Not bad but not great either. I have been going to this theater for years and nothing has changed. The good thing about this theater is its location. Located inside Ballston Commons Mall, movie goers have access to shops, such as Macys, FYI & Victorias Secret, and restaurants, such as McDonalds, IHOP, Cosí, and more. There is also local businesses in the area adjacent to the mall, such as a dentist office and the National Science Foundation. For mass transit users the metro is right outside the mall. Ballston Metro station is on the orange line and its busses service range from Rosslyn to the Golden Triangle in downtown Washington with some busses traveling through Georgetown. The bad thing about this theater is its lackluster appearance. It is about due for a round of renovations. Other than that, the theater seats are standard - which means stadium seating - viewing angle and screen are pretty standard as well.

Great facility, broad options of shows - but woefully understaffed. Yes, this is the comfy theater, with fully reclining seats and lots of leg room in front of you! Seats can be reserved ahead of time, and theres a self-serve kiosk in the lobby. Hope that you can use them, but because there just arent enough people there. Today one noble clerk was both selling tickets and admitting people to the complex, which means that near showtime neither job was getting done very well. Concession stand needed more people, too. But if you can work around the shortage of employees, and dont get freaked out by the ghost-mall atmosphere in Ballston, its like Singin in the Rain.

Does anyone even work here? I came here last night for an 8pm movie and no one was there to take our tickets that we printed online. The seats where insanely uncomfortable and the screen/sound was just average. There are so many better theaters to go in the DC area which makes this one pointless to go to. However.....the parking was really cheap. Cost me only a dollar to be there for 3 hours and if no one was there to take your ticket, you could really just go in for free. The mall also has a decent food court and we could easily sneak food into the theater. On second thought, I should give this a 4 star review.

I saw Robin Hood last night. At first the focus quality was ok, not like my High Def experiences. Then it was obvious that they were "refocusing" and then it went from ok to bad, I mean you could tell a person was on the screen, but if you wanted to see the details of their expression, you were out of luck. I called them and they sent someone, no results. They sent someone to the theater, I met them, it was like they were blind. The projectionist said it looked fine from where he was. He needs his vision checked. Im glad I didnt pay 11 bucks for a movie and 13 for drinks and popcorn

This theater is outdated in the commons area but the cinemas themselves have reclining seating and plenty of space. The staff leaves a lot to be desired. Our movie started with the lights still on, the cashier at the snack counter was very unprofessional, and the snack bar downstairs has never been staffed or used in my experience. I will keep going for the seating and convenience as I am a block away, but if youre driving or taking transit to a theater, Id recommend picking a different one.

The new recliner theater is poorly designed, with many seats jammed immediately (like 5 feet!) under the screen so its impossible to see the movie. I know front seats are typically bad, but these really are unacceptable. Projection equipment is also outdated, with poor color matching. I guess its kind of a nostalgic experience (a little like traveling back to the 80s), but its hard to stay positive when youre paying $40 for a couple of tickets.

Rather unusual location on top floor of Ballston Common Mall with theatres to left and right on multiple levels. Unusual, but I always enjoy my visit. Bathrooms and Concession have been clean and orderly. One problem is the pay parking. For longer movies, you can end up with a higher parking fee. Dont arrive too early or stay to read credits or it could cost you at Ballston. Had this unpleasant experience twice and learned my lesson.

Worst movie going experience of my life. Took 15 minutes to buy a ticket in a line of four people. Supposedly sold out of the showtime, which seems impossible since the place was dead. The lady working was so unfriendly it literally made me angry. One person working concessions. Dark and dirty atmosphere. Ticket was not worth $13.00. I am writing this review before I have even gotten to my seat, that is how disappointed I am.

Ballston Mall itself is fairly creepy, because most of it is shut down (I think just the movie theater and Macys are open during the construction). ..However, the theaters location cant be beat- its right in downtown Ballston area and is easily walkable. It is nearly always empty (no competition for tickets), and I love the big comfy reclining chairs. Drinks and food is overpriced (as always), but theater is clean and quiet.

The theatre is pretty nice overall. The parking is easy and reasonable. The recliner chairs were very comfortable. It was a busy Saturday afternoon and they were not staffed properly at all. We waited 30 minutes to get a popcorn and a cone. Luckily we got there early since it was new to us and we had the time. The concession area was a bit dirty and looked older but our popcorn and drink were as expected.

Great place to watch a late night horror movie as the elevator and parking garage are scary. Theater number 3 has had the same broken seats D3&4 for at least a year. Number 4 still mostly works, but 3 requires bending the foot rest up manually. Make sure you check your chairs before the movie. Theres a reason there are plenty of seats for new movies.

The theater was amazing, and the concessions were great. But the black cashier with the dreads was probably the worst employee Ive ever seen at Ballston. Seemed to be annoyed the entire time, and looked like he needed to finish his texting before tending to customers. Find new employees. Especially at the parking services as well.

Wondering why this owner doesnt want to show Wonder Woman?? Plenty of Captain Underpants, though! And the self checkout booth sucks! I sat there for like 10 min to get through all the stupid questions and finally when it was done, it said it couldnt print out my tickets so I had to go to the counter and wait another 5 minutes.

This is a typical movie theater that is a little run down and old school. I like coming here because its near my home and there are always seats. There is never too long of a line to buy tickets and this place is the best theater for a last minute cinema outing. The theater needs a little bit of remodeling but its not bad.

The one and only benefit of this theatre is that it is close to me. This theatre smells like a bathroom.. EVERY TIME I GO THERE. Once they even showed a different film to the audience then what they paid for... This theatre really needs to be completely redone (or else just demolish the entire Ballston Mall)
