I grew up in Tillamook area...used to watch the blimps fly over when I was a child. So going to the hangers was always such an exciting little adventure. I went to the museum last week with my brother - to see again the one remaining building and its exhibits. We go each year and wander through the site saying how we remember... This visit was a total disaster!! After paying our entry fee (full price!!) we went through the door into the hanger to see - almost NO exhibits. Dirty - so dirty that it was a shock to see the neglect. The gift shop attendant short-changed me on my purchases, claiming that she couldnt count the cash that I gave her because she had put it in the cash drawer already. Nice trick... We left in disgust, sickened at what had once been a great little day trip from home (Astoria). There are no exhibits, and the building areas have been roped off so that you cant even see THAT. All this leaves one to wonder whos collecting the cash thats charged to visitors!! Since its no longer going toward paying for the leasing of exhibits, and there are no exhibits. Dont waste time and money here...sad to have to say that after so many years of good visits there in the past.

Dont go. I am sorry to have to give this review to a museum I once loved. I drove 2 hours yesterday only to find that most of the planes--and all the most exciting ones, had been permanently moved to Madras, OR. They didnt tell us this when we entered and didnt reduce the entrance fee, they just let us pay full price to see the 9 or 10 planes they had left and discover a mostly empty museum on our own. When I asked where the planes were the museum curator said to me, "Didnt you see the article in the paper?" I thought, "REALLY?? Are you that out of touch? No one under 60 uses the phone book or reads the newspaper anymore." To be fair, they should reduce the price for museum entrance since most of the collection is missing. Bad form, gentlemen. Be up front with your customers, they will remember how you treated them when you expect them to drive to Madras. Left a sour taste in my mouth.

As of 2015, a $9.00 adult ticket is overpriced for a museum that is definately too old and now underfunded. It is also a shame there was no family ticket option: had to spend $50.00 for my family of five to get in. Dont bother wasting your money and go out for dinner instead with your wife. I had finished viewing everything in about 10 minutes, and there was nothing interesting to see besides the MIG, Tomcat, and WW2 soldier equipment. Id say the old wooden hanger had some beautiful architecture too. But again, its a little old and gross now... Sorry if i sound harsh, but they should seriously reconsider their prices. I would recommend people to skip this place and keep driving to the nearest beach...

You need to know that the air museum itself is the exhibit. It is one of the last WWII blimp buildings. These beautiful old wooden buildings are not going to be around long - enjoy the amazement of them while they are here!! Geez, I am glad I dont visit historic places based on other reviewers opinions. Look around you when you beyond what is right in front of you - you just might be amazed by what you see. Encourage the next generation to carry on the love of history and preservation these wonderful people who love and care for these buildings obviously do for our benefit. I thank you all for your service of the past and future. God bless you all.

So disappointed! Been their with my folks along time ago as a teen, hanger full of planes had a great time, so I take my family to the air museum pay out the nose for admission walk into a literally empty hanger! Just a hand full of planes! Ladie at the desk says, O they flew most of the planes to an air show this week. I responded you burn me full price for 1/3 of the display! I want my money back! Sorry we dont refund money. Beware is all I can say. Theyll keep a strait face while stealing your money as your paying to walk through an empty building.

I visited the Museum a few weeks ago. It was a great time. Just the hangar itself is awe inspiring! They had a nice collection of aircraft. My favorites were the P-38, Corsair, and F-14, but there were a lot of other great planes to check out. It wasnt overcrowded and staff were friendly. This place is totally better than the Tillamook cheese factory, although you may as well go there while in Tillamook and get some good ice cream! The Air Museum is one of the best I have been to!

My son and I went to the museum August 2015 and were rather disappointed. For as large of an area that they have there were only about 15 aircraft and most were donated from some guy. Only about 3 Military aircraft, a couple helicopters, a broken glider and some private propeller airplanes. There were about 8 RVs in one end and what looked like a couple of individuals aircraft being stored in it but no one was allowed beyond the roped area. Wont waste my money going back there.

The Tillamook Air Museum is interesting but also a bit of a strange menagerie of slowly decaying vehicles that seem to have found a temporary home on their way to meeting their ultimate earthly demise. These vehicles, and some have nothing to do with the “Air” in air museum, are housed in the WWII wooden blimp hangar B in Tillamook Oregon. The hangar itself smells a bit of rotting wood which has a leaky roof which seems to portray the general theme to all of the items inside.

tremendous amount of history here. We watched a short film about the history of blimp manufacturing, a longer film about the HINDENBERG, and an even longer film about the Japanese in WW2. All 3 were excellent. So much to see. One of the small planes displayed here was the model John Denver died in, one was the model plane Tom Cruise flew in, in Top Gun, and one giant military transport plane you can go inside. Much more. (Cafe closes for the season around Labor Day.)

Previously one of my favorite aviation museums but their collection has dwindled since I was last there; the war birds are almost nonexistent now. The collection has diversified to include some fire apparatus and other vehicles along with a model room and some other displays but overall it is not the what is once was. All of that said it is worth visiting, if for no other reason than to experience the inside of a blimp hanger; worth the price of admission alone.

Great museum! They dont have to many planes on display but I think the place itself is far more interesting than the planes. The museum is located in an absolutely huge blimp hangar. There used to be two of them but the other burned down and the remains are still there; a company had built a building within the remains wich I think is kind of cool. I thought the exhibit about the history of the hangar and the blimp industry was very interesting.
