back!

Wine here is the best wine Ive had in a loooong time. This vintner is really good! He has made an excellent honey wine, the muscadine is extremely unique and a little woodsy. I would highly recommend stopping here for amazing tasting wine. The place is nice too! Theres a cute chapel on the grounds that is neat to go visit. It is less of a place to spend the day, but more of a place to just taste good wine.

Stopped there last Sunday. Met the owner Andrey and his assistant. Enjoyed the tasting and bought two cases of their wine. A very nice experience that shall be revisited again and again. Cant wait for this years crop.

This is a special place. We came on a Saturday and it was peaceful and quiet. The owner welcomed us and we tried all the wines. We felt so comfortable and welcomed, it felt like home.
