I took my son to see Nut Job 2 . They open at 10:45 which was 15 min prior to the showing. Its remodeled but not up to date if that makes any sense. I say that because its still old school all the seats are flat level. The new recliner seats are comfy and the the arm rests lift up. Its not really appealing or accommodating to a toddler. The seats are low so had he been a tad bit shorter id have to sit him on my lap to get a full view. I sat in the center mid way in the theatre and once the movie started the 2 lights in the room stayed on which was annoying. I think the lighting set up could have been better. As for food, i only bought a large icee which was 5 bucks and paid 5 bucks each matinee to get in. The food is more than other theatres , you have to ask for prices because they dont have pricing signs or combos, i was particilarly looking for kids meals like offered at reading cinemas valley plaza. They dont sell pretzels as of now. I was so pissed i live to go to the movies just for those. LOL. Its was an ok experience i may go see an adult movie next weekend but single level seating is really annoying its gonna take some getting use to. My advise do a matinee eat prior, take snacks with you or else that consession stand will drain you. There is a reason why there is no signage up.

Awful. Went to watch the new James Bond movie here since it was no longer at my regular theater. I should of waited till it came out on video then try and watch it here. Its an older theater and shows signed of wear in the theater seats and flooring along with the grimy unkept bathrooms. There must of been a water leak in the theater due to mounds of paper towels covering the floor to the doors entrance. An hour into the movie the picture went out, of course it was during the chase scene! One person trying to leave the theater tripped on the seat while another fell in the isle. There was also a male who apparently fell asleep and started snoring. The only thing that was good was the popcorn.

Once upon a time, I left a review for the Starplex theater. 5 stars for their dollar movies and pretty good popcorn and hot dogs. Today, Im editing it to review the AMC theater with plush seating and updated features. Goodbye bargain movies, hello full price admission and beer served at concession. Its a nice theater but seemingly out of place in its area. I know theyre trying to make this stretch of Bakersfield more appealing but basically, it just excluded most of the surrounding residents from seeing a good movie or a flop for only a buck. I wish it well and hope they build another dollar theater somewhere else. We need it.

A/C isnt working properly, why wouldnt they replace old outside doors to keep the cool in? No place to conveniently pay cash for tickets. The recliners are not that comfortable and do not recline fully or are narrow and arms are not soft enough. Could not get comfortable! The controls suck, hard to control. Theres a 10 second blackout between previews, so awkward. So dark in the theaters its hard to find your seat. Very different from the Galaxy in Tulare, they have all the amenities, gourmet treats, alcohol, great recliners with table, very cool and very classy. Ill be going back to the Maya.

Nice Remodel! Happy to see the much needed upgrade to this run down place. The prices are very reasonable for the comfort and options you get. 9 bucks to see a movie in a recliner without the hassle of people kicking my head is great. Added bonus that I can have a beer with my movie. Happy to see our town is moving in the right direction. Many complaint about the price, but compared to other places it is on par with the price. If you want to save a couple of bucks, wait until the movie is out on redbox and it would still save you much more than the old dollar movies.

This movie theater is poorly kept! It smelled like homeless people lived there and there was vomit on the back wall of the theater #1. The chairs had stains on them, not sure I want to know were the stains came from. Chairs were broken. The floor felt slippery as if they covered in with butter. I will not be coming back to this theater again! I much rather pay the ridicules prices of regular theaters than sit in other peoples filth. Oh and when I walked in to get my seats the employees had just finished cleaning it. Very disgusting theater!

The remodel was a joke. AMC wasted their money. They should have never tried to rebuild this small theater. Someone is market research messed up badly. The place should have been torn down. It was an old theater to begin with, all they did was polish it up with new paint. This place is in an abandon area of town. Most of this area is being torn down and rebuilt. This is not an adult theater as advertised, just wait until the new theater on Calloway and Rosedale highway opens. They will have food and serve alcoholic beverages.

The remodel is very nice. No more smelly, stained, sticky floors. The theater rooms are still the same dark, small size but the reclining seating are spaced out far enough so no one bumps you or visa versa. Completely different (better) crowd now that its no longer a "dollar theater". I would have given it a higher rating had the theater actually offered everything that appears on their website including the bar and food options. The irritable employees need to work on their attitudes as well.

I have been going to this theater since I was a teenager. Not only does it bring back wonderful memories. But the tickets are super reasonable. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the other theatres in town. But it allows families or single mothers struggling financially to still have movie day. Thank you for being here. For those of us a little less fortunate. I ask anyone reading to see a movie or several here. So they can remain open for a very long time. See you there soon.

I love the dollar theater you seriously cannot beat their prices. I love taking my 2 year old twins, and 10 month old baby, too all the kid movies that come out. It so cheap and usually not packed, so the kids can kinda stand up and talk a little, and enjoy the expeierence, instead of me getting on to them as if I would be doing if we were at the regular movie theaters. It isnt the cleanest or nicest place, but again its so cheap and popcorn good that oh well, I still live it lol

Paid 4.99 for a matinee, plus they serve beer seats are great just dont like assigned seating it should be open seating the line takes forever to buy tickets because of the assigned seats, I used to go there in the late 80s early 90s it was fun then. When it was the dollar theater it was nasty with nasty people and dirty atmosphere nice remodel to an old favorite
