My husband and I were not only married at The Matthews House, but we held a bridal luncheon, our rehearsal dinner, and reserved the entire house for the week-end so that we and our closest friends could stay on site. It was well worth the price to have everything in one place and its so comfortable and beautiful there! We had planned to have our wedding ceremony outside on 6/11/11, but moved it inside the ballroom on the morning of the wedding due to the unseasonably warm temps and our elderly guests simply wilting in the hot sun. Though Nina Davis had worked at length with me about details for our ceremony and reception, she wasnt around on the morning of our wedding when we decided to move the ceremony indoors. I had asked Nina previously about this scenario and she assured me that it would be just fine. There was some confusion about how to proceed, on the day of, and as a bride, I had planned so much in advance so that I would be able to enjoy the week-end with my family and friends from out of town. I was very frustrated when the florist arrived and someone on staff came to find me upstairs b/c no one was on hand to direct the floral set-up. The hits just kept on coming too and all b/c of the last-minute change that the staff simply wasnt prepared for. Our wedding coordinator, who arrived two hours late on the day of the ceremony, had to step up to organize and coordinate the venue staff in setting up for the ceremony and the reception. It was nearly a disaster. Other than this mishap, the staff were great to work with, the facilities were beautiful and tasteful, and the FOOD was amazing! All of our guests couldnt say enough about the salads and finger foods for my bridal luncheon, the pig pickin for our rehearsal dinner, and the dinner during the reception. The chef there put on such a spread for our reception. Though we barely had time to look at it and our photographer was not able to take pics of it, I heard that it was one of the most visually appealing and delicious meals they had ever tasted! I would have used The Matthews House again, but I definitely would have made an earlier decision to move the ceremony indoors to allow the staff on site more time to prepare. I think it took them by surprise!

Planning a wedding for a year is a big job and trusting the Matthews House to follow those plans can change in just one moment. The wedding was beautiful. Plans went as directed until the "petal toss" was to take place and they (The Matthews House) decided they didnt want the petals tracked in the house hid them from us. I looked in every room and asked ALL the staff to help look. I spent lots of time asking both Nina and Denise where they might be and they had no idea where had gone. For the Matthews House to decide to TAKE away that activity of the wedding is INEXCUSIBLE. I had expectations of beautiful pictures being taken with beautiful petals showering my daughter and new son in law. Not to mention the time and money envolved in making the pretty cones that were stuffed with rose petals. I, my husband, and sister went to collect things from the wedding and No One from the house came to talk to us or tell us they found the petals until 3 hours later after I went inside to ask where they were found was told "someone from the staff put them under the cake table." I knew they would be found since " they" hid them. The photographer told me they stored camera lenses under the cake table and at end of reception and everyone out they gathered their things and said the baskets for the petal toss was NOT under there. There was no room for them for one thing. Besides she would not have wanted to "miss that shot!" So those of you who have spent money and time on rose petals may want rethink that idea , even though the petals were discussed at great length with Nina. In planning with Nina for the ceremony guests were to be seated on the outside of the rows because the rose petals filled the isle. Not cool to take away a big piece of some ones wedding.

With only days away from my planned outdoor wedding ceremony we learned the temps were dropping into the low 30s on our special day. Having done a company holiday event the prior year the first place I thought to reach out to was The Matthews House in Cary. My situation was taken seriously and Sarah was glad to help us out on short notice. For a very small fee we were lucky enough to marry in the Parlor Room on December 16th, 2016. We had full access to the house for photos and Sarah graced us with a champagne toast. Brides and Grooms to be if your looking for a great venue for short, private, and intimate ceremonies this is your place. Graciously, Julie & Doug Sutter

We held a graduation party at Matthew House in 2017 and as a host the whole experience of planning and executing the whole event was fantastic, especially, working with their owners, Sarah Chung and her family. It is a lovely place with foundation of antique house, flowing into option to do activities both inside and outside with a beautiful garden. All the guests had a great time and were amazed at this hidden gem in heart of Cary downtown.

My husband and I had a great pleasure to go to a wedding at the Matthews House in Cary. We are photographers and we loved the house area where the bride gets ready (BEAUTIFUL!), the big salon with the big beautiful chandeliers and the outdoors too. The staff is also great people to work with. They were nice and flexible, at all times! It is a perfect place for weddings and we took fantastic pictures there! We totally recommend it!

The Matthews House was truly a wonderful, beautiful place for our wedding and reception in October. Preeti was incredible to work with, so friendly and helpful. The whole staff went above and beyond to provide a fantastic place to get married with amazing food, service and a desire to make it so personal to us. I highly recommend this venue to everyone for any occasion!!

Hidden jewel in Cary. Went for Monday lunch buffet. The chipotle chicken was great but the real treat was the cupcakes. Best I ever had. The Matthews House is a wonderful historic setting. I highly recommend it for family or company functions. Great service as well.

Great location for civic club meetings. Echo in main room is an issue but that is it. Great Place for weddings.
