I was on the practice putting green and an employee from the pro shop and his friend were on the practice green having a putting contest. Before they started, each of them put some chew in the mouth and proceeded to SPIT LOOGIES on the practice green. I confronted them to refrain from SPITTING on the practice green BUT they continued to spit their BILE on the green.After they were done, the employee of Empire Ranch hopped the curb onto the parking with the golf cart. I went to the pro shop to complain but NO manager available. I left a message on the head pros cell phone, but never got a return call. It must be nice to be so busy that employees can act in this manner. There are many other public courses to play at a much lower rate.

Played 11/15/15 - Our group played even though it was raining cats and dogs. The to my surprise, wasnt muddy, didnt have an abundance of standing water on greens or in the traps, and they didnt force us to cart path only. If the course can be that nice in horrific weather, it must be pure pleasure on a clear and sunny day (providing the golfer is playing well.. lol) the staff in the clubhouse and grill were great, Empire has dramatically improved over last experience there 2 years ago

One of the best courses in the area. Fairways in good shape, houses are around the course but dont really come into play like some courses. Greens are probably my favorite. Big enough where you can go for it from a distance, they role very true and are probably the fastest in Sacramento area. This is not a fancy private course, but as far as good golf course that is in good shape, this is it.

Their times say they close at 8:00, however upon arriving at 6:30 on a sunday before labor day to hit balls at the driving range, they already had the ball shed locked up and the only person nearby was a ball boy without access to the keys. Very disappointing.

It didnt offer anything special. The greens were not in good shape. There was a lot of residential housing way too close to the course. Not a terrible golf experience but I expected more based on other reviews.

Course in perfect condition, beautiful design, fantastic rates, great staff. All in all, the perfect place to play quality golf.

Good course but there are a lot of houses that are right by fairways. Greens are grainy and dont break as much as you think.
