The Carmike is not the newest, cleanest, or fanciest theater in town, nor is it the cheapest. But for matinees and midnight premieres, its definitely my preferred theatre. The Carmike has had midnight premieres to all the movies Ive wanted to see at midnight for the last four years, from Watchmen to The Avengers. And unlike other theaters, the Carmike doesnt charge extra for "special showings." You get the same price for a midnight premiere as for a regular weekend night showing. PLUS, week nights and matinees are even cheaper. With a student ID, you get a discount on more showings than at other theaters. The Regal Grande in Friendly Center doesnt give student discounts on weekends or to matinees, but at the Carmike, it only costs $6 for a student, whether youre at a midnight premiere or on a date on Saturday. Yes, the theaters a little older, but youre not there to look at the lobby--youre there for a movie. The concessions are fairly priced--no $10 popcorn here. Plus, since the theaters a little out of the way and a little older, the only time Ive had to wait in line was for Beauty in the Beast 3D. We didnt even wait for the Harry Potter 7 midnight.

Enjoyed the movie, and their popcorn is really good. Good selection of current movies to choose from. Type of seating was adequate. Very few employees working during the hours we attended; so luckily the line for tickets was not too long. Reason for no rating higher than this is that the cinema needs updating and some repairs made for the prices they are charging. The night my family and I went we spent over $50 for the movie, popcorn and two drinks while it was raining outside and inside the theater. A few ceiling tiles were drooping and dripping from the saturation of water leaking on them obviously from holes in the roof of the building. Its a good theater with good people trying to run it, but you shouldnt have to worry about the roof falling in on you, your family or anyone else there during the movie. Hopefully the owners will help fix the roof and update the theater as soon as possible to help protect the safety of their employees and guests and make attending much more enjoyable and free of such concerns as these.

Went here yesterday for the first time with my 2 grandsons and I dont see one single thing wrong with this theater. Great seating, great sound, it is NOT hard to find- its very simple and right off I-40, you only make 2 turns to get there. If you bother to look up directions, you have no problem whatsoever. It is very clean and the people are very friendly. The complaints I see are from quite some time ago, so maybe they have fixed things- if there was really anything wrong to begin with. I went in spite of those reviews and found them to be completely untrue in the present time. I highly recommend this place- maybe the prices are slightly higher than other theaters, I dont know because Im not a big movie goer. However, since it isnt right in the middle of a busy shopping center, you also dont have a super huge crowd which is just fine with me. My recommendation is go there and see for yourself like I did- you wont be disappointed.

I have had great experiences with this theater until today. They have unfortunately changed there policy toward the special needs community. For the past 3 plus years i have frequented this establishment with my special needs (Autistic and MR) client who i am staff for every day. The previous policy was the staff could accompany the client without buying a ticket as they have to be there for support reasons but now that has changed and carmike is forcing staff to have a ticket which makes it a financial hardship on the client since they only receive limited money for themselves. I hate to see this happen as i have supported carmike the past couple years and encouraged people to patronize this establishment because of there positive support of the special needs population. I am disappointed in this policy change as it was great activity in the limited realm for special needs activities in the triad and he quite enjoyed it.

This theater is hidden and many go elsewhere because of that. But they have great stadium seating, fantastic sound, etc. But no one seems to know where it is, what they charge, or why they should choose it over another theater.Update: 6-29-12 This theater is bull$h*t a piece of the flashing on the floor broke on the guy in front of me,the place is under staffed for a friday night. We were made to wait in the lobby because the theater was being cleaned(I get it)but Why start the movie jerks?Oh and the lobby was hotter than satans left azz cheek thanks for charging me $8.50 at a theater that should charge 4.50.I will not return until i read food reviews.Carmike group should be ashamed of this particular location shut it down and bring it up to other carmike standards.Oh and the air was a negative(broke) in the 8:00 showing so we opted for the 9:35 showing where all the above went on.

For me this theater is a hidden gem of Greensboro. Like others have said it may not be the newest but for me it has always been clean. The new movies of course get the best screens so if you go see a older movie that has been out awhile it will be on a older screen. Sound is also crazy giving how many theaters are in there. I want 1 good shooting movie to be drowning in audio blizz. Also Tuesdays matinee cant be beat. Can see a new release, popcorn and a drink for under 9 dollars. Unreal in this day and time. So to close it up if you are looking for a great movie theater without all the hassle of a super theater this place is the perfect fit. Take the left @ the next light past best buy on stanley road and it is almost at the end of the road. Only compliant is it needs a BIGGER sign advertising them.

This is the WORST theater Ive ever been in. It smelled like mildew, the seats are cheap and torn. The seats were wet (not sure if this always). But the staff is ok, and nice enough. Do not waste your money though. It is in dire need of a huge upgrade. Ive never been in a movie theater where all I could think, from the time I sat down, was, "I wish this movie would start and be over already, so I can get out of this place". And "I wish Id brought a blanket to cover this seat, I feel like I might break out, if my skin touches anything". After I couldnt even get through the previews with a clear head, I chose to leave. Luckily, they gave me my money back, because I refused to stay and watch the movie there. I cant stress enough... horrible theater and Ill not be returning.

Went yesterday to a matinee for my birthday. Soda machines were out of several drinks. Movie didnt start. Several people left after waiting over half an hour. No one even came in to explain what was going on. We asked for a refund. We were told by assistant manager Tyler Beall that he couldnt do anything to refund our money and that we would have to call corporate. When we called corporate we were informed that we could only get a refund from the theater, and that Tyler was absolutely supposed to refund our money in a situation such as this. So this location cant stock concessions, cant play movies, and cant refund your money when they fail to deliver. Waste of time and frustrating way to spend my birthday.
