We ended up leaving and asking for a refund which was granted! This Zoo is honestly not the worst I have seen but it is not good either. It is very dirty and the animals are kept in very small and un-kept cages. There is no room to run for the animals. It does seem that most of the staff has a good relationship with the animals.HOWEVER, on our particular visit there was a very angry lion in a tiny cage who was aggressively attacking the gate and digging to get out. One of the teenage - early twentys Zoo managers was screaming at people to get away from the cage. We all moved on to another animal. My famiily and I were discussing the issue and our feelings that the lion should be moved to a better place for her since we noticed several broken teeth in her mouth, realizing this was not the first time she had acted in this manner. Mid discussion the same individual who screamed at us earlier decided to come down and yell that if we did not like it we should just leave and did not have to be here. I reminded her that we PAID to be here to see the animals and they had an animal that did not like the surroundings and should be moved or at least a sign put up. She and I continued to argue until I finally realized the situation and asked for her name. She gave me her name and told me the only person above her was the owner since she was a manager. So we left to the front store and I reported to the owner, who did refund our money but was in his late 70-80s and really appeared to be too busy to care. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. IF YOU WANT TO SEE ANIMALS IN THIS AREA GO TO THE ANIMAL ARC IN RED ROCK. It is a bit further to drive but way worth it. Better people, better places, happier animals.

Tha is the first review I have ever written, but I feel compelled to write. I understand and appreciate the effort to rescue animals and SOME of the animals here are rescues. However, this does not excuse you from trying to provide some minimum level of space for the animals under your care. I have seen dog kennels bigger than what most of the animals here are kept in. The big game animals here are in a space much smaller than they should be allowed. I am sure the volunteers and owners here want to do what is best tmfor the animals but they are falling short. I also see it as a bad sign that they are taking on new big game animals when they do not have space for the animals they have. As donations and ticket sales bring in more money they should be using this to better care for and expand the facilities of the animals they already have rather than taking on new ones (they just took on two new tigers). I would gladly pay more money to support and visit a place with fewer rescue animals that are clearly better off than the situation they were rescued from or in another zoo. In its current state I cant recommend this place.

This place does not meet the standards for keeping the amount of animals it does. The lions are separated (which is already wrong considering theyre very social animals) into chain-link fence cages that are so small they may as well hold dogs. There are also separated zebras (also very very social) that were constantly pacing and whipping their tails, a sign of boredom. Two monkeys were kept in a tiny tiny cage and a bobcat with the same size enclosure next to them was panting and pacing the edge of its cage. There is no sign of natural habitat for any of the animals, almost no plants for any of them, the only enclosure (holding a lion) containing plants were just weeds. The animals just look miserable and extremely bored. Really sad, I wouldnt recommend supporting this place. The animals all deserve somewhere far better

This place was absolutely horrible. Let me begin by stating that I eat meat, my family hunts, and I am not a part of PETA. This place was grossly inhumane. The animals are essentially living out their lives in soloitary confinement. The large cats appeared stressed and their cages were nothing short of awful. The old camel had no shade and was clearly in pain. A worker told me he tore a ligament in his knee and was being treated with medication. He sincerely looked miserable. Then there were the deer. They had shade but not a single blade of grass to roam in. The male bucks were separated in an appalling area with little to no shade. The zebra had similar living quarters. I cannot understand how the state of Nevada does nothing to shut this place down. I left there sincerely heartbroken for these poor animals....

Super disappointing. :( The animals are terribly depressing to look at. The enclosures are shockingly small and a majority of the animals are clearly bored. The monkey were reaching and scraping at the plants outside their fences to eat. A good portion of the enclosures were empty or yellow-taped off. If you were lucky, youd find a legible sign posted telling you what animals you were looking at or to explain that you can walk into the deer enclosure at all, let alone to inform you that its the only access to see more of the exhibits. Honestly, Ive been to small zoos before and this was just terribly, terribly sad as a paying patron, but mostly for the animals and their clearly dismal existence there. I scanned the gift shop for their license and was completely shocked to find one posted. Not sure how....

Best kept secret in Reno/Sparks area. It is great place for family fun! The more folks visit will help them plan expansion and provide even more family adventures! I am hopeful they will build a state of the art aviary for their current parrots and to take in local birds no longer to be able to be cared for my their owners. Please visit our local zoo and help them build a better future with multiple benefits to our community!!!

This horrible is an absolute disgrace, I dont know how anyone could write a good review. There were lemurs stuffed in parrot cages, with hamster water bottles, the crocodile had a pond big enough for koi, and all of the large cats were in kennels sized for dogs, there was not even decent shelter for many of the animals, and it was not clean at all. Do not waste your money, if anything this place should be reported!

This place is an embarrassment to zoos of any sort. The animals are kept in spaces that would be not pass code in Baku, Azerbaijan, rates are an absolute rip off but after paying we prayed that our fees could have been redirected to rescuing the animals. Please if you have any love for animals/humanity do not support this establiment.

Loved It!!! The staff is amazing and their love and care for the animals show. My young son and I got to witness the special bonds that people can form with animals. Now my son wants to go into an animal field. The facilities were very clean and well kept. I recommend any family in the Reno area to drop by and visit.

My advice to you: Go at opening or in the evening! We arrived a little after 12 and all the big cats were taking their cat naps because they were just fed. My 3 year old son had fun feeding the deer but really wanted to see the big cats. The staff was friendly and genuinely care for the many types of animals.
