If it were possible to leave negative stars, I would. We booked a block of rooms at the Metropolis for our wedding next door at The Florian Gardens and our experience with the Metropolis was a nightmare from the beginning. When we initially called to reserve a block of rooms, I called twice and left messages for Lauren, the "wedding coordinator" and did not hear back for three days. I then had my husband call, and he was finally able to set up the reservation. He asked that the contract be emailed to me. After two MORE days, I still had not received the contract so I had to call AGAIN to ask that it be sent to me. Long story short, it took four phone calls just to set up our block. This should have been fair warning. A couple months later, my husband and I were trying to plan out our three-night stay at the Metropolis and decided to go online and see the hours of the waterpark, included with our stay. To our surprise, we see that the waterpark is CLOSED for the entire month of September for construction. This was never communicated to us while booking our block of rooms. In fact, we specifically discussed the waterpark while booking, because we wanted to be sure there wasnt an extra charge for our guests for using it. When we called the Metropolis to discuss this, the front-desk person was unable to find our reservation. Since quite a few parties had already (supposedly?) reserved their rooms, this was very concerning. After three more phone calls including several transfers to various different people and managers, we came to find out that WE (the bride and groom!!!) did not have a room reserved, even though we were the ones who called to make the reservation and specifically requested a room for us for Wednesday - Friday nights. We finally got a hold of Lauren who said she would see what she could do as far as compensating us for the waterpark (the main selling point of the hotel!) being unavailable. She initially said she would give us free admission to Action City OR $10 off our rooms, to which I replied that we should really have both of those things since we had already had such a terrible experience, and we were still months away from the wedding! Finally, she agreed to $10 off everyones rooms for each night, plus free admission to Action City. She also compd our room for Friday night, which was much appreciated. This past weekend was the wedding and once again, terrible/confusing customer service from The Metropolis. First of all, when you walk in the door, the girls at the front desk stare at you like you just walked into the wrong place, instead of greeting, asking how they can help, etc. Almost ALL of our guests mentioned the unfriendly stares they received upon walking in to The Metropolis. Upon checking in, we were given free passes to the trampoline park, NOT Action City. We had about seven parties check in who were given the wrong passes, so we had to go up to the unfriendly front-desk people each time to make sure our guests got the correct passes. The passes themselves were very confusing. We assumed that we would get free admission to Action City our entire stay, since that is typically what is included with the waterpark but again, the waterpark is closed. We were given 3 hour passes, one-day passes, trampoline passes; basically everything EXCEPT free admission to Action City. It was a confusing mess, not to mention that Action City is only open until 9pm which was very inconvenient. The unfriendly service continues while checking in at Action City once we finally got the correct passes. The girl working was also clearly confused by the multiple kinds of passes, and basically seemed as though she had no idea what she was doing. Once you get into Action City, your "free" admission goes out the window since only a few games are actually free; the rest you have to pay for. The ONLY good experience we had here was at the inside go-kart track. The kid working was friendly and helpful. If you are considering The Metropolis because of it’s location, NOT WORTH IT! This place is the absolute worst.

TLDR I paid $180 for one night, I felt like I didnt get my moneys worth. I broke my toe on their water slide and the hotel wasnt accommodating at all or helpful. My boyfriend graduated last weekend so I figured as a treat Id take him here so we could spend the day before graduation at the water park. Upon arrival the front desk seemed nice, and directed us towards our room. Our room was nice, but looked like it wasnt well maintained; there was a stain on the carpet near the couch and one of the light bulbs was burnt out. Our view was the dumpsters outside the kitchen (a suggestion for the resort: put up an awning). Shortly after we arrived we headed to the pool. We had fun, but it was definitely more geared for kids or families with kids. There are 3 slides: the 1st one was the biggest -the entire ride is in the dark and there are a lot of turns, the second is a standard curvy water slide - this one is only appropriate for kids or small teens (were 22 year olds who weigh about 150lbs and we had to push ourselves down because we got stuck in some spots), the last one is an extremely steep drop - we didnt ride this one. We had fun, but we where ready to leave after 2 hours. On our last ride down the first slide I fell out of the tube (it was over inflated) and I broke my toe. The water park desk staff offered me a bandaid or burn cream (they were joking around because they had no idea what to do). My boyfriend walked me back to the room, we changed then went to the ER (it was 10pm). On our way out we told the front desk what happened, and they only offered sympathy. I was very disappointed with the service, especially since I paid a decent amount for the room. I also work in a hotel, so if I was in their shoes, I would have offered a shuttle to the hospital or at least a wheelchair to use while I was there especially since I broke it at THEIR hotel. EDIT: We sent a complaint to the hotel, basically stating what I said above. They did not follow up with me at all. I work in a hotel with similar (slightly higher) status and when one of our guest is dissatisfied with their stay we follow up and see what we could have done better. I felt as if theyre ignoring their problems and their unhappy guest. Because of this Im removing one star on my review.

My wife and I just spent a night at the Metropolis Resort and had a wonderful time. The main hotel building has a very nice lobby with a pretty seating area and some snacks/drinks and souvenirs available for purchase. There is a small pub located just past the lobby which is open all day; we had breakfast there just before checking out and the food was very good for how cheap it was. All of the hotel was very clean, and there were a lot of security cameras in the public areas. We stayed in one of the "Whirlpool Fireplace Flats" which included a jacuzzi tub in the main room next to the bed, and a faux fireplace next to the tub. For a young married couple, this room lent to a very romantic and relaxing evening. The decor was very pleasing to look at and all the amenities I expected were present. The hotel itself is connected to both a waterpark (Chaos Waterpark) and a play area (Action City). We purchased a package deal that included admission to the waterpark for the duration of our stay, and one day of admission to Action City plus $10 for certain games. Action City offered many different activities including Go-Karts, Rock Climbing, Bumper Cars, Mini Bowling and an arcade. They also had outdoor mini-golf, and an outdoor maze which was not available because of the cold weather. There were several themed rooms used for childrens birthday parties. Chaos Waterpark had an area for kids, a lazy river, a hot tub, and 3 different waterslides. Visually the park is a mix of comic book-style themes, with aliens, dinosaurs, superheroes and wrecked cities all making an appearance. Overall, the resort is more tuned to kids or families with kids. With the connected waterpark and arcade, kids would have a lot of fun during a weekend stay. Part of me wishes that we had a young child so we couldve brought them with us. If you dont have children or want a more mature experience Metropolis may not be for you. Our room was a very nice way to spend the evening, but there will be kids around the building. However if you do have kids, need a place to have a birthday party, or are a big kid like me, the two connected attractions can make for a fun day or two.
