My few experiences at the store have varied. I bought my long gun and mini safes on sale here and the sales man was great. The key pad had broken before I received it and they covered the cost of shipping the same one from another location. I went in to buy a set of Artist boots on sale but they didnt have my size. They basically said Im SOL. They had the same boot, in my size, days after the sale ended but would not honor the sale price. I just went in today to buy 4x6 Stall Mats. Their pricing ($43/mat) was the highest within a 50+ mile radius and online (including shipping). The manager refused to price match a local competitor ($37/mat) because, in their system, it says they were produced by a different company. Like every other product, they are made in the same facility and branded by whomever buys it by the pallet load making it impossible to price match. They would only sell for $37 if I bought 20+ mats. I just drove 35 minutes to the competitor to buy the 12 mats that I needed.
I was very disappointed with the chicken I received from Wilco. When I picked out my chicks the sign stated 90% sex accuracy turns out its more like 60 40 as I choose 3 different breed and out of 7 chicks,I now have 4 roosters and 3 hens and when I said something in the store regarding the sign the person just shrugged and laughed at me.So Im suggesting that the sign is incorrect and it doesnt seem they have the chicks sex check, that they should put a new sign up.I am not the only person that ended up whith more rooster then hens my neighbor bought 5 chicks and like me now has a yard full of fighting roosters, she got 4 roosters out 5 chicks.UPDATE: I would like to give the Wilco manager (Katie) a huge shout out, for straightening things out for me and explaining things, she was such a doll and very polite and understanding and offer to help me relocate some of the roosters I look forword to doing more business with them. Thanks again Katie you are a huge help.
This store is so much fun! They have a pet groomer in the back of the store that does a really nice job on nails. They have a country clothing section with better than expected prices. Horse needs, dog needs, odd and end house needs (electrical/plumbing/building), planting needs and my toddlers favorite part chickens! They sell chickens in a lot of varieties as well as ducks and turkey, they sell quick though. We walk here often to just say hi to the chickens and the staff is always nice (even though we are terrible and dont buy something each time :/ )
Purchased 10 chicks this spring from them and was sold the wrong breed and both were roosters. I was looking for 2 Marans and was given 2 Bantam roos. Im now stuck with two of the wrong breed and wrong gender all together. Its just frustrating because a Maran roo would have been okay... If they could keep one type per pen I think that would help keep things straight. On the bright side, the lady who helped us was wonderful and kind. And the other 8 chicks look to be all the right breed and females.
Having grown up in Gig Harbor when Wilco was Strohs, so glad they kept the original arched barn; still remember being allowed to buy a coke (in a glass bottle) from the vending machine by its entrance. Today, the spirit of the Stroh legacy lives with familiar family faces working the isles and welcoming the customers. While they dont carry live chicks anymore, their commitment to the community in supplying quality service and materials for Gig Harbor continues; a cornerstone to Our Story.
LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Have spend decades shopping at Dells/Tractor Supply.... WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A DELLS TSC EVER NOW THAT WILCO IS IN TOWN! Their manager is AMAZING, better selection, better prices, better lay out, more knowledgeable staff all in all they are by FAR the better farm supply store in Western Washington! So glad I will NEVER have to give Dells another dollar! THANK YOU WILCO! STAY AWESOME!
I think Im in the store 3-4 times a week. The prices are great, the people are friendly, and the departments are well stocked from pets to barnyard. The only thing I wish you carried was chopped straw for the poultry department. Standlee Hay Company is a brand you already carry and the chopped straw is safer for chickens.
I love Wilco and the customer service is really the best around! I have purchased my chicks every Spring from Wilco for the past five years and half the fun is discovering what I get. If I get more roosters than I need, I just call Bill at Happy Rooster Farm in Lakebay, Wa. :) Blessings!
Its a fairly expensive place to shop, but as they have items that other local shops do not have ( equestrian, and farm related equipment and materials ) I do visit there occasionally. Its staff have always been helpful. Its restrooms are clean. There is plentiful parking.
Thanks for your response. Much appreciated. Dont like to bash on good businesses, especially ones who do care. Employees, come in good or not so good. You just have to sort them out. Every business does. See you soon .. and Happy Holidays :)
I love this store for horse, cat and dog supplies, tack, garden supplies and hardware, everything. Even clothes. Every time I walk in I walk out with more stuff than I went there for.
Ciera is our favorite lady to ask chicken questions. She is so helpful and considerate. We travel all the way from Kirkland to ship here.
Great hardware and farm supply store. Best fastener and fencing selection in area. Prices fair to good.
Great feed store and hardware store. A big variety - lots to offer.
Great pricing knowledgeable and friendly service.
Great store to go horse and chicken feed.
Ok place, not as cheap as Tractor supply.
