First off, when I see the name "Troon" affiliated with a course I expect it to be an unforgettable course with great challenges and supreme course conditions. Well it was an unforgettable course in the worst possible ways.... when looking online the pictures of the course looked amazing, lush fairways, smooth bunkers extra. Upon playing the first 2-3 holes I realized that this course is a dog track, bunkers were as hard as rock and desert, fairways were more brown then green and the greens were unbelievably slow. Before I even teed off I was told by a cart guy that I cant hit my driver on the range???? So much of a range. Did I also mention the course rates were $90, a bit over priced for what you get out of the course and the conditions. To sum it all up I was greatly disappointed with the whole experience, I would not recommend this to anyone unless you see a drastic price drop or you see the course conditions improve by a long shot

Played on 10/4/11. The course and practice facility gets a 4.5 rating from me. The clubhouse gets a 4. If you wanted to just go play golf and enjoy the scenery. This is a very good course for the area. The clubhouse doesnt have a high end grill for you like some of the other high end clubs to unwind after the round. Course condition was excellent. The back nine is incredible. I love 16, 17, and 18. What a way to finish. Fairway is wide open but you cant cheat by rolling on the green from the fairway. Most of the Greens require you to be accurate. For $35 we got unlimited golf + lunch from their grill. Had a great time and would definitely come back. For the money, you get a very high end course and Troons courses are always nice. Cant beat that. If you want to pay a little more, head over to Raven Verrado. But you cant beat the price here.

Up in the Estrella mountain, not a bad drive from Phoenix. Look for specials, we got the unlimited golf, dozen ProV1 and lunch for a great price. Played 36 holes, finished right at sunset and experienced the course in different light, just an added bonus. Course offer challenges to all levels, but tried to play from the tip at #17 (just because someone told us it was worth it) and that was impressive. Overall, the course is challenging, you need to play strategically. Greens and fairways were impeccable. Great pace of play and the staff really wants you to have fun and will advise where to play from to make your round enjoyable. Pin placements on scorecards really help. Highly recommend playing a round (or two) here.

Went here expecting a luxurious golf experience, because this is a troon golf course and the rates were $90 per person. But, they managed to hugely disappoint everyone in our group. During our time here, you wouldve been better off hitting out of the desert than the bunkers, because they were rock hard. You could barely even rake them. All of the holes were very boring besides the last two. We couldnt even hit drivers at the range because of some photoshoot that was going on down there. Overall, I was hugely disappointed in this course and would not recommend it to anyone unless they start charging less or actually taking care of the course.

Im visiting Phoenix from Canada and the best value for golf is Estrella. For $109 you get unlimited golf plus lunch and a box of 12 ProV1s. The greens and fairways were in amazing shape, the rounds took about 4 hours, and the views are incredible in an absolutely beautiful mountain desert. The golf is challenging and fun for any level golfer. (Im a single digit cap and theres no way Im good enough to play the tips here). Its well worth the drive from Phoenix to play this course for a day. The only down-side is the grill closes early, but still a 5 star experience for everything else.

I LOVE this golf course. The staff here is great, the restaurant is amazing, the practice facility is one of the best in the West, and the layout is unforgettable. You cant hit driver on every hole, and no 2 holes are the same. Ive played here several times, and every time I am here I cant wait to get back. Also, if you are active on social media, they post a lot of great content, including photos of the golf course. Good stuff at the Golf Club of Estrella.

Course was great. Patio grill was great. Course rangers were awful. They need to be more golfer friendly. We got chewed out because we got to the first tee two minutes late. We were only two minutes late because there was no one around to tell us where the first tee was. Course welcome staff is severely lacking. Course ranger needs to work on his attitude.

Great value right now, cant beat $20 bucks for 18 holes, cart and range balls. Julie took really good care of us in the Players Grill, second week in a row. Ive just found a new home, hopefully theyll put up with me

Great place to live. Schools are good and parks are clean and green. I love going for walks around the lakes and hiking all the trails. Best place in the phoenix metro area to live. Very peaceful.

Nice golf course . I would come back to play this one. Nice variety of holes . The only negative about this course are their greens. The ball did not roll as nice for a course of this stature.
