We went to LUCKY STRIKE HOUSTON, last night 3/31/2010, because of all the hype, from people that we know in California, and couple other friends. What better place to have a "Guys Night Out," right? WRONG ... we called ahead of time, and the guy daid no same day reservations, so be it, we told him we would be there between 6:30pm-7:00pm in the evening, and ask how hard it would be to get a table and about dress code ... he said, come early, and no baggy clothing, white tess, etc. I asked him about hats, because I wear hats with everything, he said no problem. However, my brother-in-law called right after me, and the same guy said, "no problem, with getting a lane then" Reguardless, one of our buddies go there at 6:45pm and reserved 2 lanes, and they told him, 30 minutes, no big deal, so when we arrives at 6:55pm we went to the bar. I walked in with my hat on, and 20 munites in, some random fat wannabee bouncer is like "no hats." come on ... i walked in with it on, right past him! Had okay drinks, food wasnt that great, but oh well, food tab about $300. The waitress kept walking by, without asking if we needed anything, even if our cups were empty. Anyhow, , 30 minutes went by so at 7:15pm, went to get our lane, and they are like another 15 minutes ... so 15 minutes went by, and then they are like the lanes arent working, .... UM .... they all had people on them .... then when emptied, we walked back up, they said, 15 minutes, so 7:45 we went the guy was like 20 minute ... 8:05 hes like 10 minutes, and 8:15 he said "be right back, i will ge your lane ready" .... never came back, at 8:45 they gave us a lane, and the cashier guy, that charged us had the nerve to say, "your total is $97.58, and then the TIP LINE BELOW IS FOR ME, SINCE I GOT YOU A LANE." Money is not an issue, but WHAT B.S. -- hes lucky we gave him anything, we saw people arrive after us with no reservations, get lanes. Reguardless, we got 1.5 hours, and with 8 people we wanted to add 30 more minutes, and the guy was like, i cant extend because of the wait, THERE WAS NOBODY WAITING! then 5 minutes later, another guy was there, asked him, and he said "no problem" BOTTOM LINE --- DONT WAISTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS PLACE!!!!!!

We went to Lucky Strike last night to use our "Free Game of Bowling" coupon from the Houston Visitors Bureau website. We had tried to use the coupon a week prior, but were told that we needed to make a reservation no earlier than 7 days in advance. We thought, no biggie, well just come back next week. So finally, last night we arrived at 7 PM for our reservation to bowl with 4 of our friends. Based on the reviews id seen on google, I knew that even though we had reservations, something was bound to go wrong. Disappointment#1: We were only allowed to bowl for an hour, according to the attendants, our lane was reserved at 8 PM. Thats fine with me but at 7 PM the place was DEAD so why not put me on another lane? According to them, I didnt have a reservation to bowl past 8 pm so it would be impossible for me to get put on a waiting list to continue bowling. Disappointment#2: Nobody showed up to bowl on our lane at 8 pm. I asked around 8:15 if we could continue using the lane and BUY another game of bowling since the reservation obviously had been canceled. The guy said "No because we only sell bowling by the hr. and at 9:00 the lane is reserved. *blank stare* Disappointment#3: We stared at a completely EMPTY bowling lane for 45 minutes and the ppl who had a 9:00 "reservation" never showed up. coincidence? I finally spoke to the manager who then told me that they DO NOT only sell bowling by the hour and that the attendants basically lied to me. He was very nice, and we got to bowl at 9:15. Please stay away from this place if you want to avoid the headache of fighting over a lane thats being unused, and the over priced food and drinks. They have so much potential. Sad.

I have visited this place twice and after the last experience I will not come back. First visit - Food came out cold and drinks took forever to get beer was warm. We did bowl and hang out in their lounge/bar area and had a decent time. bring your wallet an hour with 4 adults can cost 250+. Second visit- We came to bowl with the kids for spring break. We arrived at 7:45pm paid for 3 kids and 3 adults. Order food and drinks for everybody, started to bowl. Place was empty except for a few bowlers. When we were halfway through our first round of bowling the waitress told us that we would have to leave soon because it is 21 and up after 8pm. I was shocked and asked why wasnt that told to us prior to paying 100.00 for everyone to bowl? She explained that was a mistake and apologized but we would have to leave after our first round. This didnt sit right with me, so i asked for a manager. Took about 5 minutes for her to come out she looked like she had been sleeping in the back and was perturbed that she was woken up. I told her what had happened and the only thing she said in an annoyed way was "I will talk with the person at check-in". she walked away and left out of sight. I have never asked to speak to management, because in normal situations the staff can handle an apology and make sense of what has happened. I will not be back nor recommend this place. To many other great establishments downtown to visit, pass on this place at all cost.

Rude, discriminating and insulting and we havent even arrived yet. Not elements my agency teaches clients to better their business. My wife called to reserve a lane for her birthday "a day in advance". After leaving several messages, no one called her back. I guess they dont want our business. Why not? We both work for prominent advertising agencies! But thats what we do. We work underground to find out whats really going on in Houston. Back to the story. So she calls again and asks to reserve a lane and the woman on the other end laughed and told her "no same day reservations". She explained the phone call the previous day and the end of the line simply mumbled "hhmmmm". My wife voiced her frustration in a positive manner and Lucky Strikes laughed and hung up the phone on my wife. This is not the Houston business Im used to. California, maybe, but not Houston. You pay for their furniture and you pay for their atmosphere. The dress code is, well, open a fashion magazine then they have a bouncer to tell you ok, then not ok. Seems like Lucky Strikes has already established their clientele. Others need not show up! Looking for a good time in Houston with friends with good atmosphere to actually enjoy your night, you might want to pass this one up.

I would rate less than 1 star but its not an option. Expensive drinks (waited 20 minutes for the 1st one), quoted a 1 hour wait and didnt get on a lane until 2 hours 20 minutes later which I dont understand because only 3 other lanes were being bowled on when we finally had one. When we started playing the waitresses watched and floated through the room from a distance without asking if we wanted any food/drinks. After we played one game we were told at 11:00p.m. that we couldnt play another game because they close at 12:00 am on Thursdays. Ridiculous. Would have taken us <25 minutes to get a game in but yet "there was nothing they could do." The manager (silver hair and potbelly) was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and had 0 customer service. Amazing the guy even has a job. I cant imagine the owner knows how terrible this guy is, unless he actually is the owner. Extremely disorganized staff with 0 initiative and urgency. I WILL NEVER go back again. NOT a good date spot, Family spot, or company event spot.
