I signed up for a family membership in September 2013 for a Cello class that was supposed to start in October. The class ended up being cancelled for lack of participants but I was NEVER notified. Not until I actually changed my schedule at work, rented the instrument and showed up for my first class was I informed that there was NO class. I then inquired about private instruction through the school as I was determined. I was then instructed to research the email of the instructor who would have held the class that was canceled but she was booked so possibly another instructor or a credit twords another class? Translation: I was told I needed to pretty much hunt down my own private teacher which might not even be available for a lesson. It was a very very frustrating experience I truly feel could have been accommodated with an alternative. Which respectfully should have been someone from the school personally telling me the class had been cancled and then helping me to organize a private lesson! Especially for something that was supposed to not only be fun and healthy but an experience Im missing out on! Hoping another class would come available, I sat on a credit for the Cello class hoping for another but by January, after leaving several messages. I still had no response from anyone regarding a Cello lesson. I then called again this time leaving a message requesting information regarding student classes thinking Id have better luck. Then again I called to inquire about the summer music program at the new Lowry location for my 8 year old daughter. Still nothing, No information or return phone calls from either location! I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY I PAID FOR A FAMILY MEMBERSHIP TO A SCHOOL THAT CAN NOT ACCOMIDATE THE CLASSES THEY POST ON A SCHEDULE THEY SEND OUT TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY! I ALSO DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY BOTH LOCATIONS HAVE DROPPED THE BALL WHEN IT COMES TO PERSONALLY COMMUNICATING TO THIS MEMBER WHAT IS AND IS NOT AVAILABLE! And respectfully, assisting me with finding an alternative when they can not accommodate something I PAID FOR should not be a frustrating nightmare! I finally had to request a refund. They had no problem getting back to me with regards to that! Pretty disappointed with my experience and the lack of follow up and communication Swallow Hill! It wasnt worth my small amount of free time, the stress or the $$$. I wouldnt recommend starting or renewing a membership to a place I cant even attend a scheduled paid class in, nor get the respect of a little help finding an alternative class which should have been private instruction through the school! Even with the free concerts. As much as I enjoy listening to music and instructions, the point was to help my family LEARN! We have walked away from this experience with NO classes no communication and a membership that isnt worth any value or up to standing for its purpose!

If you havent been to a Swallow Hill concert, you arent a serious Denver folk/bluegrass aficionado. This is a great organization that is much more than a concert venue--it is also a music school with great teachers at all levels. A great way to resume your guitar or ukulele habit. For the past few years they have also been running the concert series at the marvelous Denver Botanic Gardens, so you might even have been to a Swallow Hill concert without knowing it.

Ive played the fiddle for almost 14 years now (since I was 7) and Swallow Hill has been a huge part of my foundation. Ive had 2 incredible teachers throughout my time with Swallow Hill and between private lessons, and having member access to amazing performances, my love of bluegrass only continues to grow. Thanks Swallow Hill!

Swallow hill is on of the most unprofessional places I have ever wasted time and money on. Constant rescheduling of prepaid courses. Teachers enter with little to no game plan and run out during private lessons to make copies or even take phone calls. Please go elsewhere.

Great concerts, good music school. Group classes do get canceled if less than 3 students sign up, and anyone who did sign up is notified of the cancellation. The fact that classes get canceled due to lack of interest does not warrant the one poor review.

Swallow Hill Music Association is one of my favorite places to be! Everyone there has a creative passion for music and it resonates (har har) throughout everything that they do. Me and my ukulele - we just LOVE IT!

Affordable classes. The rooms are comfy and the staff are great. Like any classroom experience, some teachers are better than others--but Ive had nothing but good luck there and would recommend it to anyone.

Not bad. Get in and out pretty quick. Security is better at the bridge to Concourse A than down by the trains.
