This is a beautiful Canyon course, no question. But its not an enjoyable experience. For me, drawbacks are: 1) Excessive uphill, downhill, sidehill lies. Yes its a Canyon course, but it gets cartoonish, especially some if the added berms. 2) the bunkers are concrete. You cant even leave footprints in them theyre so hard. Upside if this is theres no need to rake, but by far the worst bunkers Ive ever seen. 3) fairways are in poor condition, seem to have drainage issues on several holes which seems odd for a Canyon course. 4) greens are broccoli with multiole grass types and very poor roll.slow too 5) very restrictive access for carts, with several holes "path only." Miserable, especially with no yardage markers and all the uphill/downhill shots, you have to haul half your bag to your ball to be prepared for the shot you may play. And of course youre in that position of "I have the wrong club in my hands but I dont want to trek back to the cart" all day long. 6) quiet a few ridiculously shaped holes... Severe (like acute angle severe) doglegs with no signage to indicate the shape of the hole. 7) fairways are super narrow, which is fine, but without well thought out design features to encourage strategic shot making. Jut kind of squeezed in where they fit. 8) aforementioned attitude of the staff... Folks this is a mini, and a gimmicky one at that. Get over yourselves. Views if the valley are fantastic and its kind of fun snaking around the cart paths, but its a pretty cheesy, poorly designed track posing as the real deal.

I played this course a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it. I almost didnt play because there are a few negative reviews but after playing it I just dont see what the complaints are all about. Was every blade of grass groomed like Augusta National? No, but this is a public, desert, mountain course thats reasonably priced. It was challenging and I couldnt just swing away but I absolutely loved it. There are some blind shots that required local knowledge but in those cases I just drove the cart up a little ways, looked at the situation, and adjusted accordingly. Now, next time Ill know. Ill play this for sure next time Im in Salt Lake. The views are amazing and the course is blast to play if you understand that its going to test your skill, and its a public course.

Pros: * Great view of the Salt Lake Valley Cons: $10 + compared to other courses in south SLC * fairways and greens arent in great shape for the rate compared to old mill for example * I dont expect flat lies on a mtn course but you can plan on lots of up/down/side laying shots even when you stick your shots * management seems unaware that this a a public course, not a country club, attitudes & perspectives dont seem to be congruent

This is one of the best tests in the region. True, we would all like to see fairways and greens in better shape, but this is still a beautiful course, maybe one of the best courses in the state. A few reviews suggest poor design. I completely disagree. This is a true test. A scratch golfer with a little local knowledge can tame this course. All others bring extra balls!

This is the prettiest course in the valley with spectacular views. The course is very challenging so if youre not a pretty good golfer make sure you come prepared with a lot of balls. Lol. Came on a Sunday afternoon and it wasnt busy so we got right on. Course is well maintained and prices reasonable.

Hard course, always on a hill. After you play south mountain every other course seems easy. This course dries out pretty fast. After it rained for a week the course was amazing. Every time I go in to pay with a group of four it takes us 10 mins to pay, their machines take forever.

Not a very fun layout. I called for a tee time, the guy scheduled me no problem. The only reason I called here is because two other courses told me they were aerating their greens. I show up here and they had just aerated their greens. I wont be going back anytime soon.

Expect a high-scoring semi-miserable round if the wind is blowing and it can blow hard.. Layout is somewhat weird and the sand is horrible. I have to give it some stars for great views of the valley and cool wildlife spotting opportunities.

South Mountain is a fun challenge. Not in the best shape when I played here last. Seems they may have a water issue as there was plenty of dead grass spots. I do enjoy the layout here, but its not a course to walk.

Save your money for somewhere else this coarse is literally on the side of a mountain. ALWAYS WINDY!! WINDIEST COURSE IVE EVER PLAYED... Blows your ball when its sitting on the green. Ill never play here again..

Super fun course with great views. However watch out for wind - I did go on a cloudy and windy day, so my experience was pretty rough. But imagining the course on a different day it would be great.

Fun course I like the layout the fact that you cant hit into another hole from the hole youre playing is great. Could use a little bit more upkeep and the sand traps are terrible but tough

By far the most lovely location for a wedding reception Ive ever been to in Utah. The staff was very kind and helpful, the food was beautiful and delicious. The views were stunning.

Terrible tee boxes, greens had been aerated with no discount offered, fairways are very iffy meaning dried patches with dirt, Id recommend spending your money somewhere else

Tough course. Almost all the greens are multiple tiers and the fairways are tight. Really beautiful views. Very reasonably priced. Cant wait to play again. 4.5 stars

Very challenging. Lots of fairways with moguls, and some are very tight, Great views and if not windy, some of the most perfect golf to be had.

Great course with awesome views! Docked one star because sometimes you are penalized with a bad lie from a good shot. Sloped and hilly

Superfine and challenging Course. Went really early and was a little flooded and greens squishy but an awesome experience.

Beautiful, but tough course on the side of the mountain. Small undulating fairways. Only $24 for 9 holes in 2016.
