Long story short.... we were kicked out of a theater for being "20 minutes late" (which is false) and treated very rudely by the manager. Long story long..... My husband and I were going to enjoy one of our first date nights since our daughter was born. I was really looking forward to sitting in a dark room for a couple of hours without a teething baby screaming at me. We bought tickets for our showing earlier in the day, but hit a bit more traffic than usual on the way to the theater and the parking was horrible. My husband is on crutches and there werent any close handicap parking spots available, so we had to park a ways away and walk in the crazy July heat. We arrived a few minutes after the show time (maybe 10?) but we did arrive before the movie actually started. In fact, we had enough time to get situated in our seats, read the menu, write down our orders and then sit to relax for a bit before the movie even started. About 5 minutes after we did, a man approached us and asked if we could talk outside for a bit. It actually made me a bit nervous because he was a bigger guy (well over 6 feet) and the only thing he had to identify himself as an employe was a head set. No uniform or name tag. He informed us that his server told him we were more than 20 minutes late and that hed have to ask us to leave but would give us a refund. I told him that we werent late and he replied "well, my server said you were". I get my husband and we head to the front to get our refund. When my husband asked why we were being kicked out and the reasoning behind this policy, he said "to reduce distractions and make a better viewing experience". Um. There were literally 4 other people in the theater, we walked in front of not one person as we were seated on the end closest to the entrance, and we arrived before the movie began. The manager made more of a scene by coming in after the movie began to ask us to leave. I was so surprised by the entire situation I hardly said anything besides looking at him with an "are you kidding me right now" look on my face. I cannot find any information about this "20 minute" policy on their website. If it really is their rule, we should have been stopped by the girl who printed our tickets and told us to enjoy the show. She should have offered a refund or another show time then and there. Im amazed that they would rather go to these lengths to remove someone who is quietly enjoying a movie (with our phones turned off, thank you) than to keep our money. I suspect a lazy server that didnt want to wait on 2 more people. A server who also missed out on a good tip. With so many competitors popping up near by (Studio Movie Grill, Movie Tavern, and now Willowbrook AMC that has been remodeled with leather recliners in place of traditional seats plus a full bar), I would think Alamo would be stepping up their customer service game a bit. Overall, it was a humiliating and disappointing experience. Needless to say, we will not be back.

I went to see Straight Outta Compton this past Sunday with my wife. The movie itself was excellent but the service we received at Alamo Drafthouse was terrible. We arrived and sat down like usual and ordered. Within a few minutes, the waiter came and took our order but thats the best we received from that time onward. About 45min to an hour into the movie I looked around and asked my wife what happened to our food? I also noticed that the young lady and family sitting next to me had not receive her order either and they had ordered well in advance of us. About 10min later the young lady beside us finally received her food and we still had not received ours. No wait staff came by to tell us what was going on either. My wife got up to go see what the issue was why it seems they had forgotten our order. Shortly afterwards, the food finally came out. I asked why it took so long for the food to arrive and was told that it was because the kitchen was running behind. Well, we figured since the kitchen was running behind at least we could then count on our food being hot.... WRONG!!!!!! The food was cold as if it had been sitting for at least 20min. Of course, nobody was around for me to let he wait staff know so I had to get up out my seat as if I was the waiter and walk it out to meet someone in the hall. When the movie ended I decided to talk to the manager at the front. He was in the middle of helping someone so I waited patiently for my turn. By this time 2 customers had arrived (behind me). I began to explain the situation but instead of finishing up with me and passing the other customers off to the employee that was standing directly beside him, he told me that he would help me AFTER he helped the other customers. SO DISRESPECTFUL!!!!!!! My wife and I have decided we will not be visiting this theater for our movies. They have lost our business.

NEVER COME TOTHIS LOCATION RUDE EMPLOYEES, RUDE MANAGMENT Today I went to go see an advanced showing of a movie, but to my dismay, the theatre had over booked itself by 4 times the amount of people allowed in. I was not informed of this ahead of time so I drove the hours in Houston traffic to be rudely denied entry, and when I asked the man why no one was informed of this problem, he said that I should have known better and gotten their earlier. Not once did he apologize or even try to explain further why he would allow 400 people to sign up to go to the event if they were only going to allow 100 people in. So I called management, WRONG THING TO DO!!! The man interrupted my story by saying "okay okay okay" then I could hear the phone being set on a table, then "could you please handle this? Theres a crying girl on the phone." Then a man named Robert came over the phone and listened to my story, then after I was finished, he blamed the whole situation on a third party and promised me he had nothing to do with it. He did not mention the actions of his employees and manager. By this point in time I was livid, and I calmly told him "excuse me sit but if this had happened in my place of business, I would have made sure that everyone would get SOMETHING, either a free movie ticket, or a free meal, or even open up a second movie theatre to show the movie." and he said "Nothing was offered to you? Well, do you want to come back in and see a free movie?" and when I old him I would have to speak to my mother about it, HE HUNG UP ON ME!!! I will never ever return to any Alamo Drafthouse location, and I would advise you to never visit this one.

**Update ** 2/2017 My fiancé and I really missed the Alamo. Thinking it would be the same menu and staff...we decided to give it a try. We bought our tickets online as usual. Our server was nice, however, the food was bad. I feel gross for eating it. The place may have a face lift but the menu needs a major makeover. The reason we would go to Alamo was because you can eat a good meal and watch a movie. Their food tasted fresh and made just for me. The food at Star Cinema was obviously frozen. The wings were really mediocre. Not the same breaded recipe just out of the bag chicken wings. I had the fish & chips which was my fave thing on the Alamo menu. I can tell it was frozen because there was lots of moisture inside the fried part of the fish and it tasted pre-packaged. Total fishappointment. Their fries and queso were the best but all I got was dry crappy fries...like the ones that sit out in the sun during the summer. It was really bad. I dont mind paying more for a nice place, experience or menu that is worth it. Star Cinema is really at the bottom of the barrel. Instead of adding a marble countertop and new reclinable chairs...maybe they should invest in a real chef! P.s. I really hate the Alamo for leaving this side of town. You suck too. _________________________________ This place (Alamo) is so awesome! You can watch a movie, eat and drink. They also host a variety of events that are fun for everyone. My fiance and I will always pick this place before a regular movie theater. The staff is friendly and helpful. Its usually always clean and busy. Downside, its always cold.
