This used to be a great course but when they made it "drought resistant" they ruined it. The greens dont hold, the waste areas are a joke and every single hole has run off areas that sends the ball into a trap or waste area it your ball is within 20 yards of them. They have hidden several of these stupid run offs so if you have not played the new layout, you dont see what is in store. Some traps have concrete under the sand. Since they dont seen to mow the greens, the speeds are all over the place. The only hope is that the Poa will soon take over as it has already started to. If you hit your tee shots over 300 yards and are spot on with your irons, this is a great course. For us mortals, the course is way too firm and half of it looks dead. At least they only doubled the green fee after ruining the course.

Huge disappointment. Teed off at 2:30pm on a Saturday and finished just before 8:00pm. Longest round of my life. We had to wait at every tee box because the course was overbooked. Beverage cart girl made her last round at 2:30pm...not sure why because the course was still packed. Snack bar was closed by the time we made the turn and they do not serve hotdogs or to go food at the restaurant. Most frustrating aspect was the Marshall stopping by to tell us how slow of a round it was and that there was no way to speed it up. Isnt that one of the responsibilities of the Marshall? I gave it two stars because the scenery on the course is nice and the course itself is challenging. Would never recommend this to family or friends.

This is the first time I played here after the re-design and it was fantastic. I cant wait until the greens get settled in cause right now they are just a little too fast and a lot of our shots would barely hold the green. The starters could be a little bit more helpful. If they would have told us it was cart path only at the beginning of our round, I wouldnt have to have heard it from the marshal yelling at us. The staff member cleaning our clubs at the end of the round was a nice touch. Waitress service could be a little better.

The remodel is fantastic and greatly improved the course. I went from being a detractor to a total fan of this place. The fairways are wide open and go nearly to the tree line on every hole. Some of the tee and approach shots offer up a lot of different options for shot making; you could play the course multiple times in a day and play a different way each time (if only we had the time every day for such a thing). Poppy is worth a stop if youre heading to Monterey for some golf!

I played a few weeks ago after playing SpyGlass and this place was 100x better. When I showed up the staff was friendly, really helpful and just a lot of fun. We got to walk the back 9 first (by ourselves!) and it was amazingly like Pinehurst #2- loved the set up and the course. In a few years itll be spectacular. Front nine just the same. I would pick this course over SG any time- this was a great golf experience.

Fantastic course. Some really great, varied holes. I played in March and it was in great condition. The day i played, they had people playing the back 9 first, which starts across the road from the clubhouse. For me, this was the better 9. Great practice facilities - i wish i could play here every week.

I played here for the first time with my travel club in February. The course was in great shape and very green! The greens were extremely fast and if you hit the center it would roll off the back almost every time. I will definitely play this one again in the future!

this course provides a range of challenge to the golfer from the shorter tees to the tips, each provides a good test. best deal is for members of the northern california golf association who receive a substantial discount to play. nice golf shop and restaurant.

They sprinkled fertilizer throughout the tee shots without stopping the tractor. What a rude to Golf etiquette. And their cart fee is totally Overpriced (25$/people). Dont understand why their green fee is so expensive comparing its conditions and management.

We have come here for different events to include fundraisers, parties, and most recently the Monterey Jazz Festival Blues in the Park for Fathers Day. It is a superb location, plenty of parking. Well be back!

The remodel was more than I expected. They could not have done a better job. The course is definitely more difficult and course overall rating went from 7-9.5. The clubhouse remodel was also a great touch.

Its a great Golf Course they have great food at the Clubhouse. Have a nice outdoor patio with gas fire pits. The staff is extremely courteous and the golf course is in excellent shape
