Went to see The Grand Budapest Hotel here and overall, it was a wonderful experience. Almost a century old, the Avon Cinema is a completely authentic, retro theater, equipped with an old-fashioned popcorn machine, vintage coke bottles, any candy you could want, and a beautiful show room with red velvet curtains. My boyfriend and I were greeted at the door by who I assume is the manager of the theater and, learning that we were new to the place, gave us a little tour and told us all about Avon Cinemas history. It was really a delightful experience, and a great location in Providence. I would highly recommend going!

The best! I grew up on the East Side, ( the poor section), and I was exposed to too many movies to remember thanks to the Avon. A perfect place to see a film on a large screen. Give the Avon your time. You are worth it and so is the theater! And lets ban those parking meters! if i could give 10 stars I would.

THE place to go for all the latest in indie movies. Theres not much more to say about it than that. The theater has preserved a lot of the old-school touches that once were mainstays of every movie theater, even keeping the old-timey intro telling you to go spend some of that money on concessions.

It is great to have this gem in town that gets the unique movies and is such a great experience. I end up here multiple times a month and enjoy the experience every time. Its a good idea to get their cinema ticket which allows a reduced price for each movie.

Imagine an old-fashioned setting, charming, retro, a good international selection, not a Hollywood trend, some special events with interesting guests, a sophisticated audience and you have all that and more at the AVON cinema in Stamford.

A five star theater, without question. Ninety percent of the great films Ive seen in the past decade have been at the Avon. I miss Chopin before the film, but you cant complain. Just saw SECOND MOTHER there - BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO!

Classic movie theater! Even has a curtain in front of the screen, and shows classic trailers for movies. The seats are small by todays standards, but this theater makes up for it in nostalgia. Delicious fresh popcorn, too!

Old school cinema house vibe is a nice thing to have in Providence, especially because the other major option is a giant shopping mall. Avon is a great place to see a movie and Kabob and Curry is right across the street.

great films, friendly, staff, beautiful theatre. the only issues i have are the seats are not SUPER comfortable, and it can be tough finding parking. Other than that, LOVE IT!

Im 63", so the seats are too small and crammed for me. Also, the screen is small and the sound quality is not very good. The popcorn, on the other hand, is good.

Great cinema for indy films. Cant give 5 stars because it is an old/outdated facility. Dont get me wrong, I like the charm of it... just cant give it 5.

Special screenings of Bolshoi and London theater priductions raises this above "typical" movie multiplexes.
