AMC has bought them out and we thought they would stay the same because they seemed like they were going to for the first 6 months or so. We loved going to the movies but hated the crowds and were so glad we had Carmike 8 because they didnt show the opening weeks, they were about 2 months behind. Because of this, their prices were wonderful and there was always room. We went to 2 different movies in one day in December 2016 and paid $7.00 for all 4 tickets (2 tickets for each movie). Now theyre first run and I just looked one up today and its $6.99 for one ticket during the afternoon. This would be fine for a newer theater with nice seating that didnt fall backwards on you and popcorn that was actually fresh and hot, but this theater is OLD, the popcorn is usually not even from the same day (you can see the bags in the office) and you never know what will happen when you sit down for the movie All things that are no problem with a deep discounted ticket but a big problem with a full priced one.

Ticket prices were great, management that night was very overbearing on staff and wouldnt let them just do their job. Being in management myself, employees wont be there long if you dont give them a chance to do their work without a "hoverer". Prices of drinks and popcorn were almost more than it would be at a more expensive theater. I understand they have to make their money somewhere, but the popcorn wasnt near as good as other theaters yet comparable in price. We took my 2 year old and I asked for a Dixie cup if possible to put some popcorn in for her and the manager jumped in front of the cashier and said that she only has bags and would have to charge me for an entire popcorn to get a bag....so if you go and take children, take some small Dixie cups to distribute your overpriced, not-very-tasty popcorn amongst yourselves.

Since AMC has taken over both Carmike theaters in Greensboro everything has gone down hill. the cheap theater isnt cheap anymore and is old and not even stadium seating. I think all the employees have changed too. They arent very nice and dont have a clue to what they are doing. Lost all my carmike rewards points, enough for a free ticket, popcorn and drink. The one in Greensboro acted as if they were getting a face-lift with the new do it yourself drink machines but that is about it. You have to stand in the concession Line to buy your tickets or pick them up if you paid online, even if you dont want anything else. That is a big waste of time. Im done with AMC. Brass field is the best bet now. They have new rockers now and have cleaned up the lobby. Prices arent to bad for first run movies either.

We used to go here until some problems occurred tonight 1/09/2016. First off we walk in and there are only two people working and they sell the movie tickets AND do the popcorn and the drinks so we wait in line about 15 minutes (there are two lines per each side and both were like 15 minute waits) and then after waiting 15 minutes we go to pay and they say the movie isnt showing because the projector broke - things happen but WHY could they have not had a sign outside the theater to let people know this before they stood in line 15 minutes for nothing! Plus - Why would they only have two people doing everything on a busy weekend night? We arent going back - its not worth saving the money for tickets which by the way went form $1.75 to $1.87 - how did they get that amount???

Dont be deceived by positive reviews. Those are from when it used to be Carmike. We used to love this theater. Perfect for families on a budget. Not anymore. AMC took over recently and it sucks, excuse my language. WAY overpriced for a dirty old theater with horrible seating. And Im sorry, but the whole vibe has changed since the switch to AMC. All the old staff is gone, too. I went once and will never go back. Id rather pay a few bucks more and go to the Palladium with their awesome new recliner seating. To be honest, Id be surprised if it lasts. Its a crying shame that they had to ruin it by switching. Should have left well enough alone. VERY disappointing. I would have given it zero stars, but it wouldnt let me post unless I picked at least one.

Like previous reviewers have said, all the positive reviews are from when it used to be the discounted Carmike theater. It is now AMC and definitely not worth the cost anymore. It is $7 for a movie ticket to sit in a theater that is damp and musty without stadium seating. Some of the theaters have trash cans catching leaks from the ceilings, chairs covered in black trash bags, and missing ceiling panels with insulation coming out. When it used to be $1.50 that was easy to look past, but from now on we will be going to the Palladium and pay a bit more for a much nicer experience.

I would have giving a higher rating for the theater itself however the problem is how you pay. It was my first time going with family and I was looking for where to pay, when I was told that you stand in the concession line to pay. What if I dont want any concessions I asked? You still have to stand in line. So my family waited in line for about 15 minutes while those in front of us got their snacks and tickets. Makes no sense. Have someone take the money and give tickets separately from the concession line.

This Carmine needs a serious makeover! From the time you pull into the parking lot, theres trash and mess everywhere... And it doesnt get any better when you walk into the lobby! The staff acts as if they do not see the nastiness swirling throughout the lobby and spilling into the bathrooms & theaters! Whomever owns this facility should be ashamed for their customers to be treated like this... Hell, Im embarrassed for them!

Staff are Amazing! I go every chance I get. Feels good to take an entire family out and order drinks and popcorn for less than 40. Plenty of change left for the arcade games. Only issue I ever had there was an old Steve Austin wannabe asserting his opinion on a younger gentleman in a very ignorant fashion. Staff resolved the situation with no one getting locked up...and everyone enjoyed their own movies

really gone downhill. just a clue management, your there to help people get into the movie with refreshments. If there is a line of people, in our case EIGHT. and there is a manager, and two employees behind the counter and people are trying to get in, you FIRST, HELP THEM, SECOND, OPEN THE OTHER REGISTER TO GET THE CUSTOMERS TO THEIR MOVIE TIMES INSTEAD OF WALKING OFF AND HAVE THEM WAITING FOR SERVICE.

I love this place! Me and my boyfriend were here and the movie went completely out. Projector broke and they had to give us refunds. Everyone else was mouthing off the whole time but staff was really courteous. And on our way out the manager pulled us aside and thanked us for not being unruly and handed me a hand written note for free tickets and popcorn for our next visit! Very exceptional staff!
