We appreciate what youre trying to do here, GM, but audio overspill thru the walls of adjacent "theaters" is absolutely unacceptable in a movie theater...Dirty, delapidated, salvage furnishings are another unacceptable for a movie theater & are neither comfy, charming, nor funky (back ache after 20 minutes)...also, the LCD projector fan in room 2 is quite a noise maker. AVL Film Society is trying & has the unique opportunity to step up the film options here by bringing art house cinema to town. We already have Fine Arts for the generic geriatrics. So show real, controversial indy & ball busting docs. Playing silent, b&w or any Soviet film for that matter, mid-century kitschy nonsense, silly horror pictures etc, every Tuesday night is a waste of screen time. And mailing it in by pressing play on a Janus art house collection Blu-ray may be done in the comfort of ones home. Even the regular Grail Moviehouses weekly program leaves much to be desired. Their selection seem to promote the same old homogenous, redundant, overly PC, preachy & pretentious messages...this is Asheville keeping itself weird.

TERRIFIC!! Newly opened, the Grail has comfy seating in its three screens. Current movies will be shown, and in conjunction with The Asheville Film Society, there will be ongoing special showings - Tuesday nights will feature a classic flick and Thursdays will feature a horror movie. Thursday night at 7:30 we saw A Face At The Window from 1939, and then we saw the 1989 movie Cinema Paradiso at 9 pm - one of the most wonderful and heartfelt movies weve ever seen. The folks at the theater are friendly and helpful, and I would recommend that everyone come to the Grail and see for themselves. Consider joining and suppoerting the AFS for an amazing $10 a year, a deal you cant beat!

Love visiting The Grail any chance I get! Comfortable theaters, a great selection of new releases, independent films, and classics (such as B movies, silent films, and so on). They have a great selection at their snack bar, which includes beer, wine, and hard cider as well as some local offerings. Great staff, love the owners, and totally dig the vibe. Highly recommended!

This place is amazing! If you are visiting Asheville and are going to movies make it a local experience. the people here have put a lot into making this place great and it is a welcoming environment. I have never had so much fun at the movies! Went to the sneak-peek of guardians 2, was part of a radio show, won a costume contest! Thanks grail house, see yall soon!

Great locally owned theater. Gets a good selection of films that others theatres around town dont. The theaters are small by cozy. The snack bar has a great selection of local snacks and brews. Be sure to get a mix in with your popcorn. The only downfall is you can sometimes hear the sound from the other theaters, but that rarely happens.

I had a great time. Loved the snack options. They have LaCroix- the best! I thought the theatres themselves were a bit echo-y. No carpeting or sound proofing was in when I went. Not sure if that has or will change. I liked the general feel of an old, industrial building being updated and put to a new use.

The best new independent business to come along recently. Great location, cool and intimate theater space and simply amazing, meaningful and wonderful offering of smaller independent movies especially documentaries. If you want to expand your movie consciousness, this is the place!!

Support this independent cool movie house! They dont have typical cinema seats; you have your choice of seating like couches and different types of upholstered chairs, so much more comfort and space. Selection of local brews and cider, and snacks.

I absolutely love how intimate the screening rooms are, which you can inquire about renting out for private screenings. There is a small bar that you can get popcorn and snacks, you can also get a cup of coffee.

Nice little place. Ticket line could be faster, but everyone working there was very nice and the theater was decent. With some improvements over time, and possibly a better location, they could do very well.

Good little Indy theater. The concession stand is great. If you get to the show early you can usually find a couch to watch a movie from. The sound could be a better in a few of their theaters.

Excellent choice of movies, with indie movies and movies which are hard to find playing in Asheville. Pleasant staff and very comfortable seating. We should all support this Asheville treasure.

Local movie house that offers Indy films, special viewings, limited release films, and fun events like Silent films and "bad movie night". No lines, comfy couch seating and good, local beers!

Why did it take so long for me to discover this place? Great selection of documentaries, easy parking, and some of the nicest folks in town. The Grail is now my "go to" movie theater.

Great local movie theater. Shows are a good mix of current film titles, art films and local documentaries. Snackbar includes local beer and wine selections and Poppy popcorn.

What an amazing find this place was. It isnt easy to find, but its locally owned, serves beer, and has a mix of first run movies and older classics. Love this place!

Friendly, artsy theater. The only issue is the two front speakers sit on the floor. If the front of the theater is full, the sound gets muffled for the back.

The best place in Asheville to see indenpent or foregin films. Two theaters that are cozy and old school. A great local selection in the food court.

Great local movie theatre, small intimate seating, pretty good concessions, and fun movie nights showing more than just the latest blockbuster.

We fell in love with this local gem. Buy local snacks and beer before you see an independent film or a Hollywood super-production.

It was very crowded and hot the screen was too small in my opinion and the tickets were definitely not worth 9 dollars
