Went to the Power Station Pub. Burgers are good. Had the UFO burger this time. Bun was really good, patty cooked to medium, topped eith tillamook cheddar, crispy onion rings, crispy bacon, some lettuce and thinly sliced smally red onions, and spicy mayo sauce which I opted for on the side. Texturewise, it was fantastic. Bun had both softness and crispness, crispy onions were crispy, bacon was crispy and flavorful, patty was juicy although a little small. I was a little sad when I came to the last few bites and only had the bun left with nothing else. A bigger patty would have been fantastic. Overall a great burger that I could barely open my mouth wide enough to take a bite. So big that a smaller person might dislocate their jaw to eat but even then it would be worth it. Had the basil and white cheddar burger the last time I was there and that was good too. Definately choose tots over fries if you enjoy crispy potatoes otherwise their fries I beleive are fresh cut and those are never crispy at restaurants unless the soak them in cold water for a day or two to reduce the starch or use some sort of batter which the dont. The friend I was with didnt seem to enjoy fish and chips much and wished they would have ordered a burger too. Enjoyed the black and tan brownie at the end. It came out with the brownie and dish hot and topped with the edgefield vanilla bean ice cream, which is pretty good, in a pool of caram-ale sauce and some drizzled on top of the ice cream. Thought it was going to be overly sweet but turned out just a tad bit sweet. The flavors were good. Textures were creamy, juicy from the sauce, and soft and velvety from the brownie. Both cold and warm would mingle in your mouth creating the perfect harmony. But the dish does have its downfall being itself being too hot and melting the ice cream too fast creating an ice cream mess all over it. If they were to tranfer the hot brownie onto a cold dish the ice cream may have lasted longer. But too bad it was too good and too small for two people to share and was gone within 2 minutes. Toasted crushed hazelnuts on top would have made it even better.

McMenamins is really a great idea and so unique, but there are definitely some negatives about my most recent stay here. First and foremost, if you want a weekend full of drinking beer/wine/eating/movies and golf then its perfect. If you want some sleep, then its not. That is really one of the only negatives, but a big one for me as Im writing this I want to fall back asleep. The walls are so thin that every single person that walks by, speaks a word, sneezes -- you hear it. It kept me and my boyfriend up all night. So a good nights sleep is definitely not something I would look forward to here. On top of it, they give you 2 really thin blankets. We were both pretty chilly all night, I have never been anywhere where they give you so few blankets. Let me say, our main reason for going here was to relax in the outdoor pool, which that wasnt the most pleasant experience either. First of all, its in a distant building so you have to walk outside to get to it - which that wouldnt been as big of a deal if there was better lighting. We stepped in every single massive puddle because we couldnt see anything when we were trying to get there. Not to mention the cars couldnt see us either so we were dodging those too. Once at the pool, it looks fabulous and feels amazing BUT one thing they are seriously lacking is somewhere to hang your robe/clothes/towel. In Oregon it rains a good amount, and it did just that last night, but since we had no where to put our stuff everything got soaked as well. So now its freezing, dark, and we only have wet towels to wrap around us to get back to the main lodge. Even if they just put a few extra lights and some outdoor clothes hangers with a roof it would make a MASSIVE difference. SO easy to even just make yourself. Overall, I wouldnt go back unless I was with a crew of friends and wasnt planning on getting much sleep. I still do really love this place, just wouldnt spend the night again, Id rather sleep at home.

This place is so fun! Visited for the first time on Saturday with a group of girlfriends in town for a Bachelorette weekend and had such a great time. We had brunch at Black Rabbit, which was delicious. We then made our way around the property stopping at the Distillery bar, Tea House bar and Little Red Shed. I loved that we were able to walk around with our drinks, service was great at each place. I would totally love to stay here next time im in Portland or just to bring friends for a day of fun. Edit 02/06/2017 After having such a great experience this past summer, my same group of friends decided to reserve rooms to celebrate a birthday this past weekend. We booked 4 rooms, all were different in size, location and theme. My room was a double queen located on the first floor near the Black Rabbit Bar and one of the side entrances/exits. While our room was large and spacious, we had the unfortunate pleasure of hearing the door open and slam shut at all hours of the night and hear groups of people talking on the balcony outside our window at all hours. I understand the building is very old, so you literally hear everything that goes on outside. Another one of our friends staying in a different room heard her neighbors be intimate literally all night long, it was so loud it sounded like it was happening in their room. We also noticed inconsistencies with customer service and just service in general at the various bars/pubs/restaurants. We would have awesome servers and bartenders in one place and then we would have servers/bartenders who were pretty unfriendly, seemed unmotivated and just slow service in general. I loved the food and the happy hour at the Black Rabbit bar/restaurant, and the Power station pub had pretty good food. However, I wasnt a big fan of their sandwiches/wraps/pizzas offered at the pool hall and distillery bar. A large pizza is $30 and lacks flavor.

This was my second time staying at Edgefeild and this time was for my 21st birthday! It was a great location for such an event because there are many bars through out the property. Theres somewhere to get a beer around every corner! I made a reservation in the black rabbit restaurant for a party of 16 expecting typical mcmenamins dining but it was their more upscale restaurant with meals in $30+ range and a limited menu. Luckily our waiter caught on to the fact that we werent expecting it to be so formal and he redirected us to the patio restaurant which was MUCH better and was the typical mcmenamins menu I was expecting and craving. Food was delicious as always and house made beer was just as good! We stayed in the king suite and it was very charming and it was nice to have our own bathroom (most of the rooms use the shared bathrooms). Room service arrived on time in the morning and the breakfast was delicious! I will say if youre wanting the typical modern amenities and furnishing this is not the place for your! Rooms have no TV or phone which in my opinion adds to the charm. Furnishing is antique, beautiful and unique to each room. All through out the property there is amazing artwork. Walls are beautifully painted with art and stories of people who lived there long ago when the property was a poor farm. The place is littered with character unmatched by any where Ive been. There is so much more to say too... Theres a beautiful soaking pool located outside of the full service spa. They have a movie theater and always have some kind of live music. Wine tasting, golf, and beers, wines and ciders made on site. Im sure theres more Im forgetting!! I love Edgefield Mcmenamins and will be going back next year and many years to follow. If you are in Oregon I would definitely recommend a visit at the very least!
