In a city where its more difficult than most, The Camel refuses to be just a bar. They dedicate an entire half of the building to an awesome music venue equipped with a stage and great sound and lights (not to mention the talented crew hired to run them for any act that desires). They allow free shows to up and coming bands and let established acts collect the door covers they deserve, making music of all styles and levels happen 7 nights a week. The food and chefs are legendary and the beer selection supports local breweries while rotating a wide variety of beers from all over the world and keeping a fun cheap selection for those who prefer it. Eat there, drink there, party there, start a band and play there! Richmond lives at The Camel.

The Camel! Perfect "dive" atmosphere! Staff likes working there. Treat us as frineds. Cool altenative blues, blues rock, bluegrass, acoustic, rock and roll, reggae, burlesque and more. Dont fence them in when it comes to the styles of music they bring in. They support local/ regional musicians. I really enjoy their food! Although not still on the menu, the shrimp and grits were awesome. The sausage stars are a great standby. Nice changing selection of beers and yummy bloodies on Sunday! Georgia, Kyle and team most always pleasant.

You like music? This is the place for you - Im not that big on live music but this is a great spot to grab a surprisingly awesome meal, good wine, and (my friends tell me) good beer. The Camel generously hosted and provided entertainment for a fundraiser I organized and the service, food and ambiance were wonderful. The parking isnt great but hey - this is the city. Full disclosure: The owner is an acquaintance, but I feel Im giving a fair review.

I was very displeased! I came out for an open mic/concert and the show was shut down as soon as I got in the staff was tentative; however, they did not let my friend in who had a Proper identification! Worse experience ever. O did I forget they let a whole bunch of under aged kids in and then kicked them out when they couldnt handle them !!!!!

I love the Camel for their sunday music brunches. Great beer selection. I think food ia very good for a music bar. Staff are super friendly but they are always short staffed so dont go super hungry. Your food might take awhile but Ive alwys been pleased. And i am really there for the music anyway.

I can only speak to the live music experience. I like to photograph live music and the Camel is one of my favorite places to shoot. The sound and lighting are always very enjoyable. The service is quick and attentive for how crowded it can get.

Found two amazing groups while visiting here. My friend and I went on a whim because we werent ready to go home, and had so much fun. Bar area for food, separate place for the band and to eat. Worth visiting if you get the chance.

The camel is a great place to see local musicians, they showcase local painters and artists, have a great beer selection and the food is on point. Highly recommended as it has always been one of my favorite spots in richmond.

Food is solid. Not spectacular, but solid. I would say its best offering is the live music at night and a varied and LOCAL beer selection, which is great. A little outside seating/place to smoke. Nice bartenders.

This place has good drink specials and really great live music. Food is ok, but it is a great place to go grab a drink and a show. There are cover fees sometimes and it can get very crowded if its a popular band.

Good spot for live music! Like most venues in Richmond, its a bit small and not built for music but it is non-smoking, has a wood floor and bar! Thats all I need for a fun night!

Food was really good. Surprised at how dead it was tho. Seems the people come for the band, which is warming up. Little dark, but a great dive. Great local beer selection.

The best small music venue in Richmond. Two rooms, one with a bar with a great on tap selection and the stage in the other.
