This review is an edit of my previous 5 star review of Sundance Cinema. What happened to this theater? I used to see 3-4 movies a month when this place was Sundance. Ive given it a couple of chances as an AMC, but this isnt a pleasurable viewing experience anymore. Tickets are still amenity level prices, but now the customer is inundated with a 1/2 hour of ads ( Army recruitment, Suave Shampoo for men (X5) and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese) and 15 minutes of trailers that are geared towards a teenage market, and not towards the tastes of a discerning movie goer. I feel sorry for the folks who run and work at this venue, because I suspect that they have little influence in the degradation of what once was a fine theater. AMC needed to do some serious market research when they retained this theater and sold the IMAX theater because they dont have a clue what drew customers to Sundance since it opened. The change appears to already have impacted business. There are no late movies any more. If you attend a 7:30PM movie on Saturday night theres a good chance that youll walk out of your theater to a dark, shut down, empty lobby at 10:PM. You can experience in one visit that this isnt working, and that Sundances loyal movie loving customers are going elsewhere. I wanted to support these folks after this sad takeover, but I cant. I just cant. You dont know how much youre going to miss something until its gone.

Sundance has been bought by AMC and theyve ruined it. I was willing to give it a try but after having to deal with AMC customer service Im never going back - not to this AMC or any other. Ive had to deal with their customer service department far too many times in the past few weeks trying to switch my former Sundance rewards membership over to AMC Stubbs. The original link they sent didnt work, had to register a different way. Then, once registered, the free ticket they promised former Sundance members didnt show up in the account. Called again and was told there was no free ticket (despite them sending out an email promoting it). Transferred to a supervisor who offered me a $5 credit in place of a free ticket. After I held out she finally relented and offered to send me a limited ticket which would still cost me money to use for certain movies (not the $17 value ticket promised). Asked to have a higher up supervisor call me back and was told they likely wouldnt. Finally got an email from a manager thanking me for my input on their pricing structure (dont even know where that came from, I never discussed prices) from a no-reply email address. The low-key Sundance vibe has been replaced with in-your-face advertising throughout the whole lobby space; the fabulous Sundance drink & food menu has been replaced; and you have to pay $15 for their premiere membership to avoid online ticket purchase fees.

My friend and I decided to see a movie here, and it was a nightmare. We suspect it was because we are black, because of the way they acted as if we were not native English speakers, which we are. The attendant actually had the gall to spell out the movie we said we wanted to see! When asked why he did this, he claimed he wanted to be sure that that was the movie we wanted to see, so we would not have to complain and return out tickets. When we told him that was absurd, he said he has with an emphasis I have LOTS of real world experience with dealing with people. When pushed for clarification, he said that certain types of people like to complain and whine more! We asked for the manager, and he claimed he was it for the shift. We demanded out money back, and we will NEVER return to this place. It is clearly racist, and Robert Redford NEEDS to come in and clarify its mission. We are going to take this as far up the line as we can, even if it means going to Redford himself. - Mike and Bill.

Went for the first time today and we loved it! It was somewhat expensive (I really dont understand what the service fee is on top of the ticket price-the clerk didnt really have a good answer) but overall it was great. I LOVE that we can see independent films locally and not just hear about them from people in bigger cities and/or rent them when they come out on DVD. I prefer the big screen experience but because of the additional cost, I would choose to see only the movies that arent (and wont eventually be) available elsewhere. The seats were comfortable, staff was friendly (although none seemed to be in a big hurry) and overall ambience was good. I actually liked that we had to pick our seats before going in. It gave us a good idea of how full the theatre was and also allowed us to mingle outside for a while instead of having to rush in 20 minutes early just to claim a seat. Well be back, for sure!

I dont even know where to start. I dont think the problem has to do with your skin color, but rather a general lack of care. I ordered my drinks and food from one of the two bartenders. He seemed like a nice guy but talked so quietly, I could barely understand. After ordering our food, the server brought everything except one cup of soup for my friend. I asked her right away to bring it out yet halfway through our meal it hadnt come. To make a long story short, I had to ask 4 different times for a simple cup of soup, twice after our meal was finished and requiring me to get up from my seat. Each time I was met with rude and dismissing remarks and the final being, "Its not coming out man." I wasnt offered a refund or free food or drink; instead I had to ask for it. The food was ok, nothing special. The service was the worst I have ever seen.

The movie was good and worth seeing. HOWEVER, I bought my tickets for my sister and I to spend some time together on line. When we got there, there were 3 or 4 other twosomes that had the same seats that we did. Each time we moved to empty spots, someone came and kicked us out. The cinema staff person inside the theater said the only thing we could do is go back to the box office. The movie was just starting and there was no way I was going out to the box office. I sat in the 3rd row from the front (looking up) and my sister was about 4 rows up in an empty seat. If your online - pick your seat - system isnt working, take it down until you can figure it out; this type of issue should not be happening. I will be calling the manager this evening for some type of satisfaction process.

My husband and I found that the volume was set too low for the movie we saw (Crazy Heart), and we kept missing dialogue. We also would have enjoyed the movies music more if it had been turned up a notch. The theater attendants should be on top of this -- its too disruptive to get up (we were sitting in the middle of our row) and go find someone to complain to. I also noticed that the womens restroom was a mess. At first the paper towel dispensers were empty, then someone complained and towels were brought in and set near the sinks. The towels were quickly scattered all over the place -- the sinks, the floor... very wasteful! Also, several toilet stalls had no toilet paper. Its a nice theater (although over-priced), but someone needs to pay better attention to detail!
