Adjacent to Brooklyns Pier 6 (duh), Pier 5 was once a defunct slab of concrete jutting out into the water. After several months of construction, they did a beautiful job transforming the space into an all-purpose turf field lined for both soccer and lacrosse with stunning views of downtown Manhattan. Next to Pier 5 is an equally new picnic area with a handful of fixed charcoal grills. I cant wait until our summer Brooklyn beach volleyball league (games at the adjacent Pier 6) kicks off so we can have a team BBQ one night beforehand! By itself, Pier 5 is a beautiful addition to the Brooklyn waterfront, but add in the park amenities at Pier 6, Fornino, and the nearby bars and concessions, and youve got the makings of some awesome summer nights!

Sweet little amusement park for kids from birth to about 7 or 8. Any older than that, the kids would be bored pretty quickly, but for toddlers? Its magical. There are little rides (free with admission), tunnels, a puppet show, stairs, small bridges, hills, animals, snack bar, gift shop, and even a coffee place inside of the giant pumpkin so mom and dad stay happy too. Lots of shady areas and places to sit and rest. Every now and then theres a living social deal that gets you the family membership at 50% off.

Wonderful place to take in great views of Manhattan. Grills, tables, and umbrellas all make for a great place to have a summer picnic. I have spent many weekend afternoons hanging out here with friends and out-of-town visitors. There are public restrooms and a few places to buy drinks, some food and ice cream. There is even a really great playground that has a water feature and lots of greenery. Awesome place to visit!

Unique Pier 5. Amazing area is dedicated to active recreation and features playing fields as soccer, rugby, frisbee. Shade sails provide shade for spectators. And everyone can watch the game from the bleachers and benches situated along the sidelines. After at picnic peninsula you can relax under one of weather resistant umbrellas while cooking. Enjoy. *****

A special person with a heart of gold took me to this park. I loved the company, music and the scenery. We had an awesome time. After, he surprised me with lunch at the Apollo diner. The food was good. We had a nice time. I really appteciate all he did for me. God bless him always. Thank you God for sending good people into my life. Amen.

Great view, one of the best from any field in the city (Pier 40, top floor is great too). Trade-off between the view and complete exposure to the elements, have played in extremely slick surfaces in gusting winds. Turf is a little thinner than most of the modern fields Im used to, expect to feel further off the ground with regular boots.

The view is fantastic, there are BBQ Pits first come first served. There is a childrens playground area. There are also soccer fields nearby, and basketball courts. The only difficulty for us was the parking, it can be a little expensive. Hauling food in and out to the barbecue pit area is a very long walk.

Nice place to see the Big Apple and its modern skyline, particularly that of the Financial District in Lower Manhattan. Governors Island and the Statue of Liberty can also be seen from here. On a sunny day, come in the early morning to midday for the best photos. Great for night photography too.

One of the wonders of NYC there is grills, a beautiful, soccer field, picnic table, and play grounds for younger children, it is great for fishing and biking, it is not far is the the basketball court, skating rink, other playgrounds,volleyball,Forino pizza. the only thing is parking

The area looks great, and pier is filled with places to play games, sit, and barbecue. Parking in the area is extremely difficult, public transportation to this area is your safest bet.
