On Saturday, 10/17, myself and 4 of my friends had a tee time at Lyon Oaks for 10:40am. Unfortunately, due to situations out of our control, we ended up being 10 minutes late for the tee time. We had called ahead and said we were going to be late, and whoever was running the pro shop told us that it wouldnt be an issue and they would get us on together. When we arrived at 10:50am, the person at the pro shop still told us it wouldnt be a problem, but the starter (tall, older guy, white hair) started to make it a problem. He said that we wouldnt get on at all, but after talking with him, he said that we could get on together. Keep in mind, the course wasnt that busy when we got to Lyon Oaks, the parking lot was 1/3 full. We paid, and headed out to our carts, and thats when the starter came out and said that the 5 of us couldnt play together and one person would have to be paired with a 3 some on the back 9 while the rest of us were playing the front. Our 5th when to go play with the random 3 some, and was berated by the starter all the way to the tee box for being late to the point where our 5th went back to the clubhouse and demanded a refund. He had asked for the manager but was never given an apology for this horrible treatment. Yes, we were 10 minutes late for our tee time, but after playing the 9 as a foursome, our 5th couldve easily fit in with us because by the time we finished, we were a full hole and a half ahead of the foursome behind us, and the course was not as nearly as busy as the starter made it out to be. He just decided to be extremely inflexible to the situation.

My son and I went to hit a bucket of balls Sunday 4-17-2016 at 5:24 pm and my son bought 20.00 worth of coins then after we walked over to the ball dispenser it was locked, I even called before we packed up the clubs and made sure the driving range would be open and I was told it would be open till 7:00. Really!?!?!?!?!?!? To top it all off they would not refund my sons 20.00 and told him they needed time to retrieve all the balls on the driving range and that they changed the time to 5:30 (by crossing it off and writing in 5:30). Needless to say, by the time we packed back up all the other golf courses were also closing within the hour. I only get so much time with my son and I do enjoy the time we spend together..... Thanks lyon oaks...... get your balls together! AFTER YOU F-ING CLOSE!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the magic beans (coins) ..... I could at least eat beans..... and to the intelligence agent selling the coins... Thanks. Robert Pessel (the guy you screwed over)

I debated on whether to write a review, I almost prefer to keep this place off everyones radar. One of my favorites in the area. Interesting and fun layout. Not a house to be seen on any hole. Definitely not a grip it and rip it course, youll need to do some thinking to score well. Ive played several times and have nothing but good things to say about the staff. Theyve squeezed me out several times now, even though I didnt have a tee time. Nothing but friendly. Course is always in solid condition. Unfortunately, the usual public golf course annoyances are present, un repaired ball marks and divots, and few traps where people are just too lazy to pick up a rake. Not the fault of the course. What the heck is wrong with people? If your too lazy, too old, too drunk, to bend over and fix your own ball marks and divots please find a new hobby. 35 years ago I was taught to fix your own ball mark and two others, and I still do it to this day.

Played on October 27, a chilly day. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, was exceedingly nice. The starter called me by name when I walked up. (I was the first female to show up to play on that day, so he figured it out from the tee time sheet.) He was great, the guy in the pro shop was great, the cart guy was great. We played as a two-some and are not the best players, but still played 18 in a little over 4 hours, waiting for the foursome in front only a couple of times and barely seeing the foursome behind us. The only time we talked to Rangers was when one had found a lost club and thought it might be ours, and on the 16th green, where the Ranger stopped to ask if we were enjoying our round. We would play there again, no doubt. Loved the front nine, although the back nine was a little more challenging. Winter rules...we got through it and had a great afternoon.

$42 for walking 9 holes Sunday am, the back-9: a fun challenging course, some mild rolling hills, fast greens, 5 colored tee shots, great layout with lots of Michigan natural hazards along and sometimes crossing each fairway. thick vegetation at the mowed-border along every inch of the course- lots of lost (and found) balls. No crabby staff- a trainee at the pro shop, the greens mower (mowing at 8 am) helped me find my ball, the Ranger asked me to let the pace-setters play through at the next hole, as pleasant as can be. Each hole is separate from the next- no bordering fairways, paved cart paths along the entire course, normally the entire path width through each wood, so walkers have to walk on the asphalt, and some wooden bridges. 5 stars for golf carts, 4 stars for walkers.

Almost Like a Private Country Club Never played here before and the gents in the clubhouse were very friendly, informative and asked for my opinion of the course after my round when I informed them before I paid my fees. Marshals were upbeat and friendly too, they even stopped by during the round to ask how my experience of the course was. Course played well, lots of interesting holes that will make you think twice about what club to hit and where to hit it. I will certainly play this course again.

Beautiful and challenging golf course. This is my favorite course in the metro Detroit area. There are no homes on the course, greens are very fast, and there are multiple tees to satisfy all ability levels. The rangers do a great job of making sure that the pace of play keeps moving. I would highly recommend this course.

Course is nice but staff is rude as can be. My brother is having his wedding reception there and they wont even give us a discount on a round of golf. Spent well over 20k and you can give a discounted or free round of golf? I get that the banquet center and golf and technically separate but thats just bad business.

I concur with the other reviews. The rangers at Lyon Oaks are downright mean and scold you inappropriately. Its happened to me on multiple occasions when we were waiting on almost every hole. Its the only thing that tarnishes a beautiful, up north feel course
