The building outside says Cinemike 14 outside, "now a part of AMC" it looks old and worn outside, but the inside was okay. The bathrooms (womens) was clean and well lit. The front door was sticky, weird. There are tables/chairs inside so you can wait for the rest of your party, indoors. Staff at counter was helpful and friendly. Staff were neatly dressed and helpful and visually available. Signed up for AMC, free member something - we came from a place that was predominantly Regal Cinemas and all of their theatres are BIG, BRIGHT, CLEAN, EXPENSIVE - so we didnt expect much, especially since there was a police/sheriff car parked on the front/side of the theatre parking lot and since it was our first time there, I had some concern. The officer was standing by the ticket person inside - i didnt want to ask why - may be past problems? Mostly young adults and teens on a Saturday night. Normally I would have given the "place" may be 3 stars but I liked the friendly staff and Im hoping that since its now under AMC they will spend some money to clean it up a bit - although I have seen much, much worse - the carpets looked good, really, the interior looked like any other movie place - I think they need to quickly update the front signage and put some paint on it and have a big ole open house - so they get more business, if they want it. But what do I know, Im new here.

Last time we went it cost a fortune and parking was horrible. We will likely never go out to see a movie again at these prices. The matinee is only $1 cheaper than the full price. In Michigan where I moved from, I could go to the movies every day for about $4 by myself. The matinees were between $3 and $5. This is ridiculous. And they want to stop movie piracy...well then lower the prices and make it affordable to go out. I cant imagine being a teenager and taking a girl on a date these days. Heck...I make good money and its not even feasible to take my wife out for dinner and a movie. Forgot to add that popcorn and drinks are more than ridiculous, its highway robbery. The seating is fine, but the lights in the floor were never dimmed and it was distracting when the movie was darker. I noticed that it was not as sharp as I thought it should be. It was more like trying to watch a movie on one of the old projection type big screen televisions. It was a tad blurry. Good thing my wife forgot her glasses. I didnt want to tell her it was the actual movie that was mostly blurry.

Every time I have the misfortune of talking myself into going to this theater again It is the same experience. The screens are tiny and outdated. The projector bulbs need to be replaced in at least 2 theaters 11 and 9 (flickering picture the entire time). The overall technology is outdated, the sound system is awful as well. Why would you have 12+ speakers and only hear sound from the front 1-2. Horrible calibration. I mentioned several of these problems to the management and they couldnt care less. I would gladly drive to Knoxville or Bristol to not have to put up with this place. Tinseltown has been around for just as long if not longer and they continually update their equipment and have better/larger screens. Lastly, the ticket prices have gone up another 25 cents for some reason. So not only is this place the most expensive theater around, it is also the worst. Regular evening price is 10 dollars now. At Tinseltown in Bristol a ticket for a 3D movie is the same price. TL:DR Someone rent a bulldozer and fix this place.

In my honest opinion.. people who complain about the quality of a theater are childish and disrespectful. if you filthy rotten rich and picky.. youll leave more seats open for us people who aint spoilt rotten. some of us are happy and blessed to have a theater to come to. although I would to see more family movies. because when time is over.. family friends and Jesus is the only happiness we will ever remember. Jesus is family and friendship.. but also a stance for something more that quality or appeal. Its about a memory that encourage you in the rough times. Thats what I get at this theater. Going to go watch Star Wars.. and I hope the devil gets whipped!!

DONT EAT THE POPCORN. The staff does horrible things to the popcorn because they think its funny to watch people eat it in the lobby. A friend who used to work there told me. They turn off the Air Conditioning in the theaters so that you will buy soda. Went to see Hunger Games, there was a bright yellow tint to the screen for half the movie, the management did not care. Finally enough people complained and they TURNED OFF THE MOVIE COMPLETELY. Took them 19 minutes to fix (I kept track on my watch) and then they just kept the movie going - so everyone missed 19 minutes of movie. NO REFUNDS!

I have been coming here since I was little. Now that there is a nicer theater within close proximity I will be going there. Its cheaper, has free refrills, and is actually clean. This theater, the main bathroom has never once been clean that I have been here, several of the screens have visible stains on them, and several movies Ive been to the projector has messed up. This is also the most expensive movie theater I have been too. Maybe if the prices were cheaper it wouldnt bother me, but for now I will only come here if the other theater is sold out or something.

Decent if you dont feel like driving from Johnson City all the way to Bristol to see a movie in a really good theater like Tinsletown or Pinnacle 12 or Abingdon Cinemall. The fact that its only a 5 minute drive from my apartment is the only reason I ever go to it, though. Higher ticket prices than the better theaters, much worse other patrons (seriously JC audiences are TERRIBLE) and more pre-movie, pre-trailer ads (including ones for the theater youre already sitting in...yeah.)...basically I wish the Pinnacle had moved into JC and run Carmike out of business.

Its not exactly clean .. over priced Staff isnt very friendly (most of the time stand around in groups yapping not cleaning ) people are taking vids of the movies and messing around through it.. no staff in site. If I had a choice other than carmike here, Id go there .. We go to the drive in all summer until its close for a reason. I wish Johnson city would learn to take care of their theater like the one in Jackson. They need to close on Sunday CLEAN the whole place. Lower their prices .. maybe then, youd have 5* ratings

I went to Carkmike the other day to watch Age of Ultron expecting to be blown away, instead I was deeply disappointed by their lack of quality. When I pay $10 for a movie I expect the experience to be great. Instead I was treated to a taped up screen, a sound system that constantly cut out and was too low to hear, cold popcorn, and the smell of sweat in the seat. I asked for a refund from management only to have them laugh in my face saying there was no way I could get my money back. Dont waste your time here.
