Im only giving 2 stars because the manager was the only person seeming polite, understanding and wanted to address our concern. My wife and I decided to try this place out for the first time. We walk in and it looks amazing. Extremely clean and well kept. We ordered our tickets ahead of time and we were able to choose our seats. The attendant took our ticket stubs, gave us a menu, and directed us to the theater. We find our seats which were very comfortable and reclined. However not being there before we didnt realize how close we would be to the screen. My wife wanted to change seating because it was making her feel ill and thats when everything turned into a mess. Youd think this request would be simple and effortless especially considering there were 3 other guests in the theater. NOT THE CASE. She asked the attendant in the theater if we could change seating. She said no at first..really?! The movie was just starting at this point and someone else was coming around to take orders and we had to go back out to the box office in order to change seating. Once there they required the ticket stubs which had fallen out of my pocket in the theater chair (I guess that was my fault). I had to go back and find these before they would even think about helping. They used my credit card I purchased the tickets with to print the ticket stubs in the first place to check in, which I had available, but still made me go search for them before they would do anything about seating. Makes sense right? At this point we decided to get our money back and go elsewhere because it was a bit rediculous. We go there to have lunch, relax and watch a movie and none of this was taking place. While the manager was processing our refund this same attendant who was unwilling to help and had me go search for the tickets thought this was amusing. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Having said all of that the manager seemed concerned and she was very polite. Her staff certainly needs some more customer service experience and/or training. Its unfortunate that such a simple request can ruin an entire experience.

The concept is wonderful. The theaters are small, there are about a hundred seats. Each seat is a very comfy electric recliner and you have a small swing out table for your food & beverages. What could go wrong? Exactly what you would expect. The meal portion sizes were laughable, and it took nearly forty minutes for me to get a draught beer, which we were charged twice for. The server was nice enough, but incompetent. After a half an hour of waiting I inquired what happened to my beer, she simply rang it in again. It did arrive a few minutes later, and she blamed the delay on the kitchen. Call me crazy, but the kitchen is not making the beer. If I had gone to see a movie and ordered nothing, I could have given my experience five stars based solely on the chair alone! However, for the sheer volume of minimum wage staff running around in our theater alone, I cant believe it would take so long to get one drink. Furthermore, the ordering system is entirely automated. The server enters the order on a handheld device. It then goes to the kitchen and bar respectively to be filled. First, each server should be able to see which customers are still awaiting their food and beverages, and how long theyve been waiting. Next, if a customer has been waiting a long time (say, more than 15 minutes for a beverage, or 30 for a meal) a notification should appear on their device causing them to look in to the problem. Lesson learned. Next time I go, I will get beverage from the bar, and not order food.

Not good. If you want servers interrupting the climactic fight scene delivering bills, if you want the odors of yet more Applebees-style mediocre fried BS wafting the entire time while the teenager next to you chews with his mouth open during half the movie, if you want to pay normal movie theatre prices for popcorn and soda without the convenience of paying when you buy it thus ensuring that youre fumbling in the pitch black for cash or a card to pay during the closing scenes or credits, if you want to deal with assigned seating that must be prearranged and splits up your party anyway, if you love so much movement during the movie by staff and patrons trying to eat in the dark that you cant watch a scene without interruption, this is the best place to see a movie for you. It was billed by a friend as the luxury of watching a movie at home but with with food and drink and comfy chairs. True. Except Im not home. Im dealing with interruptions. Im dealing with peoples rude eating habits. Im not engrossed by nor enjoying the movie. This is a bad concept, and poorly executed. Its a great example of one of those things that didnt exist because its not a good idea. The chairs are comfortable. So comfortable that the guest next to me fell asleep and started snoring. The staff was friendly, though not especially quick. Not their fault as they have to walk a quarter mile to get and deliver food. This, overall, is a great place to watch a movie if you dont give two hoots about the movie itself. Never again.

When they first opened the service was amazing; unfortunately, it has gone downhill since then. What is frustrating is arriving early to be able to order your food and no one acknowledges you, and people who arrive at the last minute, seated in the same section with the same server, get their order taken and processed first, while you have to sit there and turn your light on to get someone to come over. Most recently we went there and it took nearly an hour for my son to just get a popcorn and lemonade. We had to ask the server 5 times, and on the fifth time she said there was a back up in the kitchen. I said that was fine but could we at least get our drinks ( a water and a lemonade) and she said sure. She never came back. My husband had to go get a manager, who promptly brought us the popcorn and drinks, only to be followed by the waitress 15 minutes later handing us the check and then asking us three times in the last half hour of the movie if it was all set. To add insult to injury, we were charged full price for the popcorn and drinks. I couldnt even enjoy the 90 minute movie as an hour was spent begging for a freaking popcorn and lemonade and the last half hour was having someone in my face asking me if the bill was all set. We had another bad experience and figured we would give it another shot, but after this last time will never go back there again. I would much rather be able to get my food and go sit down in a theater and not be bothered.

Its difficult to go wrong with dine-in movie theatres. I have been to several chains and locations across the country, and this Movie Tavern doesnt really stand out as exceptional, just satisfactory. The theatres are small, so buy tickets ahead of time. The tables are the personal, rotating, arm-based kind, with the service button on the surface itself. The chairs do recline, which was a fascinating little perk, but the theatre design doesnt tier well for the servers, which forces them to stand in front of you as they do their jobs. The menus are sadly on the limited side for overall spread (i.e. pizza options are all of four, and the custom toppings are from a pool of six or so; broke my heart a little to see no mushrooms), but still provide a variety of options (salads, americana, etc). Beer selection was underwhelming, which was sad for a place with "tavern" in the name. Mixed drinks came in two sizes, and they were fun, if not a little weak (not surprising in the slightest with their $10 mason jar deal mixer). And while this was not a problem in the slightest, we went on a Sunday night, and food did not come out until 2/3 of the way through the movie. Everyone was still able to finish by the end with time to digest, but management deemed this unsatisfactory. (I chalked it up to being a busy Sunday night.) They comped us an entree and ended up giving us free tickets as well. They treat their customers well.
