I was disappointed with my visit to the Five Star Cinema in Chanhassen on 12/30/09. The theater had not been cleaned before we entered, even though we were told we had to wait for it to be cleaned before the ticket taker could let us in. The hallway back to the theater smelled awful. The ads that ran before the previews were only partially on the screen, and the sound was too low to hear what was being said. The film itself was fine, but overall, a poor presentation compared to other movie theaters. They seemed disorganized throughout the operation. Incidentally, the theater was open for business. I read Angelas post below and it appears she was there the same evening. Maybe the staff party is an explanation for the poor experience we had, but they were at least selling tickets and showing movies.
Went to a 11am showing of SW:VII, which was the second showing already, apparently the staff didnt even show up for the first one, were 30min late to the second showing, and then decided to push everyone back to the 1:15 showing (which alot of people left) THEN decided to go ahead and show the 11:00 at 11:30. On the plus side, I got to see the movie for $5, on the negative side, this place is run like a 15 year old is in charge (which honestly may have been the case that morning). You could look at this as an adventure, similarly to going to McDonalds drive through and not checking your food before you drive away, and if the prices werent so cheap Id have nothing to do with the place, but you get what you pay for, so go in prepared for hilariously poor service, and you wont be surprised.

I am EXTREMELY angry and disappointed with the Chanhassen Theater- I tried to go to a movie tonight and they were closed for their "holiday party"! It was a bunch of teenagers all mingling around the lobby listening to music!! Its the night before New Years Eve and tons of people have off work and school- so what movie theater thinks its okay to randomly close for the night without posting anything online! I dont go to movies often so I was really looking forward to it- in my opinion this is extremely unprofessional and severely disappointing to guests. I will not be returning to that theater any time soon.
THIS THEATER IS GREAT, THE STAFF GOES OUT OF THERE WAY TO MAKE SURE ,YOU HAVE GREAT TIME AND ONLY THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVERY TIME. THE PRICES ARE $5 TO $7 DOLLARS CHEAPER(DEPENDING ON ADULT OR SEN) THEN ANY OF THE CLOSEST THEATERS TO THEM. THE SODA AND POPCORN IS ALSO $4 DOLLARS LESS THEN ANY-OTHER THEATER. ALL THE THEATERS ARE STADIUM SEATING, AND ARE REALLY NICE. I DO NOT HAVE ANY CLUE WERE ALL, THE BAD REVIEWS ARE COMING FROM, I HAVE,HAD ONLY GREAT EXPERIENCES , EVERTIME I HAVE WENT THERE, WITH A LARGE GROUP 0F PEOPLE.

The Chanhassen Five Stars Cinema tends to have the most recent movies and plenty of theaters to fill. Ive yet to see them run out of tickets, so theres always room in a movie, even last minute. But the lobby is poorly designed and out of date. Not to mention that I have to peel my feet off the floor at the end of each movie, but I suppose that makes it a normal theater.
The Chan Cinema has the best movie popcorn around. The prices are great and the theater is decent and the staff has been consistently friendly. One negative is that sometimes you can hear the sound of other loud movies from the adjoining theaters. Overall, this is a good value for seeing a movie and having some popcorn.
This theater has a small town feel to it. Almost a throwback feel to the days of weird, patterned carpets. Love the "do it yourself" ticket purchases when you walk in. Concessions are priced reasonably and offer flavored toppings for your popcorn. Theaters are mostly clean and seats are slightly older, but still comfortable.
Run down and messy. Looks like a cheap "2 dollar" theater except they show first run movies. Granted they are cheaper than most other "first run" theaters by a few dollars. Not worth it though. I felt dirty leaving the theater. Not recommended unless you want to save a buck.
A great place for a movie on a weekend. Prices are much better than AMC, and they offer great popcorn and snacks. Located in downtown Chanhassen across the street from Cub, its super easy to get to. Been going with friends for 6 years and plan to go for years more.
This place is terrible. We visited in January of 2014 and the floor is sticky, the seats are stained and the place smells like mold. Looks nice from the outside but the 2 extra miles to the AMC in the Eden Prairie Mall is WELL worth the short drive.
Movie theater has raised prices. The screen is cut off and the top and bottom. Definitely not the best and most comfortable area, its open, the theater is small and compact, and the screen is small but its worth it for the price youre paying.
Its a great hometown theater. I like that I dont have to travel very far to have a nice distraction on a gloomy day. Sure, there are bigger and better theaters, but then you pay more, too. The Chan Cinema fits nicely here.
I love this theater. Its a bit older, not as new. But, you get fewer ads before the movies, fewer trailers, volume isnt too loud and generally just a less crowded experience. Projectors are still high quality digital.
Ive been here a few times, lower priced, not so shiny theater. Usually just fine. But I did see guardian of the galaxy V2 in theater 2, the screen was to small and there were parts that where cut off.
Took two children to a movie. Had to pay for the tickets at a computer. There was not a staff member, at the ticket window. This happened the last two visits. I prefer talking to staff.
Chan cinema is great place for an inexpensive movie without going 15 miles to an AMC. Very great values on food and meals. Seating is a little troublesome for shorter people and kids.
Cheaper prices, comfy seats, popcorn was ok, cleanliness of theatre just ok. But all-in-all given the price, ease-of-parking, and lack of crowds/lines, definitely worth returning to.
Staff is super friendly and accomidating. No leather recliners but i dont really care for them. Great sound and comfortable seats that do recline a bit. Popcorn quality 5 out of 10.
The big chain theaters suck. This is not a chain, everyone is friendly and happy you are there. Even when crowded, service is fast and helpful. I am never going to AMC again.
I go usually for the matinee movies which are a good value. Only issue I have with the place is that if you have a movie in the #5 theatre, the projector seems a bit dark
I was not inside this theatre, but I would recommend checking out the Prince mural on the side of the building many people go there to take pictures of it.
Theaters are clean and not usually all that packed with people. I usually take my kids here to avoid the crowds at so many other movie theaters.
Nice because its significantly cheaper than something like AMC. If you bring your own snacks youll also save a significant amount of money
