Gods own Forbidden Fruit was used in the soup today and he didnt need to be tricked into eating it by a flawlessly naked woman! Dantes 7th hell is worth the special of the day. Somehow he has coaxed Tinkerbell into sprinkling pixie dust on each sandwich turning a flightless bar hoagie into a peacocking parakeet without being scared of sweet, salty, or spicey, and never taking advantage of the commoners timid pallet. Keith, the one man phenom will still stop and talk and never rush, making everyone feel like a cast member of Cheers. Detour your way to the stadium for some sports or horror movies on the big screen or some people watching and live bands upstairs.

This bar is good for a few things, great sound if you want to see a metal/alternative/punk show, 2 levels, fast bartenders, games/pool table/darts... but on the other hand you will have to deal with an older generation of wanna be young people who think they are still cool by wearing scene clothing and loaded with faded tattoos and sagging peircings. a good amount of young people go there too but the regulars there just really need to grow up... overall its pretty average.. this bar would have potential to be an awesome alternative to most bars in south side, but the older wanna bes kind of ruin it.

The Smiling Moose offers expertly prepared and interesting bar food. The chef, sourced from one of the Southsides high-end restaurants uses high quality ingredients with a twist. Try the Habanero Burger. The Smiling Moose is also one of Pittsburghs last great music venues that welcomes touring bands. Bands play upstairs, so its not disruptive if you just want to have dinner or a drink. Its been great to watch the Moose change and adapt over the years, turning from a metal scene bare bones bar to great place to eat, drink, and hangout for all sorts of people.

Had a bad experience with the wait staff here. I didnt have an extremely terrible experience but would not be recommending this to a friend. The table was dirty and the server was rude about it. The stand up comedian wasnt very funny. I would try this again but not sure because I would rather try tons of other places.

Probably the best place in South Side if you want to drink. The happy hour is worth attending!!! Seriously, go to their happy hour... The food here is also fantastic, I had the shrimp sliders last time and loved them. Moose just does a great job in every aspect of the business.

I went here on halloween. It was a good time. They had reasonable drink specials a live band and a DJ in the upstairs. They have a good selection of craft beer on tap and in bottles. I was always able to get a drink without waiting very long bar tenders were quick and nice.

Load in is a joke. 30+ stairs in a narrow staircase. Sound was ok at best but the sound guy had an attitude. The bar itself has no parking so touring bands get screwed loading gear blocks down, and its right in the middle of the Pittsburgh bro-scene. No thanks never again.

The entire building is very old and run down. The bar itself is pretty small and I personally cant speak on the alcohol selection. The upstairs is a live music venue but it really mirrors the same issues as downstairs, very old, poorly maintained, and small.
