The whole place is done with kind of a retro-50s look. Its really cool. Instead of the typical theater room, its divided into three tiered sections, with tables and chairs- and a full bar right inside the room! They have a bunch of good beers on tap, including local brew Redwood Curtain IGA. The staff is pretty cool, too, especially the one guy that works the bar... Cant remember his name, but hes a short, thin guy with a wicked sense of humor and a great smile. The Sci Fi Pint & Pizza Night is awesome fun. They show old so-called horror movies, like Godzilla and The Fly, plus crazy things like the old Johnny Weismueller Tarzan and the original Nosferatu. Theres even a raffle, with weird prizes like action figures and books, plus movie tickets and gift cards. They do kids movies on Sunday, which is a lot of what I go see. I like that they do classics I remember from when I was a kid, like The Muppets, or Dark Crystal. And Disney flicks like Wall-E and Lion King, too. Plus cult classics like Big Lebowski and Serenity, too. And even some sweet anime- they did Akira, the original, with subtitles and the awesome original scoring, and Princess Mononoke (although that was the dubbed version- so odd to hear Billybob Thorntons voice in an anime, lol!) They do concerts, too. I wish they did less electronic stuff and more rock, but the place is always packed so In guess theyre just dooing what the bulk of their customers want. Their security is really on the ball, too. I may not like getting frisked every time I come through the door, but it makes people take the security seriously. Ive been to a lot of shows there in the last few years, Ive never seen a single fight. Cant say that about any of the other bars in town, for sure! Most of them are jokes, with just a guy doing IDs and no one keeping people in line. The burgers are good- youve GOT to try their "Big Burger" if you like meat! Its piled with cheese, bacon, jalapenos, and stuff, and just drowning in barbecue and ranch. Its the messiest thing Ive eaten this side of a rack of ribs, but sooo good! They do Monday Night Football, too, on the movie theater screen! The service may be slow, as another poster here said, but I dont complain... When its slow, its always crazy busy too. I saw Wall-E there not long ago, waited about 45 minutes for two burgers and a basket of bacon cheese fries. Its a long wait, sure... But I dont think its an issue, the theater was literally standing room only. Where else can you go but McDonalds that serves 200+ people in an hour and a half? Theres no where else in Humboldt where the staff can get decent quality food to that many people that fast. And Ive peeked in the kitchen window- its only THREE PEOPLE to do all the cooking, in a tiny kitchen! Those guys are amazing. If youre in northern Humboldt and looking for something indoors to do, you could do a LOT worse than hit up Arcata Theater Lounge.

Its a casual dinner theater type place. Theyve got live music shows, repeats of classic movies, and my favorite: Sci-Fi pint and pizza nights where they show terrible movies, weird russian cartoon clips, old public safety videos, and local independent films. Admission and raffle tickets are free with $5 food and drink purchase (they have a full bar) and they raffle off crazy items like a VHS tape of the 1998 Lost in space, a reference encyclopedia of geological terms, a glow in the dark plastic dinosaur, free tickets to upcoming events, a star trek novel, or a fake mustache made from real human hair (Note that all these are real prizes Ive won while attending their events). Its a lot of fun and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys bad movies or good food and drinks.

Their service is a bit slow, and their bar is solid, even without my favorite cocktails, but their pizza is amazing, the atmosphere is amazing, the decor is amazing, and I always love their sci fi and horror movie choices. I could do with fewer music shows though.

One of my favorite places to go in this town. Good food, great booze selection, and the shows are always so much fun. I highly recommend sifi nights and the improv shows. Check their calendars and youll find someone each month to go see.

I love going here to watch some older movies. Its fun to be able to see the movies I watched as a kid on the big screen again. Their fries are amazing, their burgers are a little strange. (Lots of lemon?)

Ive seen some pretty huge entertainers here. They tend to attract pretty famous entertainers on their way to larger venues. They also serve food which is clutch when drinking.

Fun & very affordable. The pizza definitely left a lot to be desired, although the price was right. Brownies were pretty bomb though. :-D
