First let me say that I don’t have time to give average scores. I only do this when something was really bad and I need to warn others or high scores when it was really good and I want to share it. So let me start by saying that the staff was friendly and gave good service, but there were a number of problems; first you cant see movie times driving by. Okay, that is only inconvenient I agree. Second, the prices were high on refreshments and the popcorn stale. You would think at the prices they charge that it would be fresh. The movie seats were hard and uncomfortable and the screen not very bright making the movie dark and hard to see. It also troubled me that the management prohibited concealed weapons by law abiding license holders. Perhaps they have had problems in the past causing them to do this, but this action in effect makes their business a preferred target by criminals and thereby puts their patrons in even greater danger. Granted, they had armed law enforcement personnel on site as security which helped off set this risk, but the combined message to me was that either the management was Anti-American or it was a very unsafe environment much like shopping at a dimly lit convenience store at night with bars on the windows and doors. Over all, the experience was disappointing and I will not go back.

If I could give this place a negative star, I would. We went to the see Hobbit tonight and, when we arrived, we were directed to a different theater than the one on our ticket. Fine, no problem except it was darker than the damn batcave in there and we couldnt see. Thankfully, some other patrons were seated and shone their cell phone lights for us so we could find our way to a seat. The movie began without issue and then 2 hours in, the sound completely went out for about 5 mins. Then, the sound came back on except it was the stupid "First Look" audio that plays in the theater before the movie actually begins. We are watching a critical fight scene and hearing audio from something called King of the Nerds. Unbelievable. To add insult to injury, after 5-10 mins of this, they shut the movie completely down. We left, angry, only to be greeted by an incompetent crew who tried to usher us back into the theater because the movie came back on with real sound. At that point though, our experience was ruined. No apologies until my husband got angry and then, they were merely defensive. They tried to get us to take passes which are of NO USE to me because I will NEVER go back to this theater. EVER. This is the worst theater in Greensboro, bar none, and someone needs to just shut. it. down.

The theater itself was fine. Good sound and nice seats. The staff, not so much. When we arrived, there was nobody in the ticket booth and no sign that indicated where to purchase tickets or redeem them. We had purchased tickets through Fandango and when we presented our confirmation # (per Fandango instructions) to an employee they said they couldnt accept it. The total indifference and lack of concern from the employee was quite evident. Although quite irritated, it was my birthday and the movie was a treat from my wife so we bought tickets in addition to the two we had already paid for through Fandango. I have already roasted Fandango through the BBB website, as we had to dispute the CC charge due to their horrible and inept CS. If Red Cinemas will not accept or cannot process Fandango tickets and/or confirmation numbers supplied by Fandango, they should not be part of or participate on the Fandango website. Ineptitude and indifference all the way around. Thanks for making my Birthday less enjoyable Red Cinemas. :(

They get one star because the place was clean (including bathrooms) However, the experience was terrible. The surround sound was not working so it was really tough to hear the movie. The air conditioning was not on and once I started sweating and the friends I invited with me really expressed their concerns I decided to go ask what was going on. I walk to the counter and the employees just stood there looking at me at the front counter as if I were there to provide them with exceptional customer service. So I decided to speak to them and express my concern about the air conditioning. The response was well check it out. I asked if they needed to know which movie I was watching and they said we know. This made me feel as if the air conditioning was turned off on purpose. They came in and fixed the air conditioning but the volume remained low. Going forward I will drive the extra 7 minutes to another location. I am one that likes to enjoy the experience at places a spend my money and invite others to spend theirs.

This place is horrible. Went to see a movie on Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend here despite telling myself before that I would never go back. Again I was shocked by how poorly this place is run. Its filthy - from the concessions to the bathrooms to the theaters. Staff clearly could care less. Chairs for them to sit everywhere with magazines and books laying all over the place. Newspapers all over the ground in the stalls, just disgusting! Once the lights go out it isnt much more enjoyable. Seats are gross with fabric covered in hair and you can hear the movie next to you. All in all just very upsetting that one of the central theaters in the city is such a bad place to go spend your hard earned money. If you are tempted to go see something and its your only option, do yourself a favor and just wait to rent it or drive the extra distance to a competitor.

Its hard to rate the Red Cinema, because they represent the absolute best and worst in the area. They get the best selection of movies and are the only theater in Greensboro to consistently carry independent films. For this reason alone, I visit them more than anywhere else in the area. Another big positive is their two new luxury cinemas, which represent the best experience to watch a movie in Greensboro. Leather reclining seats and a trendy layout. Unfortunately if you see movies in any of the other 14 or so theaters in the The Red, you have seats that are falling apart and filthy. Its horrible uncomfortable. I tend to only see independent movies and luxury seating films there. If they eventually update all of the rooms, I will likely go there exclusively.

I just finished watching Ghostbusters and I really enjoyed the experience of the reclining seats. From what I have read, I dont think that all the theaters carry the reclining seats. This is the premier weekend for GB so maybe they only show premier screenings in the reclining theaters. IDK. I do know that the extra $4 for reclining seats is worth it. I am a patron of Movie Tavern most of the time but I am considering a switch. Although they still offer beer and wine.....it is better that you sneak your own in from dollar tree and the local ABC store. So the reason I did not give it 5 stars is because they dont sell alcohol as their competition the movie tavern and also they do not have "ordered" food. I can compensate for that.
