University Bowl is a great place to take the family and have fun. Arcade games, snack bar...oh, did I mention BOWLING? Despite the negative reviews here, I have been several times and never had a problem with the staff. There are two things to remember with any bowling center: 1) league nights, usually Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and Friday/Saturday evenings are busiest for open bowling, so get there early for best lane action and to guarantee that you will get a lane. 2) You will be treated in the same manner you treat others. Remember the old adage "Do unto others"? Well, thats true anywhere. If you treat the staff like crap, you will get crap service. Be patient, kind and understanding. If the parking lot is full, chances are that the bowling center is busy. Please take that into consideration. If you really are hoping to bowl, then I suggest going during a slow period, like during the daytime hours during the early part of the week. Another thing: the bowling center snack bar. They depend upon your hunger to make a buck. Many, if not all, bowling centers frown on outside food being brought in, so dont get upset if they make you take your Whataburger outside to eat. The snack bar is there for a reason. Yes, I know most bowling food is not gourmet, but cut them a break. Its not *that* bad. Bars in the bowling center. Yes, many bowlers like a beer or two during the game. Check with the center on prices. If you dont like the beer prices, dont buy them. No one is forcing you to drink beer. Have a soda or water instead. Smoking. Many centers do not allow smoking. UB is no exception. I am still hearing griping from the Bandera regulars about how they got kicked out. Oh well...it is up to the management to determine that, and many in the SA city limits do not allow it thanks to the new ordinance. If it bothers you...oh, well. Anyway, if you go during a league night, always remember that the league has priority...always. Leagues are treated as royalty because they have already paid to bowl. My reviews on UB and Bandera are not biased because I like to bowl. I also work with the high school bowlers and Special Olympics athletes.

First I would like to start off by saying I have no clue what people are talking about when It comes to bad service. I have never experienced bad service at university bowl by any of their employees. They have always provided 100% customer service to me, friends and family. I would have to say that a lot of people probably didnt get there way or probably need to check themselves. This is by far my favorite bowling center and I have bowled at all of them. They are current with the times and just up to date with everything. There lanes never mess up like many of the other bowling centers I have been too and they priced better then all centers. They also dont damage you bowling balls like other center who dont take care of their lanes properly. You can tell that management really takes care of their staff and there center and lanes. This place is just awesome. Not to mention that they have the best arcade then any other of the traditional blowing centers. Please dont mention bowlero or main event because those arent really bowling centers. I cant forget about Eric at the professional bowling shop either. That guy is a legit pro at what he does. I would also like to mention the employee that always gives outstanding customer service all the time. His name is Adrien. That guy is just awesome. Always professional and always delivers awesome customer service. Adrian always delivers great customer service every time I talk to him and he is great asset to the company. Dont take my word for it though. Go and experience great customer service and have a lot fun at Universty Bowl.

I wanted to go bowling tonight so I called University Bowl to ask them if I could make a reservation. I spoke with a woman who told me that they didnt take reservations the same night. I told her this was ok but asked about the wait since we would driving a fair distance. She told me not to worry about it as there was "almost no one there" with a wait under 15 minutes. We arrived shortly thereafter and asked to put our names on the waiting list. There were two men behind the counter. We were then told that there were 14 parties on the list in front of us and the wait would be 55 minutes to an hour. I told the manager that we had just spoke with a woman who told us there was no wait. He then claimed that no woman even worked there and they had the same long waiting list all night. He looked me in the eye and explained that I was mistaken and must have called the wrong place. Insulted and disgusted, we left. While in the parking lot out front, I confirmed that the number I called was indeed the correct number for this location. Less than one minute after speaking with with the manager, I called the same number and the man behind the counter answered. I asked him what the wait is and he told me it was "only 30 minutes." This was a downright lie. I called him out on this lie and I told him I was the one he had just spoke to at the counter. He hesitated, realized he was caught then lied again and claimed the wait was accurate. If you are thinking of bowling here, I urge you to look elsewhere.

The bowling was great. The arcade looks fun and enticing but we didnt use it. The bar was empty but it still took close to ten minutes for a drink. Even then the two bartender girls were in foul moods. They didnt help each other out. Instead, while one poured drinks for multiple people, the other was on her cell phone. We had gone to take advantage of the 2 dollar bowling night. We were informed that it started at 9 30. That was the only information given. At the end of the night we got a huge bill for bowling thinking we were bowling for 2 dollars after 9 30. Turns out that we had to start bowling after 9 30. Which the older man told us as he was charging us. I felt like that piece of information was crucial and shouldve been communicated to us when we asked him. Aside from that, the establishment was very clean and the lanes were up to date.

Rude. I have never been treated so rudely by a waitress ever. We were in a league and the waitresses come by all the lanes. These ones just skipped our table EVERY time. We basically had to stop them and ask for any order. And trying to get an itemized receipt out of these girls, HA, good luck with that. They overcharge for bowling and are not very helpful. The league we were in was for many many weeks, and the amount that the bowling alley took out was almost laughable. If you want to join a league I recommend going somewhere else. Though we were nice to all of them, at the end they were rude and didnt even clap when we were called up for awards (yet did for EVERY other team). Beyond disappointed in the maturity of this place and the people that bowl league there. I recommend trying a different bowling alley.
