This is a small Nature Center with a loop trail around a small lake. There are trail guides that correspond to markers around the trail. The trail can flood during inclement weather as the Center is in a natural drainage basin so it is sometimes not possible to make the full loop. The Nature Center is tiny but has a good history of the Huntington Beach area including the mysterious cog stones that have been found throughout the area. Admission is free but the accept donations.

As a volunteer at Shipley Nature Center since 2004, I recommend Shipley Nature Center as a great experience for everyone, young and older alike, to experience this 18-acre natural refuge located near the northwest corner of Central Park in Huntington Beach, California. Come to see lizards, rabbits, squirrels, scores of birds, and native Southern California plants.

Shipley Nature is a beautiful place in Central Park. There are butterflies and birds flying all around, squirrels, bunny rabbits, insects and coyotes. Every summer there is a camp here called, Inside the Outdoors and its amazing. If you have young kids, this is a great place for them to spend their summers.

Over 4,000 feet of trails that travel through different habitats, including Torrey pines, meadows, willow trees, a freshwater wetland, oak woodlands, and sycamore trees. Well worth the trip.

Great place to explore nature with my toddler! The paths were just right for her and we used the critter counter sheet to guide our exploration.
