The website says they take their last customers at 430 completely wrong!! We got here at 4:15 and were rushed by the two ladies at the main entrance. We were told to go to 3r the ballroom, first because that closes at 4:30. Ok that was fine. So we rushed around the two top floors. By 4:35 we tried to go to the second floor but we couldnt they had shut the elevator off. So we go to the first floor to speak to the same two woman who were rude to begin with, I asked why we couldnt go to the second floor. And the rudest lady of them all she said her name was Dell was so beyond rude saying that they told us they would be closing. Mind you when we bought the tickets we were told we would not be rushed and the last entry was at 4:30 I asked for a refund seeing as it was not 5 and thats what time they close. The lady dell snickered with an attitude saying they close at 5 I said I get that and we are rising around as it is, I understand yall want to go home but this is not fair. She would not refund me I had to ask several times to speak to a manager. Finally Dell went and got the manager Pauline which she was nice and reopened level two for us. We quickly did that level and level one. And we were out of there by 5:10. We would have loved to spend more time there, but with the staff you have we could not. Even if it was another half hour. We have to go home tonight so we basically just wasted money coming here having to take pictures of everything so we can read later on what exactly we were looking at. Only one good thing about this place was the lady on the 3rd floor 3r to be exact she was very nice and I wish I had gotten her name. My opinion in working with the public the website should say last customer come in at 3 and give Dell some lessons in kindness because she is a very hateful old woman!! We were here for fathers day by the way thanks a lot!!

Este local é parada obrigatória para quem visita St Augustine. É um complexo com museu e várias galerias de arte, pequenos cafés e salas de leitura. Se estiver sem pressa escolha uma das Salas para tomar um café, conversar e relaxar neste ambiente super tranquilo. Você pode ser surpreendido com uma apresentação de música clássica, reconstituição da Guerra Civil Americana ou leituras de poemas de escritores da língua inglesa. Infelizmente não existe visitas guiadas que informem detalhes da história do prédio. No local há várias pequenas lojas de arte e algumas delas oferecem internet grátis para seus visitantes. A entrada no prédio do complexo é gratuita, a entrada para o Museu é tarifada.

They have an impressive collection of artifacts! This was my husbands favorite stop in St. Augustine. There were several things that stood out in this three story museum. For starters, they have Winston Churchills lion... Stuffed, but still, I did not realize he owned a lion. Second, I should mention this used to be the Hotel Alcazar which was known for its amenities; one in particular being the bath house on the second floor -we had to get pictures! However, what was most impressive was the pool. Where the cafe and shops on the first floor are now located used to be a swimming pool! They have photos and descriptions on the third floor that depict how during special occasions, musicians would float around on a boat while guests swam! I highly recommend the museum, but if you decide against it, at least go see the cafe to see the pool!

While the items on display were great, it was not what drew me into this place. This building that houses the collection is an old hotel. I am very fascinated with buildings that have been abandoned and Im equally fascinated when those buildings are reused for other purposes. I find it mysterious when a room, for example, may be used as a coffee shop, but previously, it was a swimming pool. That is the case here. The coffee shop is actually situated down inside what used to be the first indoor swimming pool in the USA. Some exhibits are found in a grand ballroom, while others are chopped up in small rooms that were part of a health spa or fitness area... complete with steam fixtures in the sauna room. The architecture is amazing... inside and outside. This was a very good tour for me. Loved it.

This museum is beautiful from the outside! Beautiful windows a magnificent koi fish pond... but once inside this museum was kind of dumpy. I was unsure if the place was going through renovations or if it always looks like this. Many of the displays were either empty, full yet placed behind an empty shelf hiding the artifacts from view and some of the art was placed there with no description. The volounteer guide was only somewhat helpful, she had no clue how some of the art was aquired. All in all the museums first floor was the only one worthwhile. I loved the "victorian avenue" and the science exhibit was quite fascinating. The history of the sight was much more intriguing than the mediocre exibits. The pricing is great for students, but the adult price is a bit too steep!

The museum was very nice ... However we visited the museum for the first time and was greated by a seemingly nice woman named Bonnie at the desk and asked if they had any discounts since it was 45 minutes to closing .... She said unfortunately no and charges me and my two senior parents full admission. As we were leaving we noticed a sign that said free after 5:30 and confirmed with a very nice and knowledgeble volunteer Tom... We were mislead by Bonnie who chose greed over service toward her fellow human beings and first time guest of the town. My parents were very disappointed and we will not be back to the Lighner mueseum .

This exceeded my expectations by far. A large collection of interesting things to pique our curiosity and encourage us to explore all of the avenues that life has to offer. It think this would be great for people of all ages (we saw children, teens, adults, seniors, etc). I highly encourage this to everyone. Its a great way to broaden your horizons and experience art, culture, history, etc. And it was only $10 total for both of us with the Groupon. Plus, I believe they will let you back inside the very next day (for free) if you didnt finish looking at everything on your first visit.

Beautiful art and architecture of the building and the wonders that are inside. They should however invest more in fixing the wonderful old musical instruments there and renovations to the building itself and some of the art. Last time I was there some of the light bulbs were out in the ground floor so I couldnt see some of the old collection items. I think renovating this building to be LEED certified like they did for the old government building would help a lot and save money in the long run. It is an asset to Saint Augustine and the city should fund more into preserving it.

Quel beau musée. Il vaut larrêt et la visite. Ancien hôtel de la fin du 19e siècle la bâtisse est superbe avec sa piscine intérieure convertie en restaurant.Objets hétéroclites avec en plus un cabinet de curiosités. À lautomne 2017 il va y avoir lexposition Downton Abbey un coup sûr !
